Savage Worlds Standards Discussions

Hi all.

I mentioned this in the General Chat, but perhaps we should make a few standards for the Savage Worlds community with regards to games here.  I don't want to make them too deep, but anything would help to make it easier for prospective players and GMs.

As we discuss the various standards, I will place them in a list in the Standards Notice.  These will be standards set for all Savage worlds games, and will allow for ease of notification and information.

Combat Information and Profiles

Hey all

Someone, I think it was either Oggy or Cloth Frog, did this for the first time in the 50 Fathoms game when it was first started.  I think it is a good idea, and allows the player to track the information as if he were sitting in front of hi character sheet.

In the second line of the player's profile, the player could have the following information.

P:8 T:8 W:1 F:0

At a glance for combat, we could see that the player has a parry of 8, Toughness of 8, a single wound (giving a -1 to all rolls) and no fatigue points.

It would be easier on any GM, as well as the players, to provide this information up front.  Sure it gives away a little information, but nothing you wouldn't see at a table.

What do you think?

Re: Combat Information and Profiles

Must have been Oggy.  I've posted the Toughness and Parry but not the wound and fatigue part. Although I like it and it would make the combat much easier for the Gm.

Re: Combat Information and Profiles

It might have been me, but only for P and T

ABs could also include current PP

IN our DL game, we always posted how much ammo was left in our guns after each shot:

quote:
Bob fires three bursts from his thompson at the chargeing cultists
(ammo 41/50)

Re: Combat Information and Profiles

Ah, one of the nice things about Savage Worlds.  So little book keeping.  It's the only game I know where the characters can fit on a 3x5 notecard.  ^_^

In the rippers game I am currently running, someone also posted C:# S:# and R:# for charisma, status and reason.  All important things needed for the game.

I also agree that Power Points need to be tracked, but I almmost think they can be tracked like ammo to some degree.  Only so much room in the profile area.  *grins*

I take it this means it might be a good standard to have for Savage Worlds games then?

Re: Combat Information and Profiles

I also like (in all games) posting race and/or concept.

Certinaly, especially at first, it's nice to tell if the guy who just posted is the dwarf cleric or the elf fighter

Re: Combat Information and Profiles

Here is a posting rule for combat we have just adopted in the 50 fathoms game to see if it helps us speed up action during the combat segments.  Let me know what you think, I'll be interested in feed back from my group how they like it in addition to others in games that use it or something similar.

Once initiative cards are posted all responses must be within 24 hours or your character will be assumed to be on full defense that round.  This applies to all initiatives posted on Monday thru Thursday.  Any initiatives posted on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday will have a response no later than end of day Monday.  If all players are able to post sooner the game may progress faster than this rate.  This is intended to be a minimum.  All Federal Holidays will be treated as a Friday Saturday or Sunday.  You do not need to post in order of initiative that is only to determine the order in which you character acts.  This will be worked out by the GM in the narrative
