Some general information about Nemrac

Nemrac is situated in a wide valley, about fifteen to twenty miles across, bounded on the east and west by high cliffs hundreds of feet high.  All of the mines lie at the base of these cliffs.  Four of the five mines have a small village outside the mine's entrance, while one has a fair-sized town.  There are also other five other towns and villages, as well as the capital, Nemrac City, which is entirely carved into one of the cliffs.  Some of the local gnomes say the grand space was a gift from Flandal.

Dominating the center of the valley is a huge tower of rock that stands a thousand feet high.  The gnomes have named this Flandal's Tower and to this day no one even thinks of quarrying for stone there even though at its base the formation is several miles across.  All Nemrac's roads give Flandal's Tower a wide berth.

At the southern end of Nemrac, the village Curbral marks the last settlement before the valley turns to undeveloped wilderness.  To the north, the road from Delkrag arrives at the Newford Border Station, where all are turned back except for licensed merchants and the very rich.  Those who try to sneak across are either captured and returned to Nemrac, or never heard from again.  Some say that the missing folk are executed by Newford's constables, and some say that the wide valley to the north is home to all sorts of monsters, who must have eaten the poor souls.
