What Minor Clans exist and what are the prizes?

The Clans that will be participating and the prizes for their test are as follows:

Badger: A heavy weapon bearing the Badger mon, and unlimited access to training with the Ichiro sensei in all Badger dojo.

Centipede: An elaborate kimono created with the winner’s Clan and Family mon, and a satchel of scrolls for shugenja contestants.

Dragonfly: A private reading with shugenja sensei to divine the winner’s future.

Falcon: An assortment of ward ribbons used to protect the bearer from malicious spirits, an exquisite falcon-themed helmet, and an actual trained hunting falcon.

Fox: An advanced herbalism kit that provides 2 Free Raises to Medicine (Herbalism) skill Rolls and lasts twice as long as the normal item, and a scroll satchel of spells for shugenja winners.

Hare: A scribe to record the tale of the winner’s exploits in an epic play or book. When complete, the winner gains a number of Glory Points equal to the scribe’s Storytelling Skill.

Mantis: A sizeable sum of koku, and papers allowing free passage throughout the seas of Rokugan on any Mantis vessel.

Monkey: A fine quality katana with the Monkey mon engraved into the hilt.

Sparrow: An exquisitely rendered copy of the Tao.

Tortoise: A number of legal gaijin trinkets, a small kobune, tortoise-shell armor (value equals 3 x normal price of armor).

Wasp: A Tsuruchi longbow.

Yes, the Falcon, Wasp, Centipede, and Mantis are no longer Minor Clans, but their elevation or absorption happened so recently that their identity as members of the Great Clans hasn’t fully sunk in yet.

Posts are up for people who might need some coaxing to the Tournament or need the stakes they're playing for clarified.  I haven't posted anything for the Scorpion or Minor Clan players yet, since their stakes are pretty self explanatory--though I can amend that if you have questions.

Yup, I'm still working on a whole group intro post, but a few people need prologues to transition from Saving Toshi Ranbo to Minor Clan Tournament.

I see the post, but since it wasn't me that agreed to that ... I'm not entirely sure what to do.

It's just informational--you don't have to justify it to Kuwanan, just inform him.  I just want to know how y'all perceive the various deals that came out of Volume 1--it's been a while, so it's also a refresher.

Yes, each test is its own, self contained event.  I'm going to rule that you have to enter every test to win the whole thing, but nothing prevents you from just entering the ones you're interested in.

Important Question... with the "erasure" of much of the recent IC activity... would Hajime know or have met any of the other PCs before the Tournament?

I believe Hajime met/encountered most if not all of the PCs during the recent IC activity (signing up for the Go Tournament, the ninja night attack on the Imperial Quarters, the questioning of the ninja prisoners, the meeting with the Crane Clan Champion)... all of which has now been "erased" I believe?

Hard to remember all that. *lol* (Bayushi) Shinobu's pregnancy hasn't been announced yet, IIRC; Kenshin no longer has Lesson; and he's back to square one as far as being inducted into the Imperial Legions.

It's possible, however, for Hajime to know Shinobu (when she was Seppun Shinobu) or to have even met Kenshin (he hangs out with more than his fair-share of imperials). At the very least, who she is would be pretty obvious as she'll be the one wearing the Scorpion Kimono with the Seppun Shugenja School Mon on it.

There aren't a whole lot of those floating around ...

No, not an enemy. Sakura & Kasumi have a secret, and some of those pesky Isawa are too close to the truth. That's only an issue if you're an Ishi, but what Isawa PC isn't an Ishi? *lol*

It was actually very hard to pass up on the void spells, but I played a Phoenix Fire/Void specialized shugenja/craftsman in a several year long in-person campaign and wanted to do something entirely different from that.

So, I have a water Tensai, with no void spells, and Fire spells severely hampered.

So ... for the Grand Prize, does it have to be a specific Samurai or is it a Clan thing? Thinking about entering Kenshin in all of the competitions, in spite of the fact that his skill level for a huge chunk of them is Zero.

Well, if it works the same as other tournaments, it would be a specific samurai with the authority to appoint underlings

So I apparently forgot to ask -- what are the skill tests (and relevant skills)?
