Treason and Insubordination

This details the rules regarding treason and insubordination:

UNIVERSAL HOSTILITY FORMULA (TREASON)
Here are the steps of accusing someone of treason:

1- ACCUSE: Roll against your management skill (no specialization).  Perversity points are allowed.

2- CREDIBLE OR NOT?  If the roll succeeds, the Computer of high-clearance citizen regards the charges as initially credible, and the target may suffer "correction."
Backfire:  If the roll missed by 10 or more, or if you roll 20, it backfires.  The Computer questions the accuser's judgment and motives, analyzes your record of loyalty, demeanor and hygiene, and assesses penalties as appropriate.  (Continue to step 3, but the accuser is the target now.)

3- MULTIPLE TARGETS?  Can the offenses plausibly indict more than one target?  If so, I will select multiple targets based on the type of offense and the attack roll's margin.  This goes under Area effect and Spray descriptions

4- DEFAULT CORRECTION:  A successful accusation prompts the correction based on severity level and formula applied by the Computer.  Severity may be based on the accusation roll margin.  Termination is the most serious correction.

5- DEFENSE:  The default correction is reduced by a number of steps equal to the target's Access attribute--your "treason armor."

6- BOOST:  If the accusation succeeded by greater than the offense's Boost increment, divide the margin by the Boost.  The result will be increased or decreased accordingly.

7- ACTUAL CORRECTION:  The end result will be the actual correction the target receives.  All corrections are carried out on the spot.  If reduced below 1 step, the accusation has no effect--except maybe to annoy the target.

A corrected target who lacks self-control may become extremely unhappy, earning the Computer's disapproval and possibly even further correction.

Confused?  Try it and see what happens.  :)

Asking whether a particular hypothetical question,
if it were hypothetically directly related to a
mission or duty, would be considered insubordinate

Being out of uniform or sloppy 10 cr

Questioning the ability or judgment of The Computer 1000 cr

Turning off one's PDS (communicator) during a mission 50 cr

Unauthorized vandalism or destruction of property
of equal or lower clearance, not in line of duty 50 cr

TREASON CHART PUNISHMENTS:

Here are the punishments you may receive for treason (or falsely accusing of treason), in order of severity:

Okay:  (for example, you have to have a high miss margin to receive an added step of correction)
Official Reprimand
Probation
Censure (and Public Hatings, which are a televised version of Censure)
Fines
Demotion
Medication (biochemical supplements, often with additional correction too, and you usually have a negative effect you will have to roleplay)
Brainscrub (erase your memory, including communications with secret society and the nature of your mutant power...in the best case scenario.  Delusional or hallucinatory behavior has been known to come out of this.)
Retirement (you will have to go to a clone backup while your current clone goes to Permanent Recreation in a retirement gulag)
Termination and repatterning ("Twiddling") (Recycles the traitor and transfers the memory to a clone body...with a few alterations.)
Erasure (Your template is erased; no more clones.  Roll a new character.)

Re: Treason and Insubordination

To credibly accuse a target individual of treason, you need corroborating testimony or, even better, have (or be able to fabricate, after the termination) clear, documented evidence.  This includes still photos, video clips and audio recordings.

There is no statute of limitations on treason.  You can wait as long as you want before accusing.

However, if you are making the accusation after you already killed the target, you will be given an amount of time to fabricate assemble the required evidence.

If the target has already been accused and penalized int he past for a given act, that act won't weigh heavily in your accusation.

Only The Computer, mission officials and citizens of Clearnace GREEN or higher can assign treason and insubordination penalties.

HOWEVER...your Loyalty Officer assigns fines for insubordination; the team leader fines the loyalty officer.  Other team officers can assign insubordination fines related to their duty (hygiene officer for failing hygiene inspections, equipment guy if you carve your name in your cone rifle barrel, happiness officer for frowning, etc.)  Fines are paid to the Computer.

Re: Treason and Insubordination

MERITORIOUS CONDUCT

Want a reward of some sort?  Do one or more of the following:

1- Be extremely happy

2- Complete a mission

3- Complete a mission successfully

4- Complete a service and file a report

5- Do a favor spontaneously for a higher-clearance citizen

6- Do a favor for a secret society friendly to your own

7- Risk your life to serve or rescue a higher clearance citizen, to save Alpha Complex, or to serve The Computer

8- Terminate a traitor with sufficient evidence

9- Turn a traitor over to Internal Security

10- Unctuous flattery

(These will earn you the closest thing to "experience points" you can get in this game.)
