A grevious crime has been commited in a outlying village, the people will be outraged enough they'll kill the perpetutraotor, not knowing he is not totally culpable for his actions, some outside force compelled his actions... yet... violating another Sexually has been punishable by death in Svartheim since a day and age when slavery was yet lawful

Arminna mulls over her Commune as she goes to sleep that night.  In the morning, she decides to talk to the others as they eat breakfast.  "Does anyone know about the area we're going to? " she asks.

Jhaelryna sighs "Their Fishermen, generally peacable and kindly, but that would only make them more outraged over an incident like this... Their far away from the Dwarven border but youths Generally still go to the front for a few years, many taking auxillery roles, but a handful have enough aptitude for weapons that they become officers or champions,  same as most villages really.

Arminna nods.  "We will need to be careful with this case," she says as she eats.  "Things may not be as simple as they appear. "

Jhaelnya pauses "What do we do, if the villagers will not listen to reason, I wouldnt blame them to be honest"

"First things first, we need to get to the bottom of it," Arminna replies.  "Once we know the truth, we'll be better able to handle things."

"So go in and investigate?" She asks

once they get there, they'll find the village is in a uproar... the elder is a elderly drow woman looking fairly lovely, but having a great weight when she greets armianna... "I do not like having to judge this case, why did the lady of song let it happen? Tell me if you can for I do not wish to take the life of one of the residents, but such is the only just sentence for this despicable crime"

Arminna greets the elder with a serious look of her own.  "I do not know why this has happened, " she replies.  "But, by the grace of the Dark Maiden, I am here to find out.  What can you tell me about the incident?" she asks.

"The accused ..." She pauses hesitant... "He always seemed like a kind, and honest lad, not one that one could ascribe this dreadful crime to, but weve allready got numerous testimonials, and the fact that he's fled to the wilds this by itself, is substansive evidence my lady" she says with a sigh...

"We will do what must be done to sort out this situation, " Arminna tells the elder.   Turning to Jhaelnya, she says, "You stay here with the soldiers, and try to find out what you can.  {Scout} and I will see if we can find the accused. "

Jhaelnya pauses "Yes my lady but might you not benefit from my lore as well if some kind of strange magic caused his actions, I might have some kenning of it"

Arminna pauses as she thinks over Jhaelnya's suggestion.   "Perhaps you're right," she says. "Very well, then.  Get yourself ready; we leave in a half-hour."

she nods and outfits herself carrying her crutch with her, along with her instruments too "I still know how to use a blade have no fear" she assures her.

"Of that I have no fear, " Arminna replies as she gets her own gear ready.  "But remember, our objective in this is search is to return him if we can. "

She nods "So, a sleep spell then, should allow him to be bound, easily enough"

"Yes, that is the idea, " Arminna says as she closes her pack.  She then begins to meditate until it is time for them to head out.

She nods

"The law is Crystal clear And While harsh is just. Given your divination, you think some Fiend snuck in and drove him to it? " asks perplexed.



After 4 days of searching the two find a trail... just the slightest trace of the boy up ahead. " Well I'm more then ready" She assures Arminna"

"I don't know what may be the cause, but I have reason to believe that an outside force is involved," Arminna replies.  "In any case, the accused is entitled to a fair trial."


"As am I," Arminna says, mentally readying her spells.  "Let us proceed."

they go in, the youth greets them with a hurled dagger...  which just barely misses Armianna, praise be to the Dark maiden.

"So you have come for me." He snarls, "I am ready if you wish to take me down." He sneers

he does not seem a trained and competent fighter.

"We are not here to harm you," Arminna says to him.  "Eilistraee has heard of your distress, and has sent us to help."

He sneers "And I am to care what the Silver Harlot wishes"


Jhaelnya finishes a spell and he falls down

"He wasnt overly powerful thankfully... she sighs

"So we bind him and carry him back... or interrogate him see if we find anything else out... as they... do seem in a rather lynch mobbish mentality.

"We will bind him, but we will question him here," Arminna replies.  "His time asleep should be long enough for me to ready the appropriate spells."

she nods "Fair enough If you want I could try talking to him I'm a bard im reasonably good at persuading people" but will wait...

"An excellent idea, Jhaelnya," Arminna says.  In the meanwhile, she readies a Detect Lie spell.

Hes bound, and does stir within a few hours... She talks with him "Why Have you done all the things you have"

he shrugs


She sighs "You have commited rape, by laws as old as these caverns only death is considered a reasonable punishment for this crime, do ytou have nothing to say in your defense?" She pleads offended

he sighs "I dont... I dont know, it just... it made sense at the time"

"Made Sense how could it make sense?" She asks offended


"Well you see I was pursuing a rothe that had strayed from the herd..."

Begins describing it in detail... for a bit.

"Never did find it... after a bit I found a bird " she turns gaunt "A bird down here"

he nods "yes it had black feathers... looked kind of like a raven"

Jhaelnya looks scared... and like she allready has a suspician she desperately hopes is wrong...

"It had brown and gold feathers,"

"Anything else?" she asks nervously

"Stripes... of turqoise?"

seeing if he goes "ah yeah" to fake her out


"No it was blood red"

"When it touched me, nothing seemed to matter but taking what I wanted, so I took it" He laughs "And I do not regret it. I feel a state of perfect freedom from honor, kindness obligation or charity, I take what I want when I want it"

Not one words hes said has been a lie.

Jhaelnya sighs "He encountered a a Simpathetic, I know tales of them from Sigil, their evil birds born of the Abyss they... EAT virtue, leaving nothing in someone but hate and greed some of my sources said they were trying to expand to other planes

This condition... often fixes itself but hardly always, do we put him down to keep things safe, or hold him... who knows where for months as we hope for his behaviour to normalize again?"

"Normalize?" He sneers   "Why would I want that."
