Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Mid-Round Update:

Against the hail of arrows, the undead suddenly decided to withdraw, displaying rather intelligence than they had any right to possess. The skeleton backed up the corridor, and the hobgoblin zombie shuffled after it, moaning with disappointment. [S1 and H move to G4 and G5. H provokes AoOs from Garel and Jorn, still has cover.]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Jorn takes advantage of the zombie's movements to slash at it with his axe, its sharp metal edge slicing through the putrid flesh. Blasted zombies, with their thick hides...

AOO:

03:42, Today: Jorn Brightcaller rolled 5 using 1d6+3. Axe Damage.
03:42, Today: Jorn Brightcaller rolled 19 using 1d20+5. Axe 2nd Attack.

Not letting up on the blow the Tren-dwarf chases after the zombie, sending another slash deep into its chest;

OOC: Not any more. ;) The undead have retreated up the corridor, and Jorn is pursuing. Locations are below.

Mid-Round Update:

The zombie ignored Garel's attempt to trip it, barely noticing.

Jorn pursued the zombie, hacking and slashing at it and carving off great chunks until the flesh was barely hanging from its bones. But now he found himself holding off the undead advance, face-to-face in the narrow corridor. [Jorn: attacks hit, deal full damage. H critically damaged]

With an eerie moan, the hobgoblin zombie swung its sword at Jorn, scoring a solid hit through his scales into his neck and gashing him. [HZ attack 23, rolled a 20, critical 10 no. Damage 4 @ Jorn]</orange>

The two skeletons fired a pair of arrows - both of which thudded into the zombie's back without effect. Bony jaws scraped in annoyance. The one in back reached a claw for the one of the doors and dragged it open. [Skeletons: attack 17, 17, both miss. #2 opens door H3]

Jorn grunts as he sends his axe slicing through the zombie's hide. The dwarf gracefully completes the move by side-stepping backwards, just in time for Gurgun to lunge forward with his fists;

"I can get used to this," smiled Jorn, enjoying the new-found experience of direct combat.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Mid-Round Update:

Suddenly a green glow illuminated the crowded corridor, and a burning mass floated around the corner, high in the air against the ceiling. Peering through the green flames, they saw four elven skulls, inscribed with arcane sigils, each wreathed in eldritch green fire that worked to conceal their locations. They bobbed and weaved through the air as they orbited one another. [Flameskulls: move to G3, 10ft up. Spellcraft checks for Jorn and Garel in diceroller]

As one, they spoke elven words in a dry, rasping voice. [Private to Jorn Brightcaller; Slove: "Fall back! Take the door ways, surround them!"]

Then the skulls glared at the attackers and hissed "Die!" From one, a pair of green fiery rays lanced forth from its empty eye sockets. Gurgun threw himself aside and dodged one ray, but Garel wasn't so lucky, and was struck by stinging hit against his chainmail. [Flameskulls: 2 fire rays. Touch attack 11, miss. Touch attack 24, hit. 4 fire damage at Garel]

[Private to Jorn Brightcaller: Spellcraft 30: You recognise a mirror image spell in effect.]

Beneath the burning skulls, the skeletons rattled in response to its commands. The one behind fired an arrow through its fellow, but the shaft got stuck in what was left of its rib cage. It stepped back into the doorway it had opened earlier, making room for the one in front. [S2 attack 13, miss, 5ft step to H3]

That skeleton dropped its bow to the ground, and slashed its bony claws across Gurgun's face, but the hobgoblin moved back and missed them by less than an inch. It backed up, moving around the other corner. [S1 attack 18, miss. Moves to F3. Gurgun, you may make an AoO: #1 has AC 13, 3 hitpoints]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Gurgun feels the hand of Garel on his shoulder blade, as the priest invokes the power of his god in a short prayer. A radiant light runs on the hobgoblin's body and encases it in a softly glowing aura.

Garel then steps back and retreats behind the corner, behind Jorn, letting some room in the corridor for Jorn and Slove, should they want to get near the undead.

"Think we can handle them ?", he shouts. "I will try to make them flee only if things get out of hand"

Gurgun burst through the exploding skeleton and leapt into the air after the burning skulls. He waved his staff in the air, but failed to meet any of them before he landed neatly back on the floor. [Gurgun: Jump 23, that'll do it. Attack misses.

The skeleton in the doorway took a swipe at the hobgoblin and missed. Gurgun glanced to the other side, and of course, saw another zombie hobgoblin hurtling down the corridor at him, sword chopping the air. [S2 AoO attack 7, miss.]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

OOC: I'll assume you mean the flameskulls, as they're the only ones in range. Also, I'll put you in G6, since Jorn occupies G7 already.

Slove maneuvered his way into the corridor, to a point where he could get a clear shot at the burning skulls. Nocking an arrow, he raised his bow, and tracked their movements for a brief time. Then he let fly. The arrow sped towards one of the skulls, but passed harmlessly through the concealing flames. [Slove: choose a mirror image 1d4 = 1, chose the real skull. Miss due to concealment, 13, fail. Attack missed.]

The flameskull hissed in annoyance anyway, and floated back behind the corner out of sight. As it retreated, two more rays of green fire shot from its eye sockets at Gurgun, but the monk threw himself against the wall to avoid them. [Flameskull moves to A3, fire rays touch attacks 17 and 14, both miss]

Behind him, the skeleton in the doorway had dropped its bow, and tried to rake him with its claws, with little success. [S2 attacks 3 and 7, miss]

But the distraction had been enough. The undead hobgoblin warrior behind him moaned and charged down the corridor, and the rusty sword swung high and landed hard on Gurgun's back, tearing open cloth and skin and flesh alike. [Hobgoblin Zombie: charge, attack 24 (19), critical confirm 23, success. Damage 10, critical damage 7, total damage 17 @ Gurgun]

Two more skeletons clattered down the corridor behind the zombie, the one in front kneeling as they bow loaded their bows and fired. Their arrows only struck the zombie in the back. [S3 and S4 attack 14 and 9, miss]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Seeing Gurgun in difficulty, flanked by two enemies, Garel decides it is time to get back into the fray. He starts running past Slove and Jorn and finishes besides Gurgun, attacking the skeleton at his back. With an academically perfect high strike aimed at the skull, he unleash all the strength he is capable of on the soulless creature.
