Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Gurgun holds back a scream of pain as the zombie tears into his back. Not even turning to face him he kicks back hard before spinning around and following up with a second kick to the head, trading precision for power.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Mid-Round Update:

Gurgun's back kick struck the zombie in the stomach, and it groaned sickeningly as decayed organs were crushed and gases burst from its mouth. But his spinning kick to the head only narrowly brushed past the zombie's slack face. [Gurgun: 1st attack hits due to charge penalty, deals 6 damage after DR, H moderately damaged]

Garel raced to Gurgun's aid and thrust his staff around the corner at the skeleton. The butt caught it right in the eye socket, and knocked the skull right off. But the headless skeleton remained upright and fighting strong. [Garel: attack hits, deals full damage, S2 seriously damaged]

"Gurgun! Retreat and let me take point! Them claws'ill haf a tougher time geting through me armor!" called Jorn.

As he spoke, the swarf swungs his chain over Garel's shoulder, trying to smash the skeleton with its weight;

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Mid-Round Update:

Jorn swung his chain over the heads of Garel and Gurgun, a rather dangerous tactic with a linked weapon. But the chain hit the corner and swung around, the dead of the spiked end enough to smash open the skeleton's rib cage, and it fell down in a clatter of bones. [Jorn: attack hits, deals 2 damage - just enough to knock it to 0 hp and thus it is destroyed]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Slove's arrow flew harmlessly past the skulls. [Slove misses]

Yet the flameskulls retaliated, sending another pair of green fiery rays towards Gurgun and Slove. Gurgun ducked, letting the zombie take the brunt of the damage meant for him. But Slove had no such cover, and was struck dead on the chest. Flames exploded around the elf. It hissed in elven "You should not have come here, forest dweller! Mourel's secrets are his alone! You must be destroyed!" [Flameskull: fire rays. Attack 20 @ Gurgun, missed due to cover/shooting into melee. Attack 28 @ Slove, critical confirm 22, success. Fire damage 7, critical 5, total fire damage 12 @ Slove]

The skeletons let fly with their arrows, again thudding into the zombie's back. It was proving to be a useful shield. [Skeletons attack 14, 16, miss]

It didn't seem to mind though, and hacked at Gurgun again, but the monk deflected the blade with a flat-handed slap. [Zombie attack 17, miss]

Garel follows his first quite successful attack with a jab of the tip of his staff on the forefront of the skeleton, but this second strike is much less efficient than the first and fails miserably.

Gurgun seems to loose patience with this constricted battle, and rushes towards the zombie clearly to try and push straight over him. Follow me!

OOC: I'm going to try an overrun action. So, the zombie gets an AoO (if he can make one, they're soooo slow). Then we do a strength check.

OOC: Garel, the nearest skeleton to you was destroyed last round. Let's make it the zombie instead.
Gurgun - cool, I don't think I've seen an overrun done before.

Mid-Round Update:

Gurgun kicked the zombie and used it as springboard to leap up and run over it, dodging its clumsy sword swing. But the zombie was heavier than he thought, and refused to go down. Instead, it grabbed his legs and tried to throw him back down to the ground. [HZ: AoO attack 12, strength check 13, beats Gurgun. Mid-Round Update:

Gurgun pushed his way out of the zombie's grip, and fell back to the ground, standing upright.

One of Slove's arrows went wide, but the flew straight and true. It sped towards one of the burning skulls and hit it - and it vanished. He'd struck and destroyed one of the images, but it was one less to aim at now. [Slove: mirror image, rolled #2, an image. Image destroyed.]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Jorn whipped his chain around the corner, and the barbed end hit the zombie's head with a meaty thwack! The barbs dug into flesh and mouth and eye sockets, and when the dwarf yanked his chain, the head came with it. The zombie slumped to the floor at Gurgun's feet, while the chain bounced back into Jorn's hand, still with the head attached. [Jorn hits zombie, deals 7 damage after DR, destroys it]

The flameskull bobbed in the air, slightly annoyed, but hardly concerned. It could always be raised again later. But now, now, he had a perfect opportunity. The skull opened his jaws wide, vomiting forth an orb of green fire. The burning ball hurtled down the corridor, smashing into the adventurers, all packed tight in the narrow corridors, and exploded in green flames. [Flameskull casts fireball. 10 fire damage to everybody, Reflex DC 15 for half]

Satisfied with its handiwork, the skull turned and flew away, to check on the other battle-front. [Flameskull flies away]

The first skeleton jumped into the doorway to dodge the oncoming wall of green fire. As the flames evaporated, the two fired arrows, but they were little more than covering fire.

Gurgun easily avoids being scorched by the fire and immediately rushes forward striking at the skeleton in the corridor. Slightly unbalanced still he fails to aim his blow properly.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Garel is struck head-on with the full violence of the blast. Fire is something one can't parry with a stick, he thinks.

Passing between Gurgun and Slove, he takes refuge in the small triangle-shaped room, his feet clumsily dodging the bones of the skeleton finally resting in peace. The priest seems shaken. With an inspiration, he recites a prayer. He regains some composure as some of his burned flesh is healed. He then takes a look at the room he is in, especially at what looks like a stand holding a book.

Jorn looped his chain over Gurgun's head, but between being forced to miss Gurgun and the skeleton's agility, the spiked head hit the glass wall instead. [Miss]

The skeletons' trap had been set, and Gurgun found himself caught between their raking claws. Bony fingers scratched and snatched at his bare skin, and he couldn't fend them all off. Light slashes were opened across his body. [S3 claws, attack 13 miss, attack 21, rolled a 20, hit, critical 10, damage 4. S4 S4 claws, attack 6, miss, attack 19, hit, damage 2. Bleeding from numerous cuts and bruisers, Gurgun still moves with deadly accuracy, hitting one skeleton squarely in the chest and barely missing the second; the doorway forcing the Hobgoblin to attack from an awkward angle. Jorn! We switch now! He calls out, coordinating a step back with the fighting dwarf wizard.
