Re: Rippers

I've been running this for about 6 months now, though we had to take a break, due to scheduling problems, and its been awesome. Lots of fun hunting, shmoozing, and having plenty of fun.

As to the whole Rippers/Deadlands crossover concept, I tried it. Didn't go so well, but that was mainly due to my lack of planning with it. I'm pretty sure that if a fair amount of planning were put into it, it would be wonderful, but I personally love both these settings on their own, and that's how, for now, I'll be playin them.

Re: Rippers

The thing about Rippers is that it seems to be perfect for PbP games, as there i s plenty of opportunity for roleplaying.  Schmoozing with the upper crust of society, recruiting new members, delving into the mysteries of Rippertech.

This is one of the games I had thought of starting, along with Necropolis (which I think I have put on hold for now), and a Savage Tale called Zombie Run.  Anyone interested in giving Rippers a try here?

Re: Rippers

If you ran Rippers, I would definately sign up - Give me an excuse to re-read the book and come up woith various ideas, like would I want to risk using Rippertech, what Order I belong to, and so forth.

Van Helsing the roleplay, come on :D

Re: Rippers

I've been interested in a Rippers game too.  It is an intriguing setting that I think would translate well into a Play by post game.  I'd love to play if it were set up.

Re: Rippers

I might be interested...

I picked it up to run with the local group thinking along the lines of what DF said, nice alternate earth setting like Van Helsing or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. But what I ran into was the gaming group were sticklers for historical accuracy, which I don't particularly know and don't have the time to learn.

So I'd be interested, unless I need a PhD in European history ;)

Re: Rippers

No.  You wouldn't have to have a PhD in Britsh Empire and London Underground.  Heck, about the only things I know deeply about Britain is James Bond, Doctor Who, and Benny Hill. <(^_^)>

I'm working on things now.  Does this mean everyone has the book that has shown interest then?  That would save me a heck of a lot of work if that was true.

Re: Rippers

hmmm part of this got lost the first time I posted it... stupid tablet.

I'm definately in then. My experience is almost identical to yours, I just drop Benny Hill and add Top Gear.

As to your question, yes I do have it...

See I have this bad addiction.... I have all the Savage rulebooks that came out in actual print with the exception of Tour. It'd probably have been cheaper if I could have gotten into drugs instead of RPGs ;)

Re: Rippers

I have the book, and I'd be up for it. I've yet to have a chance to be a player in a SW game, only a GM. If your game is gonna be based in a major city (London, Paris, etc) I'd be up for playing a former inspector. A case he was working took a sinister turn, the supernatral evil he discovered killed his wife and children, he turned to the bottle, and left the force. He's not as bad of a drunk now, but still has a problem, and has joined the Rippers to ensure what happened to him doesn't happen to anyone else. He still has contacts on the force, which is why if we'll be a constantly globe-trotting game I'll have to think of something else, as this would basically be a wasted edge.

But yeah, give some details on the game. I'll be waiting, sharpening my Ripper Claws and getting ready to take back the night!

Re: Rippers

Well, I have every book in PDF form, and all but Evernight and ToD in hardback (barring Necropolis of course, which is a PDF print only)  I absolutely love the Savage Worlds system.

I just can't get my local group to convert from D&D 3.5. <(>_<)>

One of these days.

I'll start work on a proper Rippers game then.  I have the framework, but have a little more work to do to get it to a good starting point.  When I have it, I'll post the link under the appropriate area.

I've gotten the rippers game started pretty well.  If you want to join it, an advertisement has been placed uner the Got a Game? thread.

Re: Rippers

I've been reading Zombie Run, and it is definately an interesting Savage Tale.  Not sure I'm ready to run it quite yet, but maybe in the future.  I want to get Rippers established first before I go and open another game.

Re: Rippers

Not really the appropriate place for this, but since it came up in here. If you all wanna play in Zombie Run I could run it. I haven't run a game here on RPOL yet, and that seems like a decent tale to get my feet with.

Re: Rippers

I tried running Zombie Run once but it fizzled due to player inactivity.  But some of the players were active, and I think it could work out really well with the right mix of players.

Re: Rippers

I'm thinking of running this on here myself. I currently have a 50 Fathoms game that is going well, and I think I can fit in a Rippers game. It was either this or Necessary Evil, and Rippers won out for now. Will try NE later.

As you know, I'm already running a game. I don't like to try running more than one at a time.

Re: Rippers

link to another game

Alright you bunch of savages! We are heading to Egypt to kick the collective butts of the evil Cabal. Now if you already have an existing rippers character from another game  I'll consider accepting his/hers sheet so you don't have to make a new guy from scratch. Otherwise make a standard novice character and I may bump them to higher levels to keep up with the others. Please nothing above seasoned.
