Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Gurgun looks at the statues and the corridors beyond. Gurgun thinks there is a choice to be made. Question is: who's choice?

The hobgoblin seems to have made up his mind. Gurgun will follow the path of Gamogan. Teraff's path is what ultimately spelled doom for this realm.

Balrok snorts.  "Sounds tu me like it was Gam-man who got du elves in trouble.  The lass with du bow never gave up any secrets.  If these here's a choice between peaceful stupidity or stubborn violence, den dat's an easy one, heh.  Let's check the bow-lady's corridor first.

'Course, we'll prolly be able to come back an' check du other later anyways, right?"

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Balrok could be right. At least if Mourel would make choice for us. Gurgun has no fear for going either way, Balrok can lead.

Gurgun nods in agreement, seeing the wisdom in the dwarven logic.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Duladora nodded. "Yes, Gamagon was called a traitor and banished from the elven lands. He was never seen again. But Teraff was named a heroine. The star elves considered their stories to be cautionary tales, to look to their security before trusting in the good-will of strangers... But then, they're the ones holed up in their glass towers with no one else to talk to." she ended sadly for her distant kin.

Going right, the way of Teraff, they went around a corridor that turned and turned, following the wall of the hexagonal tower. At the end was a door, with a small, shallow recess in its surface.

Balrok will check the suspicious elven door carefully for traps.  If he finds none, he'll try to kick it open, ready for combat!  (Of course, if someone suggests a more subtle approach, he would oblige....)

Balrok didn't find any traps, but Gurgun halted him before he tried kicking the door open.

The recess was a circle about the size of an elven fist. Anything could be tapped in there, including either end of the control keys.

There was a flash and suddenly a crackling boom as a bolt of lighting burst from the recess, down the rod and leaping from person to person down the corridor.

Balrok does not have time to react when he notices the lightning; it arcs through him, dancing across his metal armor and weapons and setting his beard and hair on end.  "Dam-mm-mmm-nnn el-vv-ee-ss!" he curses through jittering teeth.

Duladora peeked frightened around the corner, catching the aftermath of the trap. How could they have had it wrong? How could she have been wrong? Teraff had been the right choice by star elf standards - but both had led to doom.

"Wait! Which end did you use? Try the other end..." she suggested, hopeful.

OOC: Dula is a low-level Rogue, so you can ask her to trap-check, since Balrok's not too good at it. ;)

Jorn took the full brunt of the lightning bolt and grunted. Still in pain, the dwarf staggered back, shaking his head;

"Yes. Ouch. Please let the lady elf check for other such dangers before trying that Gurgun. Not all of us can jump as well as you in full body armor."

That is why Jorn and Balrok and Slove go back to room with statues. Gurgun try open door alone this time; maybe will go better.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Everyone evacuated to stand safely back in the statue room, while Gurgun readied himself to attempt the door again. Like a coiled spring, he was tensed and ready to spring out of the way of another lightning trap. He reversed the rod and touched the loop end to the depression.

Nothing happened.

The door slid open.

The corridor continued around behind, bent then turned a corner, where Gurgun glimpsed stairs going upwards.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

The stairs lead up to the next floor, then rose through it, with transparent glass blocks suspended hovering in the air. They ascended ten feet to an octagonal platform resting upon a thick pillar, on top of which was erected a ring of translucent glass menhirs, resembling the stone circles that they'd entered and exited through. It was of a much smaller scale however, with each menhir standing only about five feet high. Two lintels that completed the arches were also missing.

The floor around the pillar was crowded with thirty or so glass blocks similar to those used in the stone circle model.

And looking up, the ceiling was a great transparent glass dome, and offered a spectacular view of the entire Tir'in'tiral citadel, of every tower and the small island with the stone circle that formed the entry portal.

OOC: Please roll the usual checks.

Gurgun looked around, wondering about the significance of the missing stones; would this mean the portal was broken?

Jorn frowned at the structures, and decided to scan them again, trying to see if there was a "hole" in the auras, or lingering traces of magic where the missing stones were supposed to be;
