Sydovo lijepo čelo se namrštilo i vidjelo se da mu se nije svidio shifterov odgovor. Ali s obzirom na situaciju moglo je biti i gore.

" I happen to know a certian warforged...so what do you say about a wizard and a warforged?" Samozadovoljno se nasmješio čekajući njegovu još jednu burnu reakciju...

Tarkelovo dlakavo lice se razvuklo u zubati osmjeh. "Sounds perfect! It could even work...but you understand that I'll take nothing less than a hundred sovereigns for this job?!"

Syd je neočekivano primio shifterovu pozitivnu reakciju. " Oh, than we have a deal." Nasmješio se i preko stola pružio Tarkelu ruku...

Pljunuvši u svoju dlakavu ruku, Tarkel je uzvratio rukovanje. "If you trick me, may the Keeper take you. Now, if that's all, I need to return to Puler's place. My kid's alone with that bear..."

Ustajući se od stola, shifter upita: "You pick me up tomorrow mornin'?"

Syd se duboko u sebi pohvalio jer je sasvim uspješno uspio sakriti izraz gađenja kad je ovaj pljunuo u ruku. Umjesto toga, samo mu je uzvratio jednako jakim stiskom ruke. " Ummm...I won't trick you. Besides if I do so Puler will probably deny me his books for a whole eternity. Yes, I'll pick you up tomorrow morning, at 7 bells and halfring. " I on se ustao od stola i krenuo niz zavojite stepenice prema dolje, na izlazu srdačno pozdraviši vlasnicu.

Syd i Tarkel su se rastali kada su stigli do dokova. Syd je gledao u shifterova pleća koja su se gubila u sjenama kuća, dok je ovaj krenuo prema Pulerovu dućanu. Polu vilenjak je nastavio svoj lagani hod uzbrdo prema svojoj kući. Ulicama su prolazili umorni ribari i mornari koji su se vraćali svojim skromnim kućama nakon posla. Večina ribara će opet na pučinu oko jedanaestog zvona navečer, sa velikim lanternima na pramcima svojih brodica, svjetlošću dozivajući ribu u noći.

Kada je ušao u kuću, nije čuo ni zvuka od warforgeda kojeg je ostavio. Ušavši u dnevni boravak, vidio ju je nadvitu nad jednim od njegovih ogromnih tomova. Oči su joj bile sužene u tom polumraku sobe, te su se živo pomicale kako je čitala. Čuvši Sydov tihi ulazak, podigla je pogled.

"Greetings commander. Do dragons really exist?" Upitala je odmah. Syd je primjetio da je tom koji je držala bio jedan od mnogih iz Sydove zbrike egzotične zmajologije. Knjiga se zvala The Three Creator Dragons.

Syd se umorno izvalio na naslonjač i počeo izuvati čizme. Pogledao ju je i od srca se nasmijao. " I see you liked my books. Well...some people belive they do, some don't. I am among of those who believe in their existence." Pokazao je rukom na veliki žuti smotak koji se nalazio na samom rubu stola.    „You see...that is the map of Eberron, and the continent of Argonnessen is the land of the dragons. They are a very big mystery, you know. I see you have an interest in such things." Ostao je u polu ležećem položaju u svojem naslonjaču i smješkajući gledao ju kako zaintereresirano čita. " So, what else did you find worth mentioning?”

"Why are the three dragons called creators? They did not create the warforged. Humans created warforged." Okrenula se prema pergamentu i razmotala ga. Zagledala se u njega, no opet podigla pogled prema Syd. "The continent of dragons has a defensible position. The dragons, if they really exist, chose their land wisely."

" Well...you see, they are called the creators because they created the Eberron we know today. Once the world was unique and the rulers of that world were the dragons. The three most powerful were Siberys, Eberron and Khyber, as I sure you read in book. Now, they discovered the Prophecy, and that is simply put the patterns of the world since its creation. Not even the dragons really know what it is for real. But when they discovered it, or maybe even created it the world basically exploded and it was divided into three parts which are known today. The Dragon Below, the Dragon Between and the Dragon Above. Each of the parts bears a name of one the three creators. "

"You get it...thou they didn't create you, I would dare say they did create something as equally important. "

Sydu se sve više sviđala njegova nova poznanica jer dosad je jedina osoba s kojom je imao priliku razgovarati bila je Hazala, a ona baš nije bila poznata po tome da zna slušati. Ona je više vodila monologe. Warforged je bio pravo osvježenje za Syda...

