Game Summary - 04/02/2004

Dwayne and the other members of the party were training and setting up the big ceremony which would introduce Maat to Glorantha, picking a date that would from that time on, be the high holy day ceremony for the cult of Maat. Dwayne chose the last day of the year, the last day of Storm season. Dwayne, the Maat and Humakti group members were part of the ceremony as was the banner of Gil-Galad. Keith's Argan Argar/Hoomoboboom troll was assigned the difficult task of guarding the entrance to the Humakti compound, where the ceremony took place. It can truthfully be said that NO ONE managed to pass her and enter the temple. That was because no one used the door, they all walked right through the wall or teleported in.

Maat was accepted by the gods of Glorantha, basically because she promised to fight chaos, give justice to all without favoritism, and because she has no elemental connections. The chaos gods and the Lunar pantheon objected, but were over ruled. The ceremony sucked power out of just about everybody.

The beginning of the next year found the party moving south and southeast, around the Tarmo Mountains and then south to Land of Screamer in the Darkness, where this whole bananarama started. The trip was relatively uneventful. Nobody died.

At the community founded around the cult of Screamer, the party had a meeting with the town mothers, so to speak, and explained where they had been for 2 years, and why so many characters didn't come back. Some trading arrangements were made, and training was purchased.

While in Screamerville, the party was contacted by Quaranar, the Noldo smith in Middle Earth, who wanted help. He has finally found some clues to where his son's spirit is imprisoned and he needs help in freeing him. The party agreed and went through a world gate to Middle earth, just north of Mirkwood, in the year 3950 of the Third Age, where is Sauron is rumored to be gathering power to him again, and the Eight are abroad.

The first step in the quest was to find the tomb of a warrior mage called the Frost Lord, who had been one of a band of heroes who had roamed the Rhovanion nearly 2500 years before. They had slain a number of the great drakes of the north, and even ventured into Mordor, around the time of the Mugging of Pallando and the 2nd expulsion of Sauron. Quaranar only knew of the one tomb, so the party hunted for it in order to gain clues as to where Sauron's prison might be.

They found the tomb, investigated it, found clues, slaughtered some orcs, and then went to Lorien to visit with Celeborn and Galadriel. Celeborn gave them another clue and off the party went to Osgiliath, imperial capital of Gondor. They made it to Osgiliath, and began searching for the resting place of the Knight of Shadows, another of the heroes. They finally found where it was, and managed to get into a tunnel that led from the riverfront to the suspected tomb. They found the tomb entrance, but found other things as well, including 9 cat wraiths and some followers of a Sauronic cult who were practicing human sacrifice. They got the tomb open and entered it, closing the door just behind them as the wraiths and cultists unloaded a spell barrage into the room outside. The ghost of the man they were looking for was waiting for them, with more information.
