Starboard Dushka

Mariusz went back to his main gun but kept his rifle ready. This position would be useless to contribute to the fight but needed to be manned to keep up the charade. Hopefully someone would suggest a good station for him to join when the fight began, otherwise he intended to climb onto the roof and start sniping from there.

At her station by the mortar, Quyen waits for the whistle blast from the tug. After it goes off she tries to look disinterested, and lays her rifle down on the deck. In her head she counts. Nearing thirty seconds later she doesn't hear any shooting from elsewhere... I guess they are taking them down quietly she thinks.

At thirty seconds she subtlety draws her pistol and walks up behind the IPAT soldier. "Walk to the mortar and knee down beside it. Lay your weapon down. Fuck with me and I kill you. Talk to Dawid and I kill you. Understand?"

She then intends to remain behind him. When he is kneeling next to the mortar she will tell Dawid to retrieve her handcuffs from her webbing and apply them to the IPAT man.

If the man doesn't comply, she will try to knock him down and hit him in the the throat. If he tries to use his weapon or she is unable to physically subdue him she will shoot the IPAT until he goes down.

Griet's PMKMG Mount Port

As Griet saw the IPAT troopers before her, she continued to fidle with the release for the machinegun, all the time wishing she'd had the oportunity to put her helmet on without looking as if she was preparing for battle. Her mouth was dry. they had lowered the odds somewhat but this battle waas still likely to be bloody. She hoped they wouldn't regret the actions they were about to take.

She waited for the signal, once the ballon went up, she planned to burst fire at the RPG gunner. She'd hose him until he went down and then walk the bursts toward the soldiers to his left, keeping their heads down even if she didn't hit anyone.

She stopped fidgeting with the gun and wiped her palms on her trousers. She put her hands near the grip again and waited...

An Unhappy Reunion

With the parked IPAT road convoy clearly within view from the Krolowa's bridge, Old Adam sounds the tug's steam whistle. The Czech, already somewhat suspicious after watching Viktor's round trip to and from the weapons locker, asks Adam what he's doing. Old Adam replies casually, pointing to the eastern shore up ahead,

"It's a customary greeting. Your people?"

The Czech seems to relax until he notices what is going on on the lower deck near the Vasilek.

Artur had layed his AKM against the starboard rail in order to assist Dawid with the tarp. Minh slides along the tug's superstructure to circle behind Artur and, once in position, trains her M9 on the man, keeping it close against her body at waist level and, hopefully, out of view of the Artur's comrades on shore.

Artur looks at Dawid plaintively and inquires with an injured expression,

"What's going on here?"

When he realizes that Dawid is not going to intervene on his behalf, he spits bitterly,

"Judas!"

He does not, however, attempt to resist; instead he heads toward the Vasilek and kneels beside it. Minh kicks him to the deck face first and, kneeling between his shoulder blades, cuffs his hands behind his back.

On the bridge, the Czech leans forward to determine exactly what's going on on the deck below. As his man kneels, the Czech realizes he's been played. Reaching for his Makarov with his right hand, he lifts his radio to report the unmasked betrayal with his left.

On the quarterdeck, Milk counts down from thirty to one as he casually reaches down and grasps his silenced .45 pistol. At zero, he lifts the pistol and centers it on the aft-most IPAT man's chest. With his most compelling non-com's voice, he issues a stern command in his limited, battlefield Polish.

"Drop your weapon and jump in water. Now!"

At around the same time, Viktor, Tucker, and Griet open fire on the IPAT positions on shore*.

Meanwhile, several hundred meters from the west bank of the river and over 200m beyond the northernmost visible IPAT position, Switek and Chopper look on as the Krolowa nears the expectant welcoming party. Out of range, and in the open, Stan (NPCed) says,

"It looks like we are out of this fight. The only thing we can do now is pray..."

Actions?

OOC: Viktor and Tucker/Griet: please indicate your targets and I will roll results for the next turn. *The PKM on the left side can only engage targets ahead of the tug. Since Snowy's starboard Dushka is currently unmanned, one of you may want to switch to it once the Korlowa is even with the shore positions.

IPAT Artur is restrained; the Czech and poop IPAT are not (although Milk has the drop on Poop IPAT).

I'm not entitely sure where Jason and Bones are or what they're doing right now so I didn't mention them in the post. Since this may be my bad, I'm giving them the innitiative to act first this turn.

Starboard Dushka

Mariusz stood next to the Dushka after sureptitiously putting his helmet on. He was unclear exactly how to act but he had three potions once combat started. Mentally he prepared himself to man the Dushka if there turned out to be enemy on the opposite bank. If this wasn't the case and there was trouble subduing the escorts on the ship, he'd rush to aid that. If this wasn't a problem he would climb onto the roof of the bridge and prepare for some sniping.

Snowy yells urgently to the Czech "Look out!" When the man looks at Snowy, he gets a face full of pepper spray set on 'stream'. Snowy then kicks the man in the knee and attempts to disarm the man's pistol. He'll be cuffed with his arms behind his back and his ankles ziploked together, and a search made to remove weapons from his person.
Snowy yells to Konrad as he does so "Get them to lay smoke on the riverbank, it's our only chance!"

"Judas!"

There's a lot of that going around, he thought.

Seeing Minh had Artur under control, Dawid ignored him and using his considerable strength heaved at the trail of the mortar, bringing the weapon around on its swivel to bear on units on the shore.

Mounting the seat, he fired 82mm phosphor shells over open sights at the the BTR, the closer Humvee and the rocket-man with the RPG-16 in front and between them to complete the smoke screen.

If he hit the armoured vehicle he may not destroy it outright but being covered in burning phosphor (the "poor man's AT weapon") would blind the crew and probably motivate them to to bale out, and if not removed the particles might well eventually burn-through into the engine compartment or passenger/crew compartment.

