Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

OOC: Garel, your staff lands in A6. Jorn, I think your glitterdust wore off in Round 6 (3 rounds duration, right?), so the Flameskull is un-blinded now.

Now it appeared that everyone was blinded, not just the skull. But even that changed, as the glittering dust that filled its eye-sockets faded and vanished. Triumphant and vindictive, it rotated down and gave Jorn both blasts from its eye rays. "Die!" [Flameskull: fire rays, touch attacks 16 and 25, fire damage 6 and 4, total damage 10 @ Jorn]

Round 7:

G: Gurgun
G: Garel
S: Slove
J: Jorn

F: Flameskull: critically damaged, effects - fast healing, blur (20% miss), +20ft

Effects:

Ceiling is 20 feet high

Blue is water, 40 feet below

Exhausted: An exhausted character moves at half speed and takes a –6 penalty to
Strength and Dexterity.

Initiative:
14 - Flameskull
11 - Slove
 7 - Gurgun
 6 - Garel
21 - Jorn

Jorn howls in pain as the flames sear his flesh, swinging his chain wildly in retaliation. In his pain and haste, hurt and weakened by the skull's magic, the dwarf failed to hit;

"Garel..." he managed to call, rubbing his wounds.

Methodically murderous and with nothing to lose, the flameskull turned to face Jorn and gave the enlarged dwarf both blasts with its eye rays. Each struck dead in the chest, and green fire erupted around, burning beard and flesh alike. Jorn staggered, nearly floored by the blast. [Flameskull: fire rays, touch attacks 22 and 17, damage 6 and 4, total 10, Jorn is Staggered at 0 hp]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Slove nocked two arrows to his bow and let them fly. The shafts sped side-by-side, directly towards the skull. It turned, had enough time to whisper "Curses!" before both arrow-heads embedded themselves in each eye-socket. The skull exploded, in a burst of green flame and shattered bone fragments. [Slove: miss chances 56, 53, both hit. Total damage after DR: 7. Flameskull is destroyed!]

As pieces rained down from the sky with a clutter, they could hear triumphant cries from the other room.  Without their leader, the army was beginning to have some success now against the undead hordes.

Garel help Jorn before he falls! Slove and Gurgun will kill all dead-that-walk coming here.
Gurgun makes sure the double doors leading to the bridge are closed securely before rushing over to the opening leading to the great hall, ready to strike at any undead venturing close, and to see how his (former) companions are doing.

Garel goes to the side of the dwarf, taking a look at his numerous wounds. "You win, Jorn. You scored the best hits.", he says in a sarcastic tone.

Then, he continues: "I was so upset by not being able to throw something at this thing that I didn't notice your state. Your dwarf sturdiness was not here to help me." He reaches for Jorn's forehead with one hand, and recites his last prayer to heal his companion.

And nothing happens.

Garel whispers to Jorn: "Just try to imagine you just got healed some. It helps sometimes. I can't heal anymore today, sorry."

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

As the flames seared through the armor Jorn's composure finally cracked. The dwarf actually went down on one knee, his breathing ragged. When the skull exploded the wizard managed a faint cheer, before slowly moving to lean against the nearest wall, his spell ending as his shrunk back to normal size;

"I...can try," he gasped at Garel, trying to focus despite the pain and exhaustion from the spells disorientating his mind. As the healing healing from Slove spreads through his body the dwarf gives a sigh of relief;

"Ah...yer have my utmost thanks Slove. Nary a dwarf have a better friend before. Good thing we had you're bow eh?"

He shakes his head at the potion though, preferring to stand under his own strength now that most of his burns were healed (or at least, covered up)

"I'm fine enough, Gurgun. M'thanks for the offer. Keep the potion, yer own wounds need healing as well. Besides, I have my own," he added, indicating a small blue vial in his belt.

He stares out of the window, a large grin spreading over his face at the sounds of victory;

"But we won, didn't we? Haha! We won!"

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

In the other room, the orcs, hobgoblins and other adventurers were handily dispatching the last of the undead army. It had been a hard battle, with many dead or maimed, but ultimately a victory. That still left the lich himself and the rest of his forces, and who knew what and how many those would be?

Re: The Twilight Tomb: The Citadel Of Glass

Flit and Slove noticed it first. The shattered fragments of the skull, no longer flaming, had been scattered across the room after it had exploded. They'd thought it destroyed for good. And yet, slowly but surely, the pieces were sliding across the floor, each approaching the nearest that fitted to it. They locked together, fused, and became one, while microscopic wisps of bone dust filled in the cracks.

The skull was reassembling itself.

Slove smashed the small pieces as best he could, but it had a habit of skittering about the floor. And even after he shattered it, again, it slowly began to reform.

"It dead now! Leave it!" one of the orcs protested, as he wandered into the room and happened on the scene.
