Races

This is a list of the available races and the races they are compatible with (in case you wanted an inter-species background). Please note that you may only be one of these races and not a combination. For example, no humans with monkey tails. But fur or hair color are something you may inherit. That said, you could have a Black Bear who is the son of a black bear and a panda if you wanted. But he'd still be a black bear (Send me a note if you want to inherit the ability of the other species). If there is a race you want, but do not see here, feel free to PM me with the idea.

Details:
Here I give details on each of the races listed above. Details like the average height, weight, abilities, and any other important notes.

Each race has different default abilities that sets them apart. You may use the default abilities of the race you choose for your character. The weaknesses and such are things you have no choice but to use unless you give me a compelling reason for you to forgo them. Sorry. Them's the rules.

That said, only a select few races do not have claws. So the default ability unless it is otherwise noted is this:

Claws - This character has unretractable claws for use in cutting things like a knife would.

You may simply list your racial abilities like so: 1.) Racial Attributes - This character has all the abilities listed for his/her race in the race section.

Size Categories
Due to the variety in races sizes, the races have been put into 5 categories. Keep in mind the sizes usually go by height, but mass could easily make you fall into a larger category than your height suggests (Such as a quadruped who stands 3' tall but is 6' long.) Here they are:

Tiny (Size Category: 1' 10" or smaller)
Small (Size Category: 2' 4" to 3' 6")
Medium (Size Category: 4' to 5')
Large (Size Category: 5' 4" to 6' 6")
Huge (Size Category: 7' or larger)

Android (R) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: (Varies)
Weight: (Varies, but should be noticeably (1.3 times) heavier than it's organic counterpart)

Attributes:
Inventor's Choice - You may choose one ability from any race in addition to the race the android is meant to copy. The only exceptions being flight and breathing fire like dragons can (Though obviously, if the droid is meant to be imitating a dragon, it can fly and breathe fire). If the android is from a "forgotten" race or an alien race, please discuss this with me.

Badger (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Vicious - When this character is in combat, it seems to have twice the strength it's size would suggest and tends to be relentless. This character will fight until it's incredibly clear they are losing.
Size Doesn't Matter - This character is naturally not intimidated by creatures that are as much as 5 times bigger.
Digging - This character can dig much faster and longer than others. A burrow could be made big enough for a whole family to live in in less than an hour.

Bat (U)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Nocturnal - This character has a strong tendency to stay awake at night and sleep during the day. Doing the opposite can lead to grogginess, frequent illness, and needing more sleep.
Extremely Good Hearing - This character can hear good enough to "see" with their ears. They have an incredible hearing range and can pick up even the minutest of sounds.
Near Sighted - This character can only see things that are close. But far away objects are dull and blurry.
Upside Down - This character can roost, sleep, etc while hanging upside down. They can hang upside down from just about anything.

Black Bear (C)
Size Category: Medium to Large

Attributes:
Hibernator - This character has a natural tendency to sleep a lot.
Very Strong - Whether this character is ferocious or not, they can do some amazing feats of strength, including being able to make an entire tree shake.
Glutton 1 - This character naturally eats a lot.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Brown Bear (C) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Large

Hibernator - This character has a natural tendency to sleep a lot.
Very Strong - Whether this character is ferocious or not, they can do some amazing feats of strength, including being able to make an entire tree shake.
Glutton 1 - This character naturally eats a lot.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Bird (U)
Size Category: Tiny

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Light Bones - While this makes the character light enough for flight, this also makes their bones easier to break than most any other species. A character with this weakness should avoid fist fights with other characters.

Boar (C)
Size Category: Medium

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Glutton 2 - This character naturally eats a lot and even makes omnivores look like picky eaters.
Hard Head - This character has a head so tough, they may as well be wearing a helmet.

Caribou (C)
Size Category: Medium

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
Tough Extremities -  The hands and feet, being hoofed, are tougher than usual, allowing this character to handle some objects and walk on some surfaces that are too hot, cold, or rough for other characters. This power can be negated in favor of having hands.

