5e Playtest!

Hi!
I've been given the opportunity to run a D&D 5e (or Next) playtest game. This is a special game in many ways; five heroes are needed, and I will award a spot on a first served basis. Before you fire off a PM however, please note a few things:

All players MUST sign up with WOTC for the playtest.
Characters are pre-gen; once you sign up, pick your choices in order of preference and send to me.
No WOTC material will be shared during the game; you will need to keep track of your sheet, maps, etc yourself.

Information about signup and playtesting is found here:
www.DNDnext.com

Re: 5e Playtest!

Yeah I have signed up for it a while ago, DMed a couple of players and decided its too much like 4e to bother with...

its so not worth it - this is however is my personal views

if you like 3.5 stick with it and dont change

Re: 5e Playtest!

I don't agree. The material looks very early and rough, but my take is that it looks more like early editions than 4e.

Re: 5e Playtest!

Hmm, i had talked to another friend who had a chance to playtest the 5th edition and its mostly like DM solo said and some like Villey said. The way it is now he doesnt like it over much but he also said it was very early and hopefully they can polish off the rough edges before taken more money from us.

Re: 5e Playtest!

From what I've seen of 5e (I've looked over the premade fighter and wizard, but that's it), I like it.  I did not like 4e and (without playing it) this feels like enough of a step away from what I felt they did wrong with 4e that I think I will be a big fan.

Re: 5e Playtest!

I thought you weren't allowed to test 5E over the internet?

Re: 5e Playtest!

At one point there was a stipulation that you couldn't play in an online medium, but that was lifted.

What has been limited is who can see the materials.  Only those that have signed up for the play test can have access to the documents.

For this reason, none of the actual playtest material has been uploaded to the RoA games, and the game itself is being played in a private thread on one of the other game boards of RoA.

Re: 5e Playtest!

UPDATE:
There was a new playtest packer released last week, including rules for creating characters and two new classes: sorcerer and warlock.
There is also a new adventure out taking place in the Underdark.

There is an opportunity to join this playtest, and those will have to download all material from the wizard's playtest pages, and submit character(s) to DM Solo.

In reply to DM solo (msg # 8):

I think I'd like to help test it out.  Should I do anything other than just begin creating a character?

Re: 5e Playtest!

Yup: download the packet (and associated registration with WoTC) and demand access to the ROA: One shot and orphanage game

Re: 5e Playtest!

New playtest packet out today. This time support for higher level play (14 and up). This isn't something we do everyday here in ROA, so I wonder if there is interest to try it out. Join following the instructions above.

Re: 5e Playtest!

If no one disagrees, this locale is under new management. The Evil Sessions are taking over. Also welcome, chaotic, neutral (just barely) & other ner-do-wells. Goodie wonders of any sort will be made examples of.

Re: 5e Playtest!

Hiya!
Please follow the links to the place best suited for a 5e game.
DM Aslani76, you already have GM access there and should be able to set up everything there.
This board happens to be the community chat for all of RoA and we don’t want to clutter it up with posts from a game only a few are playing in.
Thanks!

Re: 5e Playtest!

If anyone wants to join in the 5e game and doesn’t have access, please send an RTJ in the game the above links take you to.
Thanks!
