Outside
Mal cautiously looks around the slightly opened door and sees a large open area. In the area a few dozen Polish soldiers can be seen moving about on various tasks. Fresh bandages adorn some of these men, obviously wounded from the recent fighting. Most carry military weapons - AK-74's, AKR's, Pistol's and a few SVD sniper rifles.
There are no vehicles but plenty of evidence of this being a cavalry unit - fresh horse droppings are plentiful.
Approximately 10 metres away from the doorway, a barbed wire enclosure surrounds a large group of approximately 50 US prisoners, most of whom are wounded, some greviously. No obvious attention is directed towards these captives by the Polish troops, however, there are a couple of civilians pushing small amounts of food through between the wires. There are no officers or senior NCO's visible in the enclosure.
Another building, probably once a warehouse, sits on the other side of the enclosure.
You recognise this small village as Zdunska Wola, located approximately 40 km south west of the city of Lodz.