Cat (C)
Size Category: Small (3' 5" to 3' 10")

Attributes:
Extreme Curiosity - This character pokes their nose into just about everything.
Agile - This character is naturally as agile as a gymnast.
Night Vision - This character can see in the dark as long as the area has at least the tiniest amount of light seeping in.
Retractable Claws - This is like the "Claws" ability except your character can retract their claws.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Cheetah (U)
Size Category: Medium (3' 8" to 4')

Attributes:
Super Sprinting - This character can reach running speeds of 45 mph on foot for about 250 yards.
Retractable Claws - This is like the "Claws" ability except your character can retract their claws.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Chimpanzee (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Climbing - This character can climb trees, rocks, etc with ease. Of course, anything with "limbs", such as a tree, is like a walk in the park.
Long Arms - This character can treat their reach as though they were a size category larger.

Crocodile (C) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Large (5' 4" to 6')

Attributes:
Powerful Bite - This character can bite things with 1,500 pounds of pressure per square inch, but can't open their mouths if it is held closed by someone of medium or larger size.
Swimming - This character can swim better than average.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Coyote (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Loyalty - This character has a natural tendency to be VERY loyal to their friends.
Feral Call - The character with this ability can understand and use the complex howling language of the wild. It is a simple language and is only learned from family.
Pack Mentality - This character shares a special kinship with those of the canine family (Especially those of the character's own race) and will go out of their way to help or even defend the honor of those who are canine.

Deer (C)
Size Category: Small to Medium (3' 2" to 4' 6")

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Size Category: Small to Medium (3' 4" to 4')

Attributes:

Dragon (R) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Huge (7' to 9')

Attributes:
Truth - This character can not lie. Players caught lying with this character will lose their character. Also, this character can sense when someone is lying or telling the truth. Finally, legends tell of this about dragons, so most everyone on Mobius knows and understands this about Dragons, trusting their words sometimes even in the face of incontrovertible evidence.
Flight - This character can fly.
(Note: If you are taking a water dragon, you must trade flight for swimming and gliding)
(Swimming - This character can swim better than average.)
(Gliding - This character can glide safely to the ground or add to it's jump height with a flap.)
Glutton - This character naturally eats a lot.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
Choose one kind of breathe:
Fire Breath - This character can shoot blasts of fire from their mouth.
Ice Breath - This character can shoot blasts of cold air from their mouth.
Wind Breath - This character can blow so hard, they are capable of making aircraft slam into each other.
Water Breath (Water Dragon only) - This character can cause the water it is swimming in to shoot out as a forceful blast. The character also can store enough water inside itself to shoot one powerful burst of water when it is not in water.

Eagle (U)
Size Category: Small to Medium (3' 6" to 4' 4")

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Light Bones - While this makes the character light enough for flight, this also makes their bones easier to break than most any other species. A character with this weakness should avoid fist fights with other characters.
Long Vision - This character can see things very far away and with amazing detail as though they had binoculars.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Echidna (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Sharp Quills - This character has quills that can penetrate the average animal's skin. They can also work loose, allowing the character to escape while the quills stay behind to keep causing pain. These quills will eventually grow back.
Balling Up - Not to be confused with the far more powerful Spin Dash that Sonic developed, this ability allows the character to curl up into a tight ball that is pretty much completely covered with spines (or quills, depending on what you wanna call 'em).

Elk (C)
Size Category: Medium

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
Tough Extremities -  The hands and feet, being hoofed, are tougher than usual, allowing this character to handle some objects and walk on some surfaces that are too hot, cold, or rough for other characters. This power can be negated in favor of having hands.

Flickie (U)
Size Category: Tiny (5" to 6")
Weight: 5 ounces to 7 ounces

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Light Bones - While this makes the character light enough for flight, this also makes their bones easier to break than most any other species. A character with this weakness should avoid fist fights with other characters.
Speechless - While as sentient as any other race, this character can not speak any language beyond it's own race's... which is probably composed of some form of Morse code anyway.

Fox (C) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Loyalty - This character has a natural tendency to be VERY loyal to their friends.
Feral Call - The character with this ability can understand and use the complex howling language of the wild. It is a simple language and is only learned from family.
Pack Mentality - This character shares a special kinship with those of the canine family (Especially those of the character's own race) and will go out of their way to help or even defend the honor of those who are canine.
Good Hearing - This character can hear people talking from 160 feet.
Very High Reflexes - Foxes have been known to dodge lasers. This is partly due to being that skittish, but it is also because they have such incredible reflexes that the slightest hint of the beginning of the sound of a laser will trigger their body's reflexes within such a small fraction of time that it appears like foxes are psychic.