If he missed either vehicle he would take another shot.

82mm Vasilek (5 WP loaded +  5 HEDP)
Firing 3-5 individual shots semi-auto at the 2 closer vehicles and the intervening RPG-16 rocket soldier.
No personal armour worn (trusting the gunshield to protect him).

[OOC: this should be around 2 turn's actions, depending on how long it takes to turn the mortar on the swivel-mount and mount up. Dawid can engage 3 different targets in single a turn, and he's firing semi-auto (5 shots per turn). Therefore he will fire between 1 and 2 shots per closer vehicle (if the first shot misses he fires a second) and 1 at the RPG gunner in between while traversing right to left (the forward movement of the tug itself assisting this realignment). At 200m or less range this should be a 8 or less to-hit roll using Quick shots from a moving vehicle (difficulty goes up from Difficult to Formidable). Depending on how many shots fired there may be 2 to 0 WP shells left in the Vasilek's magazine.]

Viktors COA..

1. He will fire the AA gun in six round bursts.. This will keep the gun under control and acuate.(that is 3 rounds per Barrel). remember his rounds are API that is armor pierceing Incendeary they will start fires in all hit areas.

2. His target list
 a. he will fire at the Humvee this is there command and control truck more that not it has a MRC-145 radio and all the SAT comms a must to take out. he will fire 2 bursts at it.
 b. he will then fire all remaining shells in bursts at the BTR-80. even if its on fire he will continue to shoot. this should take up my first turns.

On a side not Viktor was only getting his gear from the hole . just like the others to leave the ship. He has the brits helmet and armor on. also in posts past his gun is already aimed at the shore and ready to fire. so his on target time should be quick. a plus to you all on ship.

Re: Forward Gun

Cap'n Rae:
Meanwhile, on the west bank, Switek makes the call to displace forward. He and Chopper wrestle/ride the trike back across the slick ground to the northbound road to Sandomierz. Once back on the cracked and weed infested blacktop, they make good time, bits of mud and gravel flung from the tires ricochetting noisily from the mudguards. Switek looks across the river and sees periodic puffs of oily black smoke drift skyward from what appears to be a small convoy heading in the same direction. At one point, when the roads on both sides converge on the Vistula, Switek can see a few of the vehicles (it's still too far to get an accurate count or note all of the makes and models). Presumably, an eagle-eyed member of the convoy could likewise see the upgunned motorcycle/sidecar and its riders. The trike is moving faster than the convoy and Switek has to bang Chopper on the arm to slow down when he notices the convoy pull of the road a couple of hundred meters behind them. The trike team have overshot the rendezvouz. With fairly flat, open terrain between the road and the bank, it's unlikely that the trike team will be able to get to within firing range of the halted IPAT convoy without being seen by them.

Switek finally gets Chopper's attention and the driver brings the motorbike to a halt.  As the driver re-orients the bike to face the opposition, the monk examines the scene with his field glasses.

Fuck!

"What do you think, Mister Hicks?" inquires Switek.  "Can we hit them from here?  We are rather exposed.  Maybe rip off a quick burst before we hot-foot it to the rendezvous in Sandomierz."

He raises the handset of his secure radio and begins to advise the tug security team of their predicament.*

Re: Port PKMG

During the time they'd had to prepare, Anneka had removed the sling from her injured arm. Just enough time had passed, barely, to allow her to use it without immediately fainting with pain. A couple of minutes were spent familiarising herself with the L86 although she sincerely hoped she wouldn't need to use it. As usual, both vest and helmet were in place, medical kit wedged between a couple of crates on the deck, but not so firmly that it couldn't be tugged free quickly.[Private to GM: Will take painkillers if necessary and also issue Griet and Adam with them as required before combat.]

"Mariusz," she said as the tug drew closer to the revendous point.
"Wander over to the other side and look after Snowy's gun will you. I'll watch this arc for the moment."

She'd have prefered Clarence moved around with the boy watching rearward, but the CIA agent was soon to have his hands full if the silencer on his pistol was anything to go by.

Jason's presence rang an alarm bell but before she could question why he was so far from his position at the ZU, the tug whistle blew it's long, mournful tone, alerting them all to the impending action. Realising that the new, barely known Pole was now alone with one of their most potent weapon systems sent a shiver down her spine - who would, could, stop him if he turned it against them?

Torn for just a moment between directing the helicopter pilot forward, or returning to watch the port arc, the sudden realisation that Hicks and Stan had not been able to be properly briefed, sent her dashing for Clarences' radio. Snatching up the handset, she transmitted just as Clarence issued his command.

"Budda, this is Starlight. Standby for fire mission at positions located on east bank. Over."

There, that at least warned them of what was coming. She'd have to leave any further spotting for them up to the experts - Konrad or Clarence.

Bayer is unable to maintain the Czech's attention long enough for him not to notice Quyen's move. Fortunately Snowy steps up and executes his part of the plan to secure the tug from their uninvited overseers. Giving Snowy room to do his thing, he says quietly to Adam and his helmsman, "Stay low. This ist it."

Moving into a position of observation, Bayer glances down at the two heavy support weapons. Both were following the plan, and immediately fired their first salvo at the shore. Expecting the DSHKs to follow any second he raises his radio and attempts to add further firepower to their side, "Buddha, this is Sunray. Do you have eyes on target? If so fire now, I will adjust. Over"

Bayer assumed that even if they couldn't see the tug, the tell tale signature of the Krolowa's smoke should give them a visual reference point if he needs to coordinate indirect fire.

Waiting for the first impact of 40mm he quickly unstraps his helmet from his webbing and puts it on his head.
