 This is also a granite feature.  There are chiseled Anchor points at each corner, producing a 'tongue' 3" in diameter and 9" long.

Gawain starts in Red, Monster in Green

OOC: Yes, I'm playing both sides here and will not collect XP. I really need to try out the way the crusader uses maneuvers though, as it is unique.

Gawain materializes and takes a look around. Yes, this was exactly what he needed. He pales slightly when his opponent comes into view. The lumbering beast is hollering and cursing with both heads in its pidgin speech and clashing the massive morningstar and javelin together.
Taking a deep breath, Gawain regains his resolve and composure and assumes the offensive White Raven stance before launching into a series of arcane gestures and incantations. The first has no visible effect, the second one though... his face contorts and a strong jaw juts out, and a webbed crest rises from the base of his neck til the forehead. His hands turn into claws, and a tail suddenly appears, while the skin gets a thick layer of scales. Always conscious of his appearance, Gawain alters the color of the scales from the natural green to a rather pleasant silver sheen.

The Ettin looks bewildered at its new surrounding, not quite understanding what is going on. Seeing the human appear on the opposite side though makes him grunt and holler with satisfaction, and both heads agreeing on what to do next.

Moving forward, Gawain bursts into song. Its an uplifting tune, though the words sound alien and strange.

Finally released, the giant lumbers straight forward trying to get close and get a clear shot at the human/lizard. Still, it is cunning enough not to easily expose itself to a countercharge. Gaining some cover from ranged attacks it throws a javelin from close range. The spear glances off a pillar and rattles harmlessly against the altar in the middle.

Gawain sees the danger in approaching the giant, and instead uses his superior speed to put some distance between himself and the Ettin. Again using his arcane knowledge he casts a spell from the wand stored in his sword while hurling the heavy blade forward. The magical weapon spins as it flies straight across the arena, and manages to catch the giant with the flat side of the blade. Before the Ettin has a chance to grab the hilt it returns to the waiting hands of the knight. This is a terrifying display of power and skill, but the Ettin seems to resist it.

With these initial trades of ranged attacks out of the way, the giant decides to close the distance a little, clearly taking a chance of suffering a charge but ready to smack anyone entering his threat range. The second javelin throw is accurate and hits Gawain in the shoulder. It would have penetrated him through and through if not for the scaly hide he now wears.

Gawain grins, and sees his opportunity. Changing tune slightly his greatsword suddenly burst into flames right before he rushes forward.

The Ettin staggers from the force of the attack, and almost in panic flails about with its morningstars as it attempts to batter the knight into the ground. The first two strikes manages to score glancing blows that Gawain in his lizard form can simply shrug off.

The strike severs the left leg of the giant and cuts deep into the right one. The ettin falls to the ground with a loud crash and bleeds out.
