Re: Silver Marches OOC Forum

That would be nice if we could have character sheets over here.  Let's see, I'm 29 and living in Oklahoma.  I work as an accountant for the state.  I'd roleplayed some when I was in high school and college, but didn't really get back into it until about a year ago.  I've been playing online since then and discovered RPOL about 6-7 months ago, and I'm now playing in quite a few games here.

Re: Silver Marches OOC Forum

Well now since we're giving out ages I don't feel bad since I'm by far not the oldest at 31 I live in the Show Me state or Missouri for those of you outside the US been playing D&D for better part of 15 years not much in the way of face to face in the past twelve. Used to travel all over the world to work on equipment but now I don't do it as much as I run my own business. Which is why I'm sometimes sporatic on posts. Speaking of which I'm headed to Mexico next week and won't know if I can access the web when I get there.

Re: Silver Marches OOC Forum

Sorry this did not come up.

I will announce this over in the adventure thread.

Spellcasters should list their spells in the game thread to me.  They can do this in a private line or make it public if they like.

Thanks for asking!

Re: Silver Marches OOC Forum

Due to some asstoundingly crappy real life events, I haven't been on much, and can't promise much for a while.  Something due to moving to another city, a crappy mechanic, starting a new school, and not having a kitchen.

Don't try and figure that one out.  You wont.

Needless to say, do what needs done without me, but I will return.

I hope to have reliable net access starting next week, but it could be as late as week after some time.  I'll let you all know when I'm back online.  Please take any steps to keep the game going.

A little question...

This is a question for DM Mike, but if anyone else knows it, feel free to answer =)

I have a Dwarf Monk, as you may have already noticed =) The monks use not only their hands as weapons, but also their elbows, knees and feet. Ok, they use anything, from head to toe, right? =) The question is, when using Blade Boots, the damage dealt can be the Unarmed damage and the Boots damage?

Re: A little question...

What sourcebooks do the boot blades appear in?  I can't find them.

Since a spiked gauntlet deals only its own damage and not any from the punch attack, I'd say off-hand the blade boots do only their damage and none from the kick attack.  In both cases you'd add your bonuses for high Strength.  But the bladed gauntlet counts as an armed attack, so I wonder if kicks with the blades boots does not as well.

Hmmm....

Re: A little question...

I'm fairly certain that by using blade boots monks can use their unarmed attack bonus and do blade boot damage instead of their normal unarmed monk damage.  They act pretty much like equipping those monk weapons such as kama, nunchaku, or siangham.

They're from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book.

Re: A little question...

Yep, Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book page 97.  Thanks! (Players DO get brownie XPs for helping DMs like that, you know!)

According to the book, a monk can strike with his unarmed attack, including the more favorable number of attacks per round, for normal blade boot damage, so there is no damage for the kick per se, just for the boot.  Damage is listed as 1d4 with a crit. range of 19-20/X2.  You still get strength bonuses, though.

The attack rules get a little funky, so please Mondar, check out the listing on page 97 if you own the book.

Re: A little question...

Yes, I own it. I saw that, but since the rules there are so sparse, I thought it could exist a general rule somewhere else...

Thanks both =)

Re: A little question...

The rules are pretty specific in stating that the boots do the listed damage.  Seems pretty plain to me.  You're either hitting with the flat of your foot ala a kung-fu move or you're poking with the blade on the tip of your boot.  Kick damage in the first case, blade damage in the second.  One or the other.

Monks.  Sheesh!  They give up armor and now they want the world!

Re: INVENTORY

Good plan, I do something very similar in some of my games, but I start a new thread, instead of using the OOC one.  I don't know if thats an option for you or not, given the format of ROA.

Re: INVENTORY

I do the thread, too, but I don't want this one to get buried in all the others  I have to deal with and look at here as a DM, so unless this gets confusing, let's just keep it here.

Re: INVENTORY

And again...sorry for my absence...I seem like a politician...always saying the same thing. But, now it's for real. I'm done with the final exams, classes are restarting so now I will not feel bad for doing anything else than studying...I'm sorry if I'm causing any delay, but, Monday night, tops, I'm going to be able to post at the same pace I used too. I'm foing for a short Holiday weekend, so I probably wont be able to post, but Monday I will. DM Mike, if you feel the need to, role play Mondar. If not, just let him be, as long as he don't die... ;P

See ya all Monday!

And again, sorry!
