Re: In Sight

Tuar watched as Lysande's arcane bolts flew toward the robed man and spurred Dom onward to his foes.  His sword ready, Tuar jumped from the giant bird when he thought himself close enough and charged forward.

Re: In Sight

Lysande cast another spell, this time her bow began glowing with a bluish light, indicating magic was being used. Knowing that her longbow's reach equalled that of her arcane missiles she stayed put and searched for a good target as she knocked an arrow to be fired.

Re: In Sight

Keeping his place in front of the Zhent, Joseph decided against trying his bow - it was made for his exact strength, which he still wasn't at.  So, he wasn't likely to hit a thing with it, he assumed, and instead moved along - perhaps he'd get to use his blade, he figured. . .

Round 2

You close to bowshot range, and Lysande casts a spell to enhance her bow.  Only Glim is able to get an arrow away toward the men in the crevice.  He misses badly when his horse stumbles though he keeps his seat.  Tuar leaps off his bird, but his landing is clumsy and he is unable to charge the nearest bandit who then sprints to the other side of the rock to gain cover.

The bandits in the crevice fire arrows at Tuar and Glim, but both shafts fall short.

OOC:  Lysande and Lanka are about 100 ft from the rock (or crevice if you wish), Joseph and Aelynia are about 70 feet from the rock, Glim, Tuar, and Alister are about 50 feet from the rock. Please let me know if you somewhere different.

Re: Round 2

"Blast them all for not listening!" Lysande thought to herself as she saw her friends charging in. Obviously it didn't matter anymore if she stayed further away, since the black scorpions now had better targets right before them. "Ai!" the sun elf said and pressed her knees into Mourn's sides, the mare quickly responding to her request and moving forward, closing in with the enemy. The wizardess pulled her bow and let an arrow fly in haste, wishing to bring another missile to bear. While the first one seemed good, the second fell way too short.

Tuar ran toward the man with his sword raised and ready, prepared to deliver a shattering blow.  His smile grew slightly larger as he noticed the arrows falling short.  If it meant nothing else, at least he was drawing their attention away from Lysande.

Uncharacteristicly, Rend continues to circle around the fight, keeping his eyes open while muttering, "Too strange, too strange.  Where's the rest."  If he sees any of the enemy attempting to flee, he is obviously ready to run them down.

Aelynia slips off the camel as well, but takes the time to tie it to a rock or something just in case it should wander of its own volition before following Joseph.

Re: Round 3

Tuar on foot, and Alister on horeseback race around the large rock looking for the hidden bandit.  They come face to face with him, but the man's panicked point-blank shot flies wide of Tuar's head. (OOC: You can attack this coming round - I'll use any attack rolls you have already made)

Lysande and Glim close on the bandits sheltered in the hills.  Their shots are close, but the bandits' rocky cover proves a good shield, and the arrows are deflected this time.  In turn, the bandits loose arrows at their attackers, and both hit (OOC: Glim takes 5 dmg, Lysande takes 2).

The rest of you approach more slowly, looking for any other bandits.  you see none at this time.  The Zhentarim are behind you, and they appear to be waiting while you deal with the bandits.  The skinny one looks nervously towrd the approaching sand storm.

OOC:  Lanka and Aelynia are just off the map to the north.  for everyone, please let me know if I misrepresented your intent.

Tuar smirked as the arrow flew far off mark and smiled as he raised his sword and brought it down to slice through the man's armor.  With his smile growing, he watched with pride as his father's blade continued through his strike.

Re: Round 3

Lysande's delicate fingers searched in her pocket and found the material she had been looking for: A pinch of fine sand. She tossed the sand in the direction of the bandits followed by a few words of archaic pronounciation, then she urged Mourn's forward. She knew they had to end this fight fast or all would die in the coming storm.

Re: Round 3

Tuar's Greatsword does not give the wounded bandit a chance for a another shot.  With one blow the man falls without a sound, dead before he hits the ground.

Lysande's spell causes both of the remaining bandits to fall silently as well, although they are still breathing...

Meanwhile, the storm howls louder, and grains of wind-driven sand begin to find a way inside your clothing and armor.

Re: Round 3

Tuar turned around to look as his sword returned to him, rich with the blood of the bandit.  Seeing no more opponents on thier feet, the half-elf felt secure enough to take a moment to wipe the sword clean.  But already the storm is biting deep into his flesh.  "Get on, look for some type of cave or something."  The half-elf tried to call back to Dom - he wasn't sure if he'd be able to protect himself in the storm - and went to help find some safety.

"Alister, quick truss up our prisoners here. Meanwhile Glim and I will look for shelter. - Tuar, Joseph: Get the mounts together so they can be herded into a protected place." Lysande called out loudly to overcome the howling winds.

Walking at a brisk pace she looks for whatever could be used to survive the storm without harm.

"Tie them up where?!?!"  Alister retrives a rope and starts making a simple knot on his mount.  He then proceeds on binding the hands of his sleeping opponents with that rope.

"Somebody else should tie them up, later.  My knots can be easily untied."

Since she had been told to stay back for Lysande's plan, Aelynia stayed back and gathered the reins to the camels that had been left behind so that they would not try and escape the bitter winds.  Then she led them behind some of the large outcroppings of rocks where the wind would not be as brutal while she waited for the return of her companions.

Re: Round 3

Tuar frowned as he was told to gather the mounts; he didn't want to waste his time doing something that was little help in finding the shelter.  But he saw where it would be useful, and grudgingly accepted this new duty, along with the human, and began to gather the abandoned mounts in one place and waited for Lysande or Glim to report back with news of some cave or another.

A Cave

Within the ravine where the sleeping bandits had taken cover, you find three horses with light saddles.  A little further back (OOC: around W20 or so on the map) the ravine widens somewhat, and you find an entrance to a dark cave.  The is a strange, stale, sulferous stink emanating from the cave mouth, and the horses seem nervous approaching it.  However, as far as you can see, there is nothing moving around witin the first 20 feet or so.

The Zhentarim clerk calls from behind you, increasing panic in his voice, "Did you find any shelter?"

Re: A Cave

Lysande wasn't truly happy with the cave as it presented itself but they didn't have a choice really. Returning she heard the Zhentarim call out and she couldn't help but snarl in disgust: Merchants. "Yes, we found shelter. It is smelly but it will keep us safe from the storm. - Careful with the mounts though, they will be nervous because of the smell." without gracing the man with a second look she went to Tuar and received the reins of Mourn's, giving the djungle boy an encouraging smile "Le hannon."
