Clang! The heavy blade bounced off the heavy plate armour, not slowing the zombie in the slightest.

Gurgun makes a quick kick-punch combination, only to find himself having trouble finding the soft spots in the cramped quarters.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

With a final punch to the zombie's neck, Gurgun broke the spine, and it died a second death. The orc hit the stairs with a metal crash, and tumbled down with several more before it came to a stop on the next landing.

The full plate armour was an oddity on an orc. From appearances, they guessed that this had once been Guerik, the old leader of the mercenary force, whom Savera had spurned in favour of Thraka. Guerik had reportedly gone mad and fled the camp. Now they knew what had happened to him.

The stairs lead down in a decreasing triangular spiral. At the base, two doors lead off to the two remaining towers: right to portal control, left to the lich's tomb.

Ready? Gurgun asks. He gets ready to open the door leading to the tomb.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

Beyond was another bridge, twenty feet above the churning sea. At the other end was another tower. This one was circular around, and rose up into a great dome, apparently perfectly spherical. A smaller dome was perched on top. Before them was a pair of double doors.

Loading a stone in his sling, Gurgun decides to rush ahead; covering the distance to the tower in as short time as possible.

Cover me. He says to his companions before setting off.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

OOC: Yes, it does still apply. I only ignored the attack penalty, since none of the monsters had it incorporated. Sadly, this result only means you can't move for a round. :(

Gurgun skidded a bit on the pebbled glass surface, but managed to stay upright. Which was just well, for the crashing sea was twenty feet below.

A little more careful now, he reached the double doors that admitted entrance to the lich's tomb.

Armed with his sling, Gurgun once more scans his surrounding.
He feels somewhat unfocused though, and waves his companions forward hoping to react fast enough should some hidden danger suddenly present itself.

Re: The Twilight Tomb: Mourel's Mausoleum

The coast was clear, and Gurgun waved his companions across the bridge to join him at the set of double doors.

Duladora stole forwards and examined the doors while covered by the adventurers, and finally pronounced them to be safe. She ducked back and let the others slide the heavy glass panels open.

The room within was lost in darkness to those without night-sight. To those that did, there was a fair-sized anteroom, with glass benches against the two straight internal walls, while the third external wall curved around. A single door went off to the left, but another pair of double doors lay ahead.

It seemed quite empty.

Gurgun said nothing, but motioned to the left door. Moving forward cautiously he stopped in front of it; senses wide open to try and sense any movement on the opposite side.

And then music began to play.

It was a solemn and soulful tune, full of downbeat notes and haunting refrains, like a funeral dirge. It seemed to be coming behind the double doors in the anteroom.

Jorn's eyebrows twitched nervously at the sound. The dwarf did not like the atmosphere at all. Not one bit.

He drew his chain and moved forward, keeping a few steps behind Gurgun.

"Eh...y'think we should look behind that door...?"

Gurgun nods. Yes. Music make skin crawl, Gurgun wants to stop it. Closing the door to the stairs, the Child of the Passive Way swiftly moves to position himself by the double-door instead.

Nodding at the others to get ready he then slides the door open!
