At this time last year, you had no idea what you were getting into. Most of you came from one of the simple farming villages surrounding Pingbo Lake. You came to Zhaoyao, knowing that masters of the martial arts, spellcasting, the arts, and more took in students here, and you knew you were destined to learn at their feet.

But it was more than learning - much more. Your minds and bodies have been honed like steel, and now each of you possess the skills to defeat a number of normal men, bare-handed, or with weapons or spells. Whether you serve the monastery, a lord, a master, or no one but yourself, you have been well prepared for the tasks ahead.

It's a good- and neutral-aligned party, out to earn honor and glory (and treasure!), so no ninja allowed.

Every PC starts in Lower Middle Class.

If you qualify for samurai, but cannot afford a katana at the beginning, you will just have to make do with something else until you can afford one.

A kensai who wishes to specialize in katana may make do at 1/2 exp with the boku-toh until he can afford a katana. (The way I hand out treasure that may only take one adventure, possibly two. We'll see.)

Martial arts may be learned by every PC as a Plan B, if you will. I will be cribbing skills from the free Flying Swordsmen RPG, and I thank the writer, Dennis Laffey, for making it available.

When combat occurs, I will handle initiative rolls, so you'll just need to roll a to-hit and a damage roll each round. If I need a save or any other roll, I'll ask you for it.

I think we have a good mix of classes, since we haven't had many duplicates yet.
