Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

There is a force ceiling 30' up (transparent). Ambient (daylight) illumination.
The river is 10' deep (I made it deeper) in the middle and sloping up to 5' at the edges. It flows from SW to NE at a speed of 10'/round.
The ground is dirt and/or sand down to 10' where it is sealed off by another wall of force.
The stone structures are 15' high and made of stonemasonry (DC 20 climb check). The stone has hardness 8, 90 HP (per 10'x10' section) and the Break DC is 35.

The bridges are wooden (hardness 5, 60 HP, Break DC 20).

Isigar starts in red, Zar'Da in green. Go!

OOC:  Nope - it's Isigar's companion (as a druid) - he is using an alternative class feature that gives him an elemental (rather than an animal) as a companion.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

Zar'Da appeared in the arena and immediately grabbed the potion that hung from his belt and drank from it, the familiar feeling of strength washing over him. With but a though his long slightly curved sword jumped into his hand and a reddish aura sprung up around him. With a simple salute the drowkin waited for the bell.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

"Be wary, the man spits acid," Isigar admonishes his companion in the Terran tongue of the Plane of Earth.  "But this should help..."  He narrows his eyes for a moment, and focuses, muttering.  Both the druid and the elemental are momentarily surrounded by a faint violet aura, which almost immediately fades.  The bipedal rock, meanwhile, smashes a small tile on the inside of its forearm, and gobbles the pieces avidly.

The two combatants then step out from behind the stone wall, with the winterland shaman stepping around it and Kaalk stepping through the wall, rippling it as he emerges on the far side.

Round 1:
[Standard] Cast Resist Energy (Acid 10) (50 Min) (share with Kaalk)

Kuo-Toa Skin:  +8 Escape Artist, immune to web (pre-cast) (shared from Isigar)

Note:  Still clarifying with regional DM whether Fist of Stone is appropriate for Kaalk.  If not, the alternative would likely be Divine Favor (which, in the context of this arena match, would actually be worse for Zar'Da).

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

Zar'Da let out a deep sigh when he saw the large walking mound of earth and mumbled, "Two against one....this should go well."
The drowkin moved out from behind his cover and into the open then stopped, wrapped his sword on his shield and spoke loudly.
"I see you brought a friend! Well, Send him over then so we may test our mettle!" Zar'Da shouted.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

The druid chuckles at Zar'Da's reference to the elemental.  "Is saying, among southron people, 'Many hands are making light work', yes?"  Actually, come to think of it...

A softly-chanted spell, and both Isigar and his companion sprout a pair of extra arms.  "And now, we are swimming to you!" he calls to the dragon shaman, and gestures at Kaalk to follow him toward - and into - the river.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

When Zar'Da saw the creature and the druid sprouting a second set of arms the drowkin rolled his eyes. As the two began to swim through the water the dragon shaman moved forward, opened his mouth and shot a line of fetid green liquid at the druid.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

"I told you he spits acid..." the druid remarks knowingly to Kaalk, not seeming to have a problem speaking underwater, though the acid in the river around him appears to be reddening and blistering his skin.  "Okay, let's get to the shore."

The elemental duly emerges from the riverbank, and stabs powerfully at the dragon shaman.  Meanwhile, Isigar himself swims a little further upstream, and emerges onto the bank, leaving damp footprints in the ground.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

Zar'da took the hit with a loud grunt and then moved, running just outside the reach of the elemantal and then disappeared and reappeared right next to the druid. Unfortunetly, the drow was just off and missed the druid.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

Kaalk jabs its spear at the retreating Zar'Da, and manages to land a solid blow before the dragon shaman gets out of range.  Isigar, meanwhile, views the approaching foe with a smile on his face, though he prudently ducks when the blade flashes near him.

"Ah, you are using sword.  Is good.  I am having think sword only is being for displaying," he teases Zar'Da, though the grin on his face makes clear that the ribbing is intended in a friendly manner.

He gestures with his quarterstaff, but if the act was meant as an attack it was not a particularly effective one.  Shrugging, he steps back a few feet, letting Kaalk come up beside him with an onrushing attack, piercing Zar'Da's defenses with a terrible blow.

Re: Isigar vs Zar'Da in the Crossroads River

"Eh," Isigar seems surprised at the quick victory.  He lowers his staff, and steps forward to help Zar'Da up to his feet, while clapping him on the back and gesturing to Kaalk to stand down (all at the same time!  It's nice, having four hands!)

OOC:  You could have dragged it out longer, by using your draconic healing, but I think it would have just delayed the inevitable.  Some lessons learned for Isigar:  (1) Being underwater doesn't protect him from magical effects even though it provides total cover.  I hadn't appreciated that before.  (2) Shillelagh is a waste of a spell unless I need to overcome DR/magic.  It increases damage output a little, but does nothing for Isigar's unimpressive attack roll.  If he is Giralloned, he should just flail about with three claws and hope one of them hits, rather than try to use the staff.  (3) The combination of Isigar standing back and buffing, while Kaalk leads the charge, is more effective than I thought it would be.

An observation for you:  You could have avoided that AoO by using your anklet first, and only then a regular move.  But, again, that would only have delayed the inevitable (in hindsight).  Getting tag-teamed put you in a very difficult spot.  Would you be interested in a re-match, in which Kail joins you, to make it more of a two-on-two fight?  (But just two-on-two - the invitation does not extend to Kail's eight-legged pet...)
