Don't feel too disappointed, but this kind of thing is likely to happen a lot.  Try to schedule gaming sessions better, and expect to have to put an aggravating amount of effort into keeping players on track.

Re: Arena!

I really couldn't speak of any difference between the WoDs. I barely learned nWoD, and just chose attributes, skills and merits (?) that looked interesting and did what the GM asked. And rolled d10s. So many d10s. D:

The purpose of the night was an all-night gathering for general geekery, watching superhero movies, LAN gaming, and oneshot tabletop RPGs. I wanted to begin with a one-shot so I didn't feel like I had to commit to a campaign in case it didn't work out. I had two PCs; I gather there'd been some kind of Drama with one, the other was still ready, but a solo game would have been awkward. Eh. Un-easy come, easy go. :)

Re: Arena!

The idea of it seemed rather pointless to me at first, like a soap opera set in the BSG-verse. Then I watched it and got hooked. It's great! I'm only a couple of episodes in however, it's only just begun playing here in Australia.

Meanwhile, I'm still halfway through BSG Season 4.

Kara-Tur Anyone???

On the homeworld of Toril, east of Faerûn across the hundreds of miles of open expanse known as the Hordelands, lies a realm of Eastern mystery --- Kara-Tur.
Although it is rare, the wonderous trade of rare goods, extraordinary treasures, and even persons occasionally occurs along the dangerous trade route known as The Golden Way. Other than these rare moments of commerce there is little interaction between the two continents.

However, by the movements of the gods, a bubble of opportunity may open for both native citizen and wayward traveler to explore the places, culture, politics, creatures, magic, religions, and more of the amazing and mysterious Orient. Now is your chance to embrace the world of Kara-Tur....

---------------

I am interested in becoming an RoA DM. We are trying to find out if there is any interest in the reopening of a Kara-Tur Bubble Region.  THIS IS NOT A GAME ADVERTISEMENT, but I am hopeful we can find enough interested players. If you are interested, please let us know by replying in this thread.  If you have friends who may be interested, please pass the word.

Re: Kara-Tur Anyone???

I'd be interested if I could play a Ninja or Samurai.

It is a shame about Caprica.  It had such huge reviews after season 1 too.  I think a lot of people were expecting to see more of the Cylon war.

I myself am a pretty big BSG fan.  I did not like the way Season 4 ended, though I was pleased with how it all ends for Lee Adama - prissy little punk.  :P

Ironically enough, I literally just posted a Battlestar game up before stopping to check on this bright red game tab.

Re: Kara-Tur Anyone???

Ninja is a prestige class but the background, roleplaying, and character building into BECOMING one could be lots of fun.

Samurai is a core class of the Orient (and, along with the Shaman, one of my favorites from the Setting).

Ninja is also a base class in Complete Adventurer, and Samurai is a different base class in Complete Warrior. Either should be playable in this hypothetical Kara-Tur region.

Re: Kara-Tur Anyone???

While that would probably be fine, PC SecretAngel, please remember that RoA has a two character limit except under special circumstances (otherwise known as: when you've been here a very long time and have proven to be a very reliable and easy [enough, at least] to get along with [i.e., not a trouble maker]).  Before expressing interest, you should see if you would even be allowed a third character.  I should also note that if there was enough interest by people with one or no PCs currently and/or by orphans, the answer would be no regardless of your qualifications as priority always goes to those two groups.

EDIT: Just FYI on a side note, I am aware that this thread is nearing the 1000-post limit, but in order to save space (we try though usually fail to keep every thread on just one page on most computer screens) I will not close this thread and open a new OOC until we are at least at post 997/998.  I will be keeping a close eye on it, so no worries.

Blech. The Australian Spring/Summer season is here. Sprummer? Anyway, a 37 degree C day ruins my creativity and makes my computer whine, and the regular power failure loses what I did do anyway. :( Now I'm on a laptop in the dark, it's late night and still hot.

It's a beautiful fall day in the Ozarks here.  I'm wearing jeans and a light sweater as I prepare to take my baby niece and oldest daughter out to my daughter's orthodontist appointment.  You and Anni really should come for a visit right about now.  It would be much cooler for you but much warmer (without being hot for our arctic circle friend) for Anni.  Heck, let's just invite everyone to one of the most beautiful, diverse, historically rich states there is!  :p  We could have a heck of a party.  *giggles*

Hovering around 0 degrees C here, and after about a week of nice, snowy weather, the ground froze to ice two nights ago, making walking and driving pretty much an extreme sport where the winners are the ones who get where they're going without having any accidents.  So far, I'm winning, but I have this feeling it won't be any better tomorrow, heh.  :p

*giggles*  Nope, not Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooklahoma...  :p  (Sorry, as a vocalist, I couldn't help it.  :p)  I live in a state where we actually have more than just dust and the dustbunnies that go with.  :p  Just teasing, but I definitely think the Ozarks are a lot prettier than most of the Western U.S.  There are some nice areas out that way and back East (where I was born), but we've got a little bit of everything right here, not to mention the cleanest, prettiest waterways you've ever seen thanks to the gravel bottoms of our rivers and streams, the limestone and dolomite bedrock we live on, and the fact that we're on an ancient seabed.  :)  Our history, especially geological, is breathtaking.  But then, I'm also a huge geek with a patriotic/loyal streak at least three country miles long.  :p

Re: Kara-Tur Anyone???

Yep.  Oldest mountains in the United States right here.  So old they've weathered down to beautiful rolling mounds full of beautiful trees.  In the fall they are a veritable rainbow of yellows, oranges, reds and still some greens.  The sky goes on for miles and miles.  Oftentimes you can even look for miles without even seeing a single electric pole or line.  It is completely safe to drink much of the water in our streams, and we have an intricate, amazing cave system right beneath our feet.  We're not called the Cave State for nothing here, after all.  I'm so lucky to have everything I want in a place to live right here in one location.  I never have to go very far if I want to see something in particular.  We can even see some of the Northern Lights at times when the sky is clear.  I would like to see them better, though, along with the fjords of Norway.  Thank goodness I'm marrying a Norwegian so he and his ship captain father can give me tours.  :p

I thought so too. But Western Power can't seem to keep up at peak times (summer nights), and they blame the people for it instead. Last summer they threatened to cut power to parts of Perth if usage there got too high, before they broke down. Which I think people ignored, given the choice between sitting in the dark and the heat or sitting in the dark and the heat for a little bit less. Though somehow we dodged that one.

Really, who needs air conditioners on a balmy 35+ C day anyway? :|

In this case, however, we passed a fallen power pole that might have been the cause. It might have been a car accident, but they're all crooked down that street anyway.

Then there's the time a power pole fell down in the bush and started major ruinous bushfires.

Geologically speaking, our tallest features are "the Hills". And our soil is apparently the poorest in the world, just dead grey/black sand, because this is the oldest land-mass in the world. Yep, this is Mordor, only without the volcanoes. (The orcs are the bogans.)

Ah, and now we get cooler weather for a week. :D

Oooooooh, ooooooh, oooooooh!!!  I'm half-elf, half-hobbit then!  :p  Fertile land here.  We grow all kinds of crops on our farms and in our gardens and raise all kinds of yummy animals, too.  :p  But we've also got some amazingly beautiful forests for elves as well.  The only other country I can think of that is as varied and beautiful as the States is New Zealand.  I'm definitely willing to go meet me some hobbits and The Seeker there.  And Kahlan and Cara.  Even Zedd though I'm much more interested in seeing The Seeker build me a bridge.  Shirtless.  A big long one.  Only when he gets to use his hot Aussie accent.  *swoons*