"Understood. Have you ever seen a dragon?" HU-S4 je imala gotovo dječju znatiželju, te je Syd imao osjećaj da ovo neće stati tako brzo. Spustila je veliki tom o zamjevima na jednu hrpu knjiga kraj sebe, te opet uzela onu mapu Eberrona.

"If I had seen a dragon I wouldn't be here now. They are not famous for their hospitality. Actually, they see humans and other humanoid rases as inferior, and are also rather particular about visitors to their continent. There were many expedition to Argonnessen but nobody ever came back to tell tales. There are also many cults who worship the dragons, but if they go there they stick to a certain limit which the dragons proscribed. "

" Why? Would you maybe like to meet a dragon?" Syd je namjerno izazivao njezinu očito neiscrpnu znatiželju želeći vidjeti koliko će daleko ići. To je bio jedan od razloga zašto je Syd imao simpatije prema warforgedovima...bili su tako znatiželjni o svemu što ih je okruživalo, a to je Syd lako mogao povezati sa svojom vlastitom osobnošću.

"No. They have superior fighting capabilities, and I do not believe my attempts of diplomacy would work with them. But the thought of a being living for thousands of years...I have 3 years, 2 months and 12 days. And that seems like a long time for me. It is...interesting." Zanimljivo je rekla neakako nevoljko, kao da to inace nije dio njenog rječnika.

" That is a good decision, I must say. Thou I think it would be interesting to hear what would the dragons have to say about the warforged. "

" Hey, remember what I told you when I was leaving the house...we should think a nickname for you. Is their something special you could think of?"

"The soldiers with whom I served in the War called me Medic." Izvadila je jednu knjigu sa police dok je govorila, te svako malo podigla pogled da bi pogledala Syda. Izvana je zvonilo 7 zvono, te se lagani sumrak počeo spuštati na ulice Regalporta. Magične ulične lampe su se počele paliti (ulična rasvjeta je postojala samo u bogatijem dijelu Regalporta), te se hladnoća počela uvlačiti u kuću kroz otvorene prozore...

Bila je prava proljetna noć...

" Medic sounds fine for now until we come up with a more sutiable name. What, you aren't a least bit curious about where was I? " Nasmijao se kao malo vragolasto dijete...

"I am. But you shall tell me if you wish so." Nastavila je skuplajti knjige, te ih stavljati na jednu hrpu. Pomno je svaku promotrila, te nakon par sekundi razmišljanja ili ju vratila nazad ili stavila na tu istu hrpu.

" I wish to tell you, especially because you are coming with me. That is if you want? Tomorrow morning we will have to acquiesce a certain object from an Orien courier.Anything you want to know fell free to ask me..."

"Will the courier arrive to this house?" 'Forged očito nije shvatio što znači pribaviti jedan predmet...

"Ummm...noooo. You and me, and a shifter I know will have to go and find the courier. And there is a great possibility that he won't be so eager to hand it over to us. You see, the thing I want isn't technically mine, but it also isn't his."

"So we will have to apply force to accomplish the objective. Understood. Are there any other priorities tan acquiring the object?" Nije uopće reagirala kada je Syd insinuirao da bi morali ukrasti taj predmet.

"Yes force. But I would pleased if the use of force would be minimum, which I'm afraid won't be so easy to accomplish. Yess...I would like you to keep an eye on our shifter. You will meet him tomorrow, his name is Tarkel and he has a habit of being quite violent."

"Understood. Spustila je pogled te se zagledala u svoja stpala te lčagano opet podigla glavu. "Commander...I have no weapons. I had to sell my bow and mace to pay for the boat trip." Začudo, zvučala je kao da joj je neugodno!

Syd ju je pogledao ispod obrva i lagano se nasmješio." Don't you worry, for tomorrow I will borrow you my bow and for the rest we will get you any weapon you like. If there's anything you need, don't be shy to tell me." Brižno ju je pogledao dok je birala knjige i na trenutak se zaista osjetio kao roditelj. Ali on je zasigurno imao najčudnije i najjače dijete u cijelom Eberronu.

" And can you tell me something more about your physical needs...do you sleep, eat and stuff like that?"

"Understood, commander." Ostala je stajati na mjestu, te je čini se našla sve knjige koje je tražila. "The warforged do not need to eat, nor sleep. If it isn't a problem, I'll remain here in the living room. With the books."

" Yes, of course you can stay, and could you not call me commander. It so much remainds me of the war. Call me Syd, or Sydney, or mister Syd...just not commander. " Njegovo mladoliko i lijepo lice na trenutak se učinilo istinski umornim i molba koju je uputio warforgedu je bila izrečena najiskrenije što je mogao.

" Would you like me to leave you alone now? So you can dedicate yourself to the books?"
