Re: Silver Marches Adventure: The Absent-Minded Sage
Taman scowled yet again and watched as the others tried to arouse Raiden to no avail.  "Maybe we should destroy the crystal," he muttered, hefting his axe. "It is an unnatural thing anyway."

As Galain slapped him, the tiefling began screaming and cursing like a lunatic, and shoved the elf away. But he was still sleeping.

"I think I agree with taman," the Paladin decides outloud after a moment.  never being one to sit idle when action is calld for, she raises her sword, and, unless anyone stops her, strikes the crystal to shatter it.

Re: Silver Marches Adventure: The Absent-Minded Sage
Galain jumps up and grabs Silifrey's hand, Don't! Shattering the crystal is as likely to kill him, as wake him up. We need to study this a little more carefully. It's like the thing with the stairs just clever ways to trick thieves and would be conquerers.

Galain studies the crystal without touching it. Trying to figure out how it worked.

Galain studies the crystal......
......and suddenly blinding blue light erupts from the crystal and blinds everyone momentarily! When they open their eyes they see Raiden is slowly awakening up but odd was that he weared a slightly different, more stylish and expensive, clothing and new scythe in his hands!

Re: Silver Marches Adventure: The Absent-Minded Sage
He was atop a stepped mountain of blood-red stone, a ziggurat temple to some forgotten demon god. It reached up to a sky of boiling black clouds on red, crackling with dark lightning and rumbling with thunder. Before him stretched the planes of the hells, a landscape of nightmares.

And crawling up the steps of the ziggurat was an army of the damned. Devils of all shapes and sizes racing up to the top to destroy him.

And meet their dooms.

His scythe slashed out, caught the head off one then spun around to slice the arms off another. The next was cut right down the middle, and he kicked an imp right off.

For hours he fought the devil army, a hurricane of steel and death, his blade ripping through the fiends with great cleaving blows. Limbs and heads flew, gouts of blood sprayed, and fiends screamed in pain and terror.

He tasted blood, the air was a mist of fine gore. His own pounded in his ears, raging, burning. It felt good to be damned.

At last he stood atop a mountain of bodies, and eerie calm settled over the hellish scene. There were no more fiends left to slay. Victory was his.

He raised his scythe in the air, and cried out in a great roar of victory.

He was a champion of the Abyss, a prince, a king. And all the spoils would be his. Riches, worship, fear. A kick-ass scythe.

And a succubus stood before him...

...and resolved itself into Silifrey as he woke up.

"Damn it! he muttered.

Raiden looked around, surprised at the transformation. He wore a fine red suit trimmed with black beneath his leather armour. A black ring set with a ruby was on his finger.

And in his hands was a scythe, a new one, with a long black wooden handle and a gnarled blade of reddened steel. The joint was carved into the likeness of a horned demon, with bat wings enclosing the blade.

The Reaper.

"Alright!"

He finally registered the others and their surprise. "Uh, yeah, what happened?"

Re: Silver Marches Adventure: The Absent-Minded Sage
Galain shielded his face and cursed loudly in elven as the light blinded him. As his blurred vision cleared and he saw Raiden wake up, he rubbed his eyes and said excitedly, I saw you! You were fighting and then everything went blue. Wow I wonder what happened. He gazed at Raiden's altered gear, ANd where did that stuff come from!

Silifrey eyes the decorations on the weapon with distrust, "From the Nine Hells by the looks of it!"

Silifrey invokes her ability to detect evil.

Re: Silver Marches Adventure: The Absent-Minded Sage
Raiden's eyes flashed at the mention of the Hells. "The Infinite Layers Of The Abyss, actually." he said curtly.

The tiefling cradled his scythe, and examined it. "I think I went home." he murmured. He wasn't sure if he liked it or if hated it, or if he hated himself for liking it. He did like the succubus though.

"Maybe you should try touching the crystal?" he suggested. Finally, I do something stupid that pays off.

OOC:
Galain - I don't think you saw Raiden fighting, that was all in his dream.
Silifrey - Sure, why not? :D Probably faint background aura, fading fast. Raiden's still not evil though. DM King might have something to say?

((Actyally she's not intereste din hsi aura, but in the aura of the equipment he brought back with him.))

"I don't know anything about magic, but if old wives tales are tob e believed, teh thing probably won't work twice.  Still..."  Shrugging her shoulders as if to say (perhaps fatefully) 'what's the worst that could happen', Silifrey does as advised, and picks up the crystal.

"Who knows?" Raiden said as Silifrey was just about to touch the crystal. "Perhaps you won't go to the Abyss."

When Silifrey touches the crystal she passes out also to deep sleep and almost by unseen force is slugged over one stone chairs and she dreams....again the crystal glows.

Knowing what would happen Galain eagerly went over to the crystal and gazed deep within its facets wondering if he would get to see Silifrey in battle like he did Raiden.

Taman looks on in surprised silence as Raiden revives, no gear in tow.  He raises an eyebrow as Silfrey takes the crystal.  He moves over next to Galain, looking down over his shoulder to see if he can see whatever it is the wizard sees.
