Lol, the one game I'm running with the potential for romantic tension and it's the only NOT adult game that's active.

So I might be able to return to the game from my prior hiatus.

Of course, if things are going to focus on a Crane (or Crane & Scorpion) oriented "troubleshooting team"... then an Imperial who is also an Emerald Magistrate may not be the best character.

While I like Hajime, I'm not sure he fits well (potentially there is too much of a discrepancy between his status/position and that of the other Clan PCs).

Oddly enough, Hajime actually was capable of playing in the Go Tournament... though I will admit that I was unsure whether he would have had time to play/compete while conducting a full scale investigation at the same time.

That said, the Go Tournament could still serve as a nucleus event around which things are happening but more as a plot device rather than an actual challenge/event for PCs to take part in (the PCs will deal with events unfolding around the Go Tournament rather than participating directly in the tournament).

If need be, I don't object to potentially changing my character to better suit a revamped campaign (actually I have been toying around with the idea of playing a Monk, which would put him somewhat outside the Clan system but not as dramatically as an Otomo Emerald Magistrate).

I am the only character who was looking forwar to the tournament?  LOL.... I was enjoying all of Sumiko's plots however.

Well not exactly, I was curious to see how Hajime performed in the Go Tournament... but as events unfolded and Hajime became embroiled in an ever enlarging investigation/conspiracy, I couldn't help but feel that ultimately Hajime would have to put his Go playing aside and focus on Duty and the investigation.

So I'm not sure whether Hajime really would have been able to avail himself of the Go Tournament with everything else going on (in the shadows).

I was looking forward to the tournament as well. But I am up for whatever is decided

Excellent, I will definitely reuse that in the reboot.  I think, I need to give y'all some clearer direction, because (except for Kedo, who somehow ended up with the info that would make a lot of this make sense) y'all are skirting the edges of the central plot.  So!  Three possible options:
1) continue on as we have been
2) reorganize with everyone as part of a troubleshooting team
3) assign the team to Ryoko Owari as part of the Crane/Scorpion treaty to help the Scorpion reestablish dominance in their lands

Those are just the three I've considered, I'm open to other options

Any works for me; I was closing in on Kedo, though I didn't know he was on to the plot, I would welcome allies who knew what I was up to, though, so options 2 and 3 work well too.

Well, it would help if Kedo didn't keep wandering off on his own. I mean, here I am doing my darndest to get him in the Go tournament, and he volunteers for sentry duty ... ;p

As for me ... I don't really know. I've lost all of my co-conspirators / investigators ...

 Heh, all Kedo wanted to do was make a perfect sword in order to win the hand of the woman he loves without anyone having to die for it... And people keep dragging him into monumental conspiracies and major battles!

So thus far the PCs (Players) who have voiced a desire to continue playing (or in my case return to the game) are:

Daidoji Sakura [along with Daidoji Kasumi and perhaps Bayushi Kenshin?] - Crane (secretly Scorpion) Shugenja [along with another Crane/Scorpion Shugenja and perhaps a Crane-trained Scorpion Bushi?]

Kedo - Ronin Bushi? [former Dragon Bushi?]

Asahina Byako - Crane Courtier?

Shosuro Sumiko - Scorpion Courtier?

Kitsu Ikage - Lion Bushi?

Otomo Hajime - Imperial Bushi (Emerald Magistrate)


I see on the Cast List that Miya Shishako has logged on but has not yet stated whether she wants to return/continue playing.


So a mix of Crane & Scorpion with a Ronin, Lion, and Imperial thrown into the mix?  Presently the Crane and Scorpion Clans have a Treaty establishing "cordial" relations between them while the Crane and Lion Clans just recently had a confrontation/conflict that is currently resolved/subsided (but not doubt bad feeling remains)... and finally the Emperor is coming to town for Winter Court (whlie a major Go Tournament is about to commence).

You must have missed my "1000th post celebration". *lol* -- yeah, I'm playing all three. It was, of course, just two before the Great Void Dragon Incident^TM ... *lol*

If you give the GM a Plot Hook^TM it will be taken advantage of ...



I suspect (IC) that Miya Shishako is Asahina Byako.

As far as choices go, I'm torn. If we keep going, then we have continuity. On the other hand, if we shift to Ryoko Owari we can formally return the "twins" to the Scorpion Clan; she (they) would be Scorpion again. (Perhaps through marriage ... it would be a well deserved reprieve for at least one of them).

Yes Sumiko is a courtier but I am trying to figure out what to do with her after she gains a rank.

 Gaining a rank, I wish... That would actually make Kedo dangerous. ^_-

Okay, so if I'm understanding everyone right, y'all like the backdrop of the Go Tournament and winter court. Y'all like the set up so far, but given the recent posting rate, there's some confusion about how to proceed.

Okay!  I'm going to review the threads, post some resolution for everyone (so that you don't feel interrupted in what you're doing) and put up a "coming together thread" so that y'all can get some marching orders (except for Kedo, that guy can derail a plot by visiting a bath house ^_^)

 For me, the tournament seems to work better as a backdrop to something else rather than the primary plot focus, and I would definitely enjoy a single primary plot thread with side-shoots for individual interests rather than the web we currently have. Of course, that said I recoil violently from most of the things some of us consider way cool, so your mileage may vary. ^_^

no, no, that makes sense.  I think my mistake was not giving everyone the same direction to go in before letting everyone scatter.

If you take the time to build a rich back story, I will most definitely exploit...I mean use it ^_^

FYI: I'm not trying to screw with Kedo -- it's just too perfect to ignore.

 Fortunately, the rumour is wrong and it needs to be a Katana... Otherwise I would accidentally have completed my plot arc months ago. ^_^
