OOC Clone Talk 2 (Campaign #2)

I decided to create a new OOC thread for the new campaign so it doesn't get confused with the old one.  Feel free to post OOC comments here, including things like whether you will be absent for an extended time period.

Heidey-ho, citizens.  I was just sitting here, staring at the wall, enjoying a bag of Crunchee Tm Algae Chips (Triple Cheese flavor) and washing it down with a Bouncy Bubble Beverage; Extra Classic !! When a thought came to my mind ... a non-traitorous purely non-treasonous happy thought for sure. While allowing the Be-Happy Pills to take effect I should introduce myself.

I am Cop-R-ISS-1, but my friends call me Copper. I work for ICU ... it's a service firm in Facility Surveillance Control ... Oh sorry, you've never heard of that ? It's part of the CPU ? Of course everyone confuses us with ICO ... The Internal Control Office ? But they don't have the significance of our unit. And anyways good ole' FSC is part of all of our daily lives now isn't it ?!

Ooooo ... Don't move ... Hold perfectly still ... Snap ... WOW ! Has anyone ever told you that you super-prehensile tail occasionally catches the glint of the fluorescent lights in such a way as to enhance your nictitating membrane ? It is stunning !

Hmm.  Exactly what color are those chips citizen? I hope the descriptors of your little snack are merely misleading because neither "Algae" OR "Cheese" come in Red to my knowledge.

Hmmmm ... Cop-R gets out his Multicorder 2 plays with it for a moment and then replays the whole discussion ... I don't recall saying anything about Algae OR Cheese ... Then aiming the multicorder at Johnny-R ... Ooooo smile, hold that expression. This is gonna look great in my next report. YOU my friend are gonna be a hero !

Just an empty white square room.

It is a place where you can talk IC until the real adventure starts, since there will be a slow trickling of players coming in during the next few days.  It is not part of any adventure itself.

Funny ... the dash b was not meant as a security clearance but just a play on an existing product. BUT I changed it so some "enterprising" young "red shirt" doesn't come along and vaporize me ... see what I did there ... a little trekkie humor mixed in.

We are having one player change coming.  I don't want to get too far into this before that is complete.  I posted an ad today seeking 1-2 additional players.  I want to make sure we are fully ready to go so new players won't have to play "catch up," so if you know of someone who wants to jump in, have them send me a PM.

We will be adding two more, so I think that brings our total to 8 troubleshooters.  And I can't go higher than that right now, so no one new until your clones start dying off. :)

Yes, this also means you will have 2 people who have their mandatory duties doubled (two team leaders and two happiness officers, if I recall correctly), so have fun that little competitive bonus.

Please take a close read through of your characters and try to play the tics you have.  If you want a different tic, we can do that.  These are tics taken from the books.

Also, recall that Cop-R is a registered mutant.  A registered mutant is a legal mutant but is considered a lower class of society, borderline traitor.  Keep that in mind in your interactions.

Here is from the rules:

Registered Mutant: Mutant who has chosen to register his treasonous genetic defect.

Registered mutants are the only mutants in Alpha Complex who are allowed to use their mutant powers freely and without reprimand (or termination). They are identified by the yellow stripe that runs down their uniform (YELLOW clearance registered mutants have a stripe bordered in black).

Although tolerated by The Computer, registered mutants are not the most popular citizens in Alpha Complex and often find themselves being blamed when things go wrong. They face widespread discrimination and are frequently targeted by such secret societies as the Anti-Mutants.

The adventure itself is going to be an actual mission that requires actual cooperation and problem solving.  So you can still be your natural comedic selves, but there will be a sense of "straight" to the mission because the goal is to get everyone attenuated to all the rules.

We also will not be doing the accusations of treason until after the first mission, so your characters can let their guards down a little while inside the biodome.

I realized that some of you did not have proper bios or tags to your characters, one even listed as npc, so I went back and corrected that.  What happened was some characters were transferred over from the other game, and I erringly forgot to update all fields.  It should be corrected now.

Things were on a hiatus for a bit.  So we might have lost a couple people, or maybe they are just getting back up to speed.  Hopefully, it will all pick up and go within the speed limits allowed by The Computer soon.

