Chapter 03: The Fighting Pit

Its been a month since the crazy ex incident and the crew has been steadily getting more jobs and better jobs after getting some decent rep. It seems low-pay was the way to go in order to get the not-so-listed higher-paying-yet-more-sane jobs.

Today, the job has brought the crew to Nurakot City, in Hojin on Barrak. A man there had hired the crew to bring him a certain type of flower from Tharia. Now that the crew is on Barrak, the client decided that since the crew was already here, to have them follow him to a destination in Nurakot with the flowers (and a few other things he has) so he can feel secure about the cargo being delivered without someone trying to pull a fast one on him en route.

So at the moment, the crew is away from their ship and riding in an armored vehicle. Un-armored vehicles are rare on Barrak, so it isn't anything to be alarmed about.

Re: Chapter 03: The Fighting Pit

Kevin's in high spirits now that Juros is safe.  On the trip to Tharia he joked around about pirate bees or butterflies stealing nectarrr from flowers.  On Barak he smiles and bounces in his seat.

"Dude.  Always love Barakian road trips.  Hahah.  Always like, expect to exit the van into enemy fire!  Hah.  'Like, take cover, dude!  The honeybee pirates are upon us!'  'Nectarrrr!'  Hahahah!"

Hakkof is glad to be riding in a vehicle where he's not worried he will cause a hull breach by bumping his head on the ceiling.  "They would have to be very small pirates to be satisfied with this little nectar."

OOC: Useless Fact, BEES has ended up the Something Awful theme of choice in a few places such as EVE.  The joke/hoped for setup for Elite is Orange paint jobs, for the "Goon Tang Clan/Space Navigator's guild."

Re: Chapter 03: The Fighting Pit

This particular city isn't a tourist resort, so it is rare to see any non-Barrakians.

Nivi is just happily kicking her legs while looking at her data pad. "Nurakot City started out as a mining town, but had a lot of trouble with fringe bandits raiding it. The people of Nurakot soon learned all kinds of fighting tactics and the bandits who didn't die in the assault became the slaves of Nurakot's people." being blissian, Nivi half-choked on the word "die". "Since then, the city has thrived and they occasionally have reenactments of the day they took their freedom into their own hands."

Juros has a HUD visor and says, "In other words, just a normal barrakian city. I'm looking up a list of barrakian cities that have a history that involves slavery or banditry, it quite a list pops up. I also did a quick search for if there was such a thing as a barrakian establishment that didn't involve battle or strife... no such thing." he grins at Hakkof. "Your people sure are used to adversity, but keep rising to the challenge."

"Small but deadly," Kevin counters Hakkof before realizing what he just said sounds like a fart joke, "Hahahahah."

He reaches over to give Nivi a comforting shoulder-pat but knows anything he would have to say on the topic wouldn't cheer her up any.

"Woah, dude!  Hah.  like, radical gadget!  Hahahah.  Dude.  I want one!"

"Rising from your fall is generally required if you want to punch somebody in the face...  Well, on Barak at least."  More surprised looks when a Barakian escapes an ankle lock from short people though.

Juros smirks at Kevin and says, "I'll see what I can do for ya, Kevin."

The crew arrives at a garage where the stuff is unloaded. The client transfers creds to their accounts. Then has them get back in the vehicle to be escorted out.

However, when the vehicle is opened, there are armed guards pointing weapons at the group.

Re: Chapter 03: The Fighting Pit

"Like, thanks!" Kevin answered Juros.

He chuckled at Hakof's logic.  And sang a travel song on the return trip.  But when the armed guards point their guns, he holds his hands up in surrender.

"Like, woah!  Dudes.  We're totally like, not the bad dudes you must be looking for...  Like, you are law enforcement, right?  Like, delivering flowers isn't illegal, is it?"

Re: Chapter 03: The Fighting Pit

Hakkof is not expecting some form of double cross just yet, if only because it would be impractical to pay people you plan hold up at gunpoint two minutes later.

He remains sitting between his bunny employer and the guns, sorry dog and goat co-workers.  Hakkof is tempted to just slam the door on principle, armored car and all.  But the did just open the doors anyways.
