Re: the tunnels tremble with anticipation.

The realization that this specter was a servant of the spider made Aleis recoil some.  He tightened his jaw and largely remained silent.  Even the spider once may have had virtue.  This priestess clearly had been horrified by her actions.  "What happened to you after you wove your magic?"  He asked simply, trying to come at this from a more empathic angle.

Re: the tunnels tremble with anticipation.

Arminna mentally chastised herself.  Because Kyariniel was a ghost, it was throwing her reactions off.  Arminna took a deep breath and asked, "Kyariniel, is there anything we can do to help you?"

Re: the tunnels tremble with anticipation.

The male looked back and forth from the collective of females, then sighed.  If they weren't go to tell her, he would.  He found her undead nature abhorrent, but containable if needed.  "Your goddess betrayed us all.  We now put our faith in other places while we mend her treachery.  She intended to aspire to greater power and warred with the other gods, and was thankfully defeated before her treachery consumed all elf kind.  Her daughter stands to mend that very deceit, and welcomes our kind into her embrace."  Aleis hesitated for a moment, then kept his disparaging thoughts of outright faith to himself.

"We may never know, Kyariniel," Arminna said to her.  "Betrayal is one of the hardest things to understand.  Most of the time, the best we can do is work to keep it from happening again."

"It cannot be" she says desperately

"I was a priestess of the lady of destiny, of the weaver..."

she does not seem like she will see reason on this issue, then again shes had tens of millenia to come to terms with it...

Re: the tunnels tremble with anticipation.

So, it seemed, they were to nurse the psyche of a tormented soul.  On the one hand, Aleis did pity her, but on the other matters of faith and religion were not his strongest area.  That meant either relying on someone else, which Aleis was even worst at, or making things up.  Not his worst area.  "All things have the potential for change.  People.  Places.  Even deities.  The Weaver grew a hunger for power, which nearly destroyed her in the end.  Our kind fell with her, but the Weaver's daughter embraces those who would some day return to our old faiths.  Perhaps you could help to bring such a revelation about, if your faith remains noble in nature."

Re: the tunnels tremble with anticipation.

Aleis raised his eyebrow.  "You legitimately know none of it?  How our people fell and the Maiden seeks to redeem us to the rest of elfkind?"  The male asked, eyeing the spirit.  Hard to imagine that the specter was from a time when gods were young.  Harder still to imagine that she had been haunting this spot, undisturbed, for so long as well.  "Have we a tale or two we aught to tell you of our people...."

Arminna watched Kyariniel disappear, then quickly moved to Meeka's side.  Barely finding life in her friend, she cast healing spells to stabilize her.  "She's alive, but she needs more help than I can give her.  We're going to have to return to Svartheim."

Taking a short break to catch her breath, she turned to Aleis.  "You did well with Kyariniel, Aleis.  Thank you. "

Re: the tunnels tremble with anticipation.

Arminna sadly bids farewell to her good friend Meeka, knowing that it will be good for the warrior-mage to take some time off to recover.  Knowing that it they may have to head out at anytime, she recommends that they take some time to resupply.  As they work their way through the town, Arminna decides to get a cloak.

Once they're done with their purchases they head out for the village in question, with Arminna attaching her insignia of Subcommander to her new cloak.  While they walk, she asks Aleis "So, what do you think of Svartheim?"

Arminna hears the new melody and stops her evensong, trying to catch what she can.  After which, she begins a more intense and direct series of prayers to get more insight.