OOC: Vilfred already got the correct numbers, Fletch.  Now, you just have to hit "yes" or "no" on the screen to confirm if you have yellow clearance or above.

And it's good for all of us that Vilfred is nifty with numbers :). But actually Fletch occupied himself all the time with the suitcase, not the computer. He was trying to open the suitcase lock.

Anyway, he'll look up from his chosen task any moment now.

Hah, I would not have cracked this one. I thought purely along mathematic lines. Good that Vilfred came up with the solution before I could invest time into this. ;)

Nonetheless, that's the heat of battle, and I stick with shooting. GM? Results?
After that first shot Fletch is perfectly happy to say 'Oops' and stop firing though.

Hehe that reminds me of the time I got HOOC in another game and with it a promotion. The next game session the GM forgot how high I had been promoted and I out ranked the guy giving the mission briefing. So on behalf of my team I ordered him to go do the mission.

Actually, I don't think the color of the suits and lasers makes a difference in this game, unless I missed that part of the rules.

The following is completely out of character as I in character have no understanding of the rules in any way and am not a traitor.

Red reflec offers resistance of E1. But only against red lasers.

Yellow offers E1 resistance vs red orange and yellow lasers.

Uh, I was delaying posting, to see how the GM would handle my laser shot? Because a) I really have no clue about the finer details of the rules, and b), I thought the GM would handle most rolls in a Paranoia game anyway.
But while I waited on the GM the other posts rolled on, and resolving a shot now that actually happened 10 posts ago might be awkward...

GM? How do you want to handle this?

Okay, at first Fletch fired, but a later post makes it look like he faked it.  I started to go with actual firing, in which case he actually got a critical hit and maimed Rob so that he could not use his right hand (for shooting, shaking hands, pushing buttons, etc.), but then the next post I saw apparently has Fletch not really firing, so I adjusted accordingly.  Technically, no "effects" happen until I post.  It's a little harder when there is conversation and intervening actions.

However, there is also no turning back the clock, so once people respond, the move should not be edited or changed.  The point is that in real life, once you do something, you don't have hours to contemplate your move and decide between best moves, so if it's posted, it's the same as your character doing the action, even if it turns out not to be the wisest course.

I gave a little leeway on this one because it's a gray area.

Well, mostly I backpedalled because you didn't comment on the laser shot, the others simply posted on, and I didn't want the situation to continue hanging unresolved in the air.

Next time we can handle it better. :/

Hey, all, sorry for my delays.  I had some metaphorical explosions at work that had me working 12-14 hour days and traveling all around California over the last 3 weeks or so.  But I think it's settling down and I should be back to normal posting.

Please be prepared to start posting regularly again by Monday.  I think the R&D section will be interesting and allow for some fun roleplaying.

Here. Just dunno what to do with a locked keypad other than record holo-vid of our failed attempt to open it. We could break it to override, but that would be damaging Computer property, punishable by fines or death if I remember correctly. So I'll record our Equipment Guy working on it if possible. Do we even have an EQ Guy?

I'm concerned we may need to advertise for more players for the next adventure.  I created this last adventure never thinking it would go on this long.  I think the next one I do will be a published adventure streamlined for RPoL.

PM me if you are still here and ready for a new one.  I will do a transition to take into account other (more treasonous) accomplishments, such as those for your secret society.

That was mainly due to my changing jobs and players coming and going.  I'm hoping for a faster turnaround too, typically a post every one to two days.

I may need to advertise for one or two more.  I'm in the process of selecting the next adventure.  I'm trying to find one short and funny that will translate well to RPoL.  I have a number of the published ones, so we'll see which one seems best.

I have found a published adventure that I think would be fun to run here.  I was looking for fun, short, and not overly complicated.  It's an adventure for 4-6 players that would last about 3 hours real time, but since it's only about 6 or so pages long, I think it will translate well to quick play here. It's in Classic style. (I'm not going to disclose the name because I want it all to be a surprise.)

We have four total right now, and you have all been elevated to Orange Clearance.  I am thinking of bringing in 2 more new players to round out the group and to make sure we have enough if one or two drop out.

What do you think?