Frog (C)
Size Category: Tiny to Small

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Severe Jumping - This character can jump up to 10 times it's own height.
Long Tongue - This character has an incredibly long tongue that can snap out and catch flies mid-flight.

Gorilla (C) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Large to Huge (5' 10" to 6' 6")

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Very Strong - Whether this character is ferocious or not, they can do some amazing feats of strength, including being able to make an entire tree shake.
Climbing - This character can climb trees, rocks, etc with ease. Of course, anything with "limbs", such as a tree, is like a walk in the park.

Hamster (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Mighty Incisors - This character can bite into hard substances, such as wood, without much trouble.
Habitual Gnawing - This character must find things to chew or gnaw on several times a day. They rather enjoy it too.

Hawk (U)
Size Category: Small to Medium

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Light Bones - While this makes the character light enough for flight, this also makes their bones easier to break than most any other species. A character with this weakness should avoid fist fights with other characters.
Long Vision - This character can see things very far away and with amazing detail as though they had binoculars.

Hedgehog (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:

Human (Overlander) (R)
Size Category: Large

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Clever - This character has a natural gift for being clever. If the player of this character is having a hard time coming up with an escape plan or doing anything that requires being clever, they can ask the admin to give them a clue or answer to their problem, depending on the situation. This character is likely the one to get others out of a bad situation. This power can be negated with good RP reason.
Adaptable - This character can adapt to things physically and emotionally. They can also empathize with other races, making them able to fit in easier than other foreign races might.
Technologist - This character is familiar with most of the technology on Mobius, allowing them to operate even slightly complex machinery. This is only for operation, though, and doesn't count towards repairs. This ability is negated by backgrounds that involve growing up in a tribal society or by not growing up on Mobius.
Hated - Most races on Mobius hate this character for being born. At best, a mobian will subconsciously be afraid of you. At worst, a mobian will try to kill you. This ability is negated only if you don't look like your own race (Such as if you have been transformed into another race).

Jaguar (C)
Size Category: Medium (3' 8" to 4' 4")

Attributes:
Stalker - This character has an almost 6th sense when it comes to finding someone they are after and they usually find that someone. The person they are stalking must be living.
Stillness - This character can stay perfectly motionless for nearly half an hour straight, making them undetectable during this time.
Jogger - This character can run for a long time without getting winded.
Retractable Claws - This is like the "Claws" ability except your character can retract their claws.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Kangaroo (U)
Size Category: Medium to Large (5' to 5' 3")
Weight: 100 Lbs. to 150 Lbs.

Attributes:
Powerful Legs - This character has very strong legs. This means they can jump higher, kick harder and run faster than normal people of their size and stature.
Strong Tail - While it is not prehensile, the tail of this character is strong enough to balance the entire weight of the character on it as though it were a leg.

Koala (U)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Eucalyptus Bound - This character can only eat eucalyptus leaves. If they eat anything else they will get seriously ill or die.
Large Ears - While this character can not hear farther things than others, they can hear a larger frequency of sound, allowing them to hear things like dog whistles and very low tremors.
Perchers - This character can use it's claws to stay clung to a tree or other such rough vertical surfaces (But not upside down like bats) for as long as 12 hours. They can even sleep this way.

Lizard (C) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Excellerated Regeneration - This character not only heals faster than the average mobian, they can even grow limbs back, given time.
Cold Blooded - This character strongly prefers keeping to the sunlight or other warm places and thus loves being near warm blooded people. He or she will slow down significantly going into a semi-contious state where all they wanna do is sleep/hibernate.

Mink (C)
Size Category: Small to Medium

Attributes:
Clever - This character has a natural gift for being clever. If the player of this character is having a hard time coming up with an escape plan or doing anything that requires being clever, they can ask the admin to give them a clue or answer to their problem, depending on the situation. This character is likely the one to get others out of a bad situation. This power can be negated with good RP reason.

