The BTR group had been gone for almost half an hour when Dettinger heard something. It was vehicles approaching from almost the same direction as the two teams had gone towards. From the sound of it, there was at least one tracked vehicle amongst them, maybe more.
A few minutes went by with the vehicles growing ever closer until, at last, Dettinger spotted them through his binoculars. He'd already called a warning down to the others at the first sound of them. This time he reached for the radio.
"Sentry to all. Vehicles near camp. One BMP, two light still trucks with trailers, one UAZ with towed mortar, one school bus with large trailer. Heading south on main road at speed. Estimate minimum two dozen soldiers. No imminent danger. Out."
