Re: Savage Science Fiction

so, games without space and space ships as a big part.

well, there is Post Apoc and Cyberpunk.

A dimension or time travelling type game.

A single planet game, like where the PCs are colonists on a planet.

Or a game where ships are just in the background.  Most modern games have airplanes as a way to travel around, but they arne't focused on the daily operation of a 747.

Re: Savage Science Fiction

I tend to gravitate more towards hard sci-fi, myself. But I'm not close-minded towards anything. If it has a catchy edge to it, I'll play it.

One of my favorite settings of all time is Alternity's Star*Drive. Great stuff there.

Re: Savage Science Fiction

I enjoy pulp and hard sci-fi.  I like the *occasional* ship combat type thing, but mostly I think games should be about characters not ships, especially in a system like Savage Worlds where detailed tweaking isn't possible (I like that too, yay BattleTech).  A single-planet thing would work fine for me. I'm ok with cyberpunk, but I am tired of (traditional) post-apocalypse games. I have no interest in dimension/time traveling games, really. Transhuman type games are ok, I don't have a preference in that regard.

I didn't join the Kane game, so I would probably be open to a sci-fi game.

One thing that could be of interest is Necropolis from the corp perspective, ditching the setting guide's campaign arc (although I'd play that in a heartbeat too).

Re: Savage Science Fiction

I was thinking a galactic secret agent type thing.  Either government, or free-lance / mercenary.  Troubleshooters, sent here and there to investigate and solve problems.

Ships could be used for transportation, but other than the occasional pirate boarding or crash landing, not a big part

Re: Savage Science Fiction

I like that idea. Maybe something like Hammer's Slammers.

Re: Savage Science Fiction

Very much so. It was originally a D6 (starwars) type game which system is horrible. Metabarons had a decent book but only came out with one. I was a really different setting.

Re: Savage Science Fiction

Not sure my friend was the only one who had the book. I have tried to find it but right now I am currently running 3 games. I am overaly busy with all the games and everything going on. I don't think there is enough information for someone to run it.

Re: Savage Science Fiction

Havng read that, it's mostly about the characters, and not a lot about the setting.

How about the Miles Vorkosigan universe?  Travel is by wormholes, so it seems to me that if you know you are about to be invaded you can surround the worm hole and take out the ships one on one.  Alternatly, if you are gong to invade someone, you need to know if they are read.  So lots of spying, subterfuge, etc.