Skittish - This character is twitchy and has higher reflexes than normal as a result, but is also spooked easily.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Mole (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Near Sighted - This character can only see things that are close. But far away objects are dull and blurry.

Monkey (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.

Moose (C)
Size Category: Medium to Large

No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
Tough Extremities -  The hands and feet, being hoofed, are tougher than usual, allowing this character to handle some objects and walk on some surfaces that are too hot, cold, or rough for other characters. This power can be negated in favor of having hands.

Mouse (C)
Size Category: Small (Special: May choose size abilities from Tiny)

Attributes:
Mighty Incisors - This character can bite into hard substances, such as wood, without much trouble.
Habitual Gnawing - This character must find things to chew or gnaw on several times a day. They rather enjoy it too.
Agile - Mice can walk tightropes without thinking about it much. They are not competitive, but often find cats competing against them in feats of agility.
Tail Weakness - Mice have thin, weak tails that are there to provide balance for a mouse. Should their tail get hurt or worse, the mouse will find themselves no more agile than a drunk for at least 2 days after the initial injury.
Food Sense - Mice have good sniffers when it comes to food. They have an inborn sense of whether something is edible or not. This means they can figure out what they can survive off of even on alien planets where they aren't familiar with the food. This also means mice can smell any poisons that have a scent. They can also track down food as though it were a magnet pulling them, able to sense any food in the area within 100 yards. However, this doesn't mean they know exactly what the smells are. Most of this ability is subconscious. So this by no means makes Mice better cooks... just healthier ones.

Opossum (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Prehensile Tail - This character can hold things with his or her tail as though it were the same strength as one of their legs and with the dexterity of a hand.
Play Dead - This character can play dead so well that even tickling them won't do a thing. Listening for breathe will yield no results as they can hold their breathe during this state.

Otter (C)
Size Category: Small to Medium

Attributes:
Playful - This character must find fun in nearly everything. If they don't find something to be fun, they will try to move on to something that is.
Swimming - This character can swim better than average.

Owl (U)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Light Bones - While this makes the character light enough for flight, this also makes their bones easier to break than most any other species. A character with this weakness should avoid fist fights with other characters.
No Sniffer - This character does not have a sense of smell.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Panda (U)
Size Category: Medium to Large

Attributes:
Peace Loving - This character pulls punches and tries to avoid real fights with other Mobians. This does not apply to Robotnik's army such as SWATbots.
Hibernator - This character has a natural tendency to sleep a lot.
Very Strong - Whether this character is ferocious or not, they can do some amazing feats of strength, including being able to make an entire tree shake.
Glutton 1 - This character naturally eats a lot.

Pig (C)
Size Category: Small to Medium

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Glutton 2 - This character naturally eats a lot and even makes omnivores look like picky eaters.
Fat - This character does not get cold easily, but is also easily winded.
Durable - This character resists injury a little better than most.

Porcupine (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Mighty Incisors - This character can bite into hard substances, such as wood, without much trouble.
Habitual Gnawing - This character must find things to chew or gnaw on several times a day. They rather enjoy it too.

Rabbit (C)
Size Category: Small (3' 4" to 3' 6")

Attributes:
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
High Jump - This character can jump a LOT higher than normal people. Capable of jumping three times their own height. This doesn't necessarily mean their kick is three times as mean as a normal person's.

Raccoon (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:

Red Panda (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Climbing - This character can climb trees, rocks, etc with ease. Of course, anything with "limbs", such as a tree, is like a walk in the park.
Long Tail - This character's tail is long and can be used to reach things most people this size could not.

Reindeer (C)
Size Category: Medium

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
Tough Extremities -  The hands and feet, being hoofed, are tougher than usual, allowing this character to handle some objects and walk on some surfaces that are too hot, cold, or rough for other characters. This power can be negated in favor of having hands.

Salamander (C)
Size Category: Tiny to Small

Attributes:
Slimy - This character's skin is very slick and can't be held on to.
Excellerated Regeneration - This character not only heals faster than the average mobian, they can even grow limbs back, given time.
Cold Blooded - This character strongly prefers keeping to the sunlight or other warm places and thus loves being near warm blooded people. He or she will slow down significantly going into a semi-contious state where all they wanna do is sleep/hibernate.


