I think you should do it as 3rd ed....:)  Then I can get in on the ground level....lol.  That and 4th ed was horrible.  I bought the book and as like wth is this?  This isn't l5r.

Relevant to this game: very frustrating to be so good at Interrogation -- and getting absolutely nothing from the interrogation ...

To the other game: I was thinking of trying to reprise a concept I played for a while, before the other game died. He was a "true-blood" Kitsu that took his job seriously. Headed a monastery overlooking ... the Lake of Sorrows(?) I think it's called. Anyhow, he also had a "Kitsu-Only" path as well ... which I for the life of me cannot remember either ...

You've actually gotten quite a bit from him, but he's also kind of a dumbass (idealistic, brash, and low intelligence,  not a great combo)

Well my impression is that there isn't much more to really get from this guy... it sounds like they operate on a "Cell" basis, so that the capture of one will not result in the revelation of enough to collapse the entire organization.

Besides... don't we have a 2nd prisoner to interrogate?  This is the wounded one that was healed but then there is the prisoner Hajime tracked down with the others and brought in later that night, right?

Hmm... I might see if I can squeeze in one more game (RL has been tough for me lately, though a few of my other games have sadly recently died).

I may try a Dragon (Mirumoto) or Unicorn (Moto) bushi (though I guess that would be Ki-Rin rather than Unicorn).

Both would be something of a change from my usual Crane/Imperial characters.  ;)

The only Bushi/Shugenja school I know of is the Kuni Witch Hunter/Kuni Shugenja (with the path to switch). The only other thing even close that I have seen is the Soshi Deceiver, but you can't be a bushi with it, just a ninja. Did I miss some somewhere else?

there's also the Tamori shugenja school, which has a martial focus, but neither the Tamori Shugenja or Kuni Witch hunters are available (because they haven't been created yet).  The Asako Inquisitor school has a martial focus and exists, but it's really small and doesn't have nearly the prestige as it does later

Ah, ok; I thought you meant there were other shugenja schools/paths that actually were marked bushi, or other bushi schools/paths actually marked as shugenja; I believe the only one that qualifies thus is the Kuni path that leads from Kuni Witch Hunter (bushi) to Kuni Shugenja, or visa versa (depending on where you start). I think Asako Inquisitor is a monk school that allows you to enter either as a shugenja or a bushi (advanced school, I think), and the Tamori Shugenja school is a shugenja school but with more martial leanings (weapons skills, etc). That was my confusion. :)

Either way it sounds as if Sumiko won't really have any of the selections (except Asako Inquisitor, I guess) available.
