Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

OOC: Yes, Disarm is allowed.

As Jorn began his spell, the undead ape swung a fist at him, but the dwarf had the advantage of height - or rather, the lack of it - and dodged the blow, his spell going ahead. Balrok was protected. [Girallon AoO attack 16]

Change targets! Mourel screeched, seeing the dwarf hard to assault mentally, and the elf hard to hit.

Slove swung his sword again, but this time the girallon lumbered out of the way, unharmed. [Slove NPCed. Attack 15, miss]

This time it slammed a paw down on Balrok, but he shrugged it off; it was only his head. [Girallon: attack 18, damage 9 @ Balrok]

And Slove received the mind-wracking pain, but he shook it off with stubborn pride. [Slove NPCed. Will 20, success]

Meanwhile, Garel jumped at Gurgun, swinging each end of his staff in rapid succession. But the style of fighting was unfamiliar, and he missed each strike. [Garel: attacks 13, 6, miss]

Balrok sees the monkey's swing coming and intentionally blocks it with his head, bashing the ape's arm out of the way with his thick skull to open a gap for his flaming battleaxe, which he buries in the creature's side.

"Comeon monkey-lips," he growls at the creature.  "Can'tya do bedder den dat?  At least aim for one of me vital organs," he says, making a rude gesture involving his nether-regions to demonstrate the only real potential target.

Attack:  28.
Damage:  14.

Mid-Round Update:

Balrok planted the burning axe-head into the girallon, but with so much dead flesh to hack through, it looked set to be a long, hard and messy task to bring it down. [Balrok: 9 damage after DR.]

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Garel wrenched himself away from the wand's touch, and forced the magic from his mind before he even knew what it was. [Will save 20, success. Protection from evil avoided]

Concentrating on his target, he raised his staff and whipped it around, cracking it across Gurgun's jaw, sliding off enough to avoid dislocating it. [Garel: attack 27 (rolled a 20), critical confirm 8 (rolled a 1). Damage 5 @ Gurgun]

With Balrok focusing on the girallon, Slove swung his sword at the jar, slipping through the girallon's arms and striking the glass. A great crack ran down the side, and thick liquid began to seep through. [Slove NPCed. Attack 21, hit, damage 11, +2 for FE. Mourel seriously damaged]

You dare! The brain glared angrily at Slove, somehow, but the elf shrugged off the psychic assault again. [Slove Will 22.]

Meanwhile, the girallon zombie followed Balrok's advice, and kicked a rotten gorilla-foot into his nether regions. [Girallon: attack 29, damage 9 @ Balrok]

"Shoulda...seen... dat... comin'..." Balrok gasps in a slightly off-pitch voice.  It is a testament to the dwarf's stamina (and chain armor) that he doesn't doubling up on the floor.  Instead he swings in the general direction of monkey and brain jar.  Unfortunately, his concentration is currently divided between the axe in his hands and the one a bit lower down, and his swing goes wide.

Missed.

I guess this concludes my actions this round since I had to use both attacks to get a hold on Garel.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

OOC: Oh, hey Slove. I'd begun rolling for you earlier, but I'll use those.

Slowly suffocating the air from Garel's lungs might not have given him clarity, but it did cause the cleric to weaken in Gurgun's arms. Not enough however, for the blank-eyed priest twisted sharply, seeking an exit to wrench himself out of the grapple. [Garel: escape grapple, GC 16]

The girallon persisted on Balrok, and swung a palm across to cuff him in the head. [Girallon: attack 26, damage 11]

Slove swung his sword at the brain-jar, but the blade slid right off the slick glass surface. [Slove: attack misses.]

The battle really wasn't going well enough for Mourel's liking. It was time to bring in some help... Suddenly, the seemingly-inanimate jar was tugged loose from the girallon's paws by an unseen force, and the whole contraption hovered into the air, away from the threatening weapons. [Mourel flies up 20ft, provokes AoOs]

Arise, my servants! the brain cried, and the bones stuffed into the niches began to slide and move, to assemble themselves into whole skeletons and climb out into the corridor, claws reaching for living flesh. [Skeletons rise! Provoke AoOs]

The brain spun around and around within its jar. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Round 6:

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Garel escapes from the grapple (rolled a 4). Which means Gurgun gets to do a lot of AoO's.

With Garel managing to slip out of his hold Gurgun found himself free to strike at will at the skeletons shambling out in the corridor. And strike them he did, whacking the first two with his staff, he follows up with a circle kick to the third and attempting to hit the second one again as a finishing move. That was only the beginning though.
The fast moving monk decided to employ a different tactic this time towards Garel, making him trip and fall to the ground. Not wasting a second Gurgun again struck him hard, but precisely, intending to take the combat, not life, out of Garel. Once more Gurgun is able to flip up from his prone target and strike at whatever skeleton is still standing.

OOC: Plenty of rolls... AoO's first order 3, 2, 4

OOC: You can't Circle Kick in an AoO, only in a full attack action And you rolled a critical hit there, but these are Undead. I rerolled the damage: 8.

Mid-Round Update:

With staff and feet flying, Gurgun shattered the skull of one skeleton and put his foot through the rib-cage of another. The third narrowly dodged a spinning hook kick however. [Gurgun: AoO 1 and 3 hit, AoO 2 misses. S3 and S4 destroyed.]

He then easily wrapped his leg around Garel and unbalanced him, knocking to the ground hard. But the skeleton he'd tried to strike before dodged his follow-up kick again. [Garel Str 11, fail. Tripped. Takes nl dmg. Attack vs S2 misses]

As the brain-jar floated away, Balrok laid the heavy axe-head into it, cracking open the hard glass and spilling the preservative fluids inside, grazing even the grey matter inside. It wobbled precariously before righting and resuming its course. Gargle! [Balrok hits, deals full damage]