Seabear (U)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Racial Loyalty - This character has a strong affinity with others of it's species. They have a brotherhood mentality like a religious organization might, but stronger.
Water Necessity - This character can not endure dry areas very well. This is worth mentioning since the character could very well suffer heat exhaustion from less than half the required amount of dryness and heat a normal person has to suffer.
Dual Breathing - Seabears can breathe both water and air interchangeably.
Adept Swimmers - This character can swim and good. Capable of about ?? mph
Oxygen Dependent - Seabears are not used to having a lack of oxygen due to being able to breath both water and air (thus it's impossible to drown a seabear). Because of this, when there is a noticeable lack of oxygen (such as polluted water/air, smoke, etc), seabears get very desperate for oxygen and can fall unconscious easily from the lack of it. Seabears are usually not able to hold their breath for longer than 10 seconds (Which would make them look blue-faced).

Shrew (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Mighty Incisors - This character can bite into hard substances, such as wood, without much trouble.
Habitual Gnawing - This character must find things to chew or gnaw on several times a day. They rather enjoy it too.

Skunk (U)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Spray - Skunks are well known for their ability to spray a powerfully bad scent at their enemy. Unfortunately, this has no effect on targets that have no sense of smell (Such as SWATbots). The scent is sprayed directly from the skunk's butt. Keep this in mind when designing clothes for the skunk. Also keep in mind that a startled skunk will spray out of reflex.

Squirrel (C)
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Mighty Incisors - This character can bite into hard substances, such as wood, without much trouble.
Habitual Gnawing - This character must find things to chew or gnaw on several times a day. They rather enjoy it too.
Hyper - This character is hyper-active. This causes the character to act like the average person would if they were pumped up with caffeine. They run out of energy three times longer than the average mobian, making it appear as though they have endless energy.
Incredible Equilibrium - What would make most people dizzy is the norm for this character. They can run in circles and do all kinds of acrobatic feats without missing a beat.

Terrapod (U)
Size Category: Huge (Special: May choose abilities from the Large category)

Attributes:
No Claws - This character does not have the "Claws" ability.
Very Strong - Whether this character is ferocious or not, they can do some amazing feats of strength, including being able to make an entire tree shake.
Herbivorous - This character eats only plants and fruit. If the character eats meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.
Speechless - While as sentient as any other race, this character can not speak any language beyond it's own race's... which is probably composed of some form of Morse code anyway.

Tiger (C)

Attributes:
Retractable Claws - This is like the "Claws" ability except your character can retract their claws.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Weasel (C)
Size Category: Small to Medium

Attributes:
Clever - This character has a natural gift for being clever. If the player of this character is having a hard time coming up with an escape plan or doing anything that requires being clever, they can ask the admin to give them a clue or answer to their problem, depending on the situation. This character is likely the one to get others out of a bad situation. This power can be negated with good RP reason.
Skittish - This character is twitchy and has higher reflexes than normal as a result, but is also spooked easily.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Winged Mobian (R)
Size Category: Variable

Attributes:
Flight - This character can fly.
Light Bones - While this makes the character light enough for flight, this also makes their bones easier to break than most any other species. A character with this weakness should avoid fist fights with other characters.
Heritage - This character has the strengths and weaknesses of the non-winged version of it's race. For example, a winged Wolf would have "Loyalty", "Feral Call", "Pack Mentality" and "Carnivorous". If the race you give wings to had "Weakness Required" attached, then you must make a weakness as per the rules.

Wolf (C)
Size Category: Medium (4' 2" to 4' 6")

Attributes:
Loyalty - This character has a natural tendency to be VERY loyal to their friends.
Feral Call - The character with this ability can understand and use the complex howling language of the wild. It is a simple language and is only learned from family.
Pack Mentality - This character shares a special kinship with those of the canine family (Especially those of the character's own race) and will go out of their way to help or even defend the honor of those who are canine.
Carnivorous - This character can only eat meat. If the character eats something other than meat, they will get sick and possibly even die.

Wolverine (C) <-- Weakness Required
Size Category: Small

Attributes:
Size Doesn't Matter - This character is naturally not intimidated by creatures that are as much as 5 times bigger.
