Re: Announcements

Due to a mailing mixup, I still haven't received War in the Heavens: Lifeweb. However I expect to receive it within a week, at which point I'll read through for the vital information I need to start things off. Thanks for bearing with me, everyone.

Re: Announcements

I have just received War in the Heavens: Lifeweb, and will study it thoroughly tonight. Once I have read up on the topics I need, I'll be able to begin the game.

Re: Announcements

The Game Info has been updated. Please familiarize yourselves with the setting and timeframe. Necessary adjustments have been made to your characters' birthdates for continuity with the game's current year. Character history adjustments were not necessary for those of you with approved characters.

It's time to begin. With some posts, I will include a link to an audio file intended to set the mood. Please listen to these if possible while you read the narrative. As players, you are also welcome to link your own audio files with your posts if you wish. Background music can make a big difference in one's gaming experience.

Oh, one more thing - please do post in the past-tense, as that will allow all our posts to flow seamlessly and will make it easier for me to compile threads into a novel, should I attempt it in the future.

With that said...let's get this show started. ;)

Re: Announcements

The events currently taking place in the game for each character are intended to be simultaneous. Therefore timeframe is an issue. This means I need everyone to keep up, regardless of whether your characters interact with one another directly. Tycho, you're keeping up pretty well, thank you. E_V_I_L, I understand your fewer posts are due to more inactivity on your character's part for the time being. Tileira, I'd like a bit faster posting rate from you please. Thanks everyone.

Re: Announcements

I realize that I haven't mentioned this before, so I will now. Posting rates should generally be no fewer than once per week, and ideally as frequent as once every few days. Any less than that and the game begins to lose momentum, and with it, other players' interests.

If anyone can't meet this standard for whatever reason, please let me know as soon as possible. Also, if something comes up on occasion which prevents you from posting for a while, please inform me so I can move the game along without waiting on your posts.

In certain cases, lack of posts for your character may be entirely sensible, particularly if the game's progress isn't very dependent on your character's actions at the moment. In other cases, however, the game's progress may be heavily or even completely dependent on your character's actions, which means the story can't move forward until you respond. Generally it should be evident from the IC context whether your character's actions are integral or not at a given time.

As your GM, I have an obligation to do what's necessary to keep the game flowing steadily for everyone. Therefore, if a player goes longer than one week without posting - and that player's post is absolutely necessary to move the game forward - AND that player has not provided some notice of temporary inactivity - then I will npc their character as needed until I hear back from that player. I will also make an effort to transition that character's role in the story to a lesser one so that the need for npc'ing them is reduced, should the same thing happen again in the future.

Re: Announcements

Due to a small contradiction in background info (which is actually the fault of one of the Fading Suns authors apparently), the "Ruad Cathedral" has been changed to the "Darmak Cathedral". The Ruad Cathedral is actually the Brother Battle Order's main Holy See, and stands at Ruad on De Moley.

Re: Announcements

A note on the audio tracks - Putfile is known to be slow loading, so it's a good idea to let the tracks load for a minute before playing them, rather than hearing a choppy version the first time through. Also, you may want to increase the volume to 100% since the player defaults at 50%, which tends to be far too low with the tracks I'm using.

Re: Announcements

Due to the fact that we currently have a total of 2 active players in a drama that is intended for at least a small group, the game will be on hold until I hear back from one of the following players:

E_V_I_L
Tileira
Jess

Since Jess is with us again, we're back in action. However, I am still hoping to hear from E_V_I_L and Tileira soon.

Re: Announcements

Alright, we have some new players and at least one old player still around. Time to get this thing started up again. Who's still with us? Make a post in the OOC thread so we all know who's still on board and who isn't.

Re: Announcements

Putfile seems to be having some problems uploading audio files at this time, so I'll be using Houndbite for the time being. Unfortunately this means files will be in mp3 format and a little lower in quality, but on the bright side they should play instantly for you, unlike Putfile's slow loading.

Remember to open the music links in a seperate tab of your browser so you can listen as you read. The sound files' durations are tailored to the lengths of their corresponding posts.

Also remember that as stated previously, you can (and are encouraged to) link your own audio files with your posts should you feel so inclined. Music adds a lot to a roleplaying experience for everyone involved.

Re: Announcements

Just as a reminder to everyone, we are NOT using the standard Fading Suns system mechanics. Refer to the System Mechanics notice for the house rules being used for this game.

Re: Announcements

For some reason Houndbite.com is experiencing technical difficulties so the music links aren't working at the moment. Hopefully this problem will get fixed soon, otherwise I'll have to find another upload site. If anyone has any suggestions for other sites like Putfile and Houndbite, please let me know.

Re: Announcements

Since Houndbite is still having technical problems, I've found a new site to host music for the game - SoundLantern. Be aware that SoundLantern tends to load slower than Houndbite (so you may want to wait a few moments before playing the tracks to avoid starts and stops), but at least it appears more reliable. You can also download the tracks if you like.

From here on, I will be editing links to audio clips into some of your posts, depending on how well it serves the drama. As always, feel free to do this yourselves as well, if you like.

Re: Announcements

My struggle to find a reliable audio-upload site continues. SoundLantern has unfortunately gone under. I am now using Onmvoice.com. So far, so good. I've replaced the SoundLantern links with Onmvoice links so those should now work. I've also noticed that the old Putfile links that I used for the earlier parts of the game are no longer working. When time allows, I'll go back through the threads and replace the Putfile links with Onmvoice ones. Hopefully Onmvoice.com is here to stay...
