Re: thunderstone

Well... good luck! He'll keep wandering off! ;)

That way I can be even MORE annoying! ;)

So. If I'm evil and ever face clerics of Oghma, you just need to send in a tribe of barbarians and that will distract them with their reading and writing lessons whilst you can go around and evilly burn down villages?! :)

Re: thunderstone

Ah, to be precise the instruction reads: "Teach any folk who ask how to read and write or as much of these crafts as time permits - and charge no fee for this teaching."

So no, the clerics and monks will go kick ass first, have lessons later. :)

Of course, Walter is also stuck with "They must never slay a singer, nor stand by while others do so. They are to listen to new bards whenever they meet them and sponsor bards when they can." and "Sponsor, assist and teach minstrels, bards, scribes and recordkeepers whenever you encounter them and perceive a need." And by Oghma does Walter perceive a need here. :p

Re: thunderstone

lol, the reaction from every one with the characters remarks is just hilarious.  Penville you two are one of the others who is going to get this reaction from him.  We all know dwarves are slow to trust so its just something I'm playing out with the character.  Walter was with the group from the start but even Torbetton is a little stand offish, just not like with complelty new people.  Nothing against new people at all.  I am well aware of the difficulties in rpol.

Well I guess I'm playing the slightly dim, unwise and fully trusting halfling. So we're all friends till you try to kill him. Twice. (everyone can be forgiven for trying to kill him once)

Re: thunderstone

LMAO, he is a crafter, so even his wizard tactics are a little slow.  We all know wizards are squishy.  The point of this character was to be able to outfit his traveling companions.

I just hoped he wouldn't subsequently misidentify wyverns, bats and birds as a result.

You can still draw pictures.

But you'd be in big trouble from the Oghmyte librarian if you do! :(

Re: thunderstone

Not going to press to much further into the religious thing.  Mainly because the dwarf doesn't have the focused knowledge in such things.  I am relieved that you picked up that I was keeping him adamant about his own dwarven heritage of religion.  The only reason why I have any kind of behind the scenes rules on how the gods work is one, I do read the novels currently working on the Drzzt stories.  And two, I just got done creating a deity from scratch.  Speaking the gods name does empower the god to a degree.  When the name is spoken a deity can look into events up to a mile radius from where the name was spoken and up to an hours worth after.  The person who spoke it does not have to be a follower of said god.

Walter, your argument does have logic to the dwarf and so is why he sees your argument, but if he had any ranks in knowledge he would be attempting to argue that point.

Re: thunderstone

Oh, it was a very good point to make. It's a good reaction for people in the world to have, explaining why so many gods have titles, and an appropriate fear to have. And you're probably correct. A follower of Oghma just has a different take on things. :)

Re: thunderstone

Kobolds? Psh!

(Okay I have killed an entire party with their traps... but if players will charge after the kobolds in the darkness, downhill, when they can't see. They can't get much of a save for a pittrap can they?)

Re: thunderstone

I have removed Samuel and Catheroi (the priest who barely introduced himself before disappearing) from the game and will NPC Danglart until a new trapspringer may join. To avoid the disruptions of introducing new players this will be the team for a while (more or less over the next encounter).

So, the current team is thus: Walter, Torbetton, Penville (and Bigby), Dyvim, and Danglart (NPC'd)

any roleplaying xp? 80 would do ;)

It's horrible being stuck on the edge of levelling for months on end!

Penville is ready to go! Oh what fun, seeing if the things we see are in the little book?! :)
