Yep, I started Chie in April 2017, and I'm just shy of 5th level now (less than 100xp to go). And Kensai have one of the slowest progression tracks in the game.

Play whatever you would enjoy.  There is no new party established yet. (Although I assume Jeff will move the one new player we have to the other group once the current adventure is complete)

Depends on the size of the second party, actually - I like your seven PCs where they are, for now, anyway.

I bought Oriental Adventures at a garage sale when I was like 12. I don't think it ever got use in the 30ish years I've owned it.

In the late 90s, after a 2-month homestay in Japan, I ran a game for my friends using OA and the 2E Complete Ninja Handbook. It was set in the prefecture where I'd stayed, including using the layout of a castle and temple I'd visited as dungeons. Lots of fun.

When I was playtesting Chanbara (available from DriveThru! Sorry, couldn't resist the plug) I pulled out those old notes and used them again.

Btw I got a small thing here to post for anyone interested in adapting their family in their character sheet! Just quote it and edit out my stuff and add or use as needed for your own, or not!

I added two extra lines in to account for great aunts & uncles in the grandparents generation and your first cousin's once removed. As you can see in my family line I'm supposed 16th in line to be head of the family after my grandfather if no one else were to have children or kept dying one after the other suspiciously. My father's younger brother disgraced us all and our honor by being a terrible thief.
