Re: 18-20th Eleasias (Highsun) 1370 - Year of the Takard
For the next hour, Lucretia struggles against his bonds as the call continues to drone silently on.  For the non-humans, the call is unheard, but its effect is clearly seen, and not just in Lucretia.  Yvandel and Milo both get headaches from the concentration needed to keep resisting, and sag with relief when the magical summons ends.  Mosstreader and Blondung seem to have been less effected, but they too show relief once it is over.

Lucretia seems to awaken from his trance and finds himself bound and aching from the constant effort to escape his bonds and travel to the river.

Re: 18-20th Eleasias (Highsun) 1370 - Year of the Takard
The tension of having to make secure one of their own bothers her more then she will admit and it was a long period of time until the sirine call ended and they could rest again.

Frowning as she looked across the land towards where the sound came from as anger simmered just below the surface of her thoughts. "Someone ought to put a stopper in that lich sirine song and send the monster on its way to the burning lands where it belongs. I mean we have a strong group of experienced adventures and we could have lost some of our friends tonight."
She had to guess taking on the lich was not the smartest thing she had considered and that most of the others would not want to test that grave master with their skills right now, still she would not mind coming back and finish the task later.

Looking over at the ranger she nods to his wise council, "aye, still one can have hope to see the place striken from the mortal planes."

With a smile she looked at Dorn," May we share many a tankard yet before that day arrives, there is to much of this lands i have not seen yet."

Still she worked to urge everyone onward and away from the sirines song again.

Coming to himself Luc is struck with panic as he starts panting and thrashing wildly against his bonds.

He tugs at his bonds with all his strength up to the point the bonds cut into his skin drawing blood.

Yv sighs deeply, feeling very drained once the call finally stops,'How many times does that occur in a night?  I'm seriously wondering if we need to take a different route.  I'm really not sure I can stand that awful call for very long.'

"Hey, take it easy Luc!" says, Milo, hurring over to the bound fighter.  "We had to tie you up - you were on your way for a swim!" he says.  "Stop straining, you're only making the knots tighter!"

He hesitates, putting his hands on the knots.  "If all us humans are affected as Lucretia was, I'm sure Dorn won't be able to tackle us all and tie us up."  He shakes his head.  "We need a strategy...  something that will help us in case we are all affected, but also something that won't prevent us defending ourselves if something more mundane stumbles across our camp..."

He looks around and then back at Lucretia.  "Any ideas?"

Luc blinks incredulously at Milo, and his panting eases out somewhat as his eyes dart from his face to his bonds then to the others around the camp. Realization of the situation dawns on him, and he calms down.

"Yeah I have and idea... fer starters cut me loose will ya!" he snaps irritatedly.

OOC: assuming he is unted or cut loose...

He stands up and shakes his cramping muscles as the cuts from the ropes already are nonexistent...

"I thought one of the first spells you wizards learned was to put people to sleep... but you can still wake up from it. Shouldn't that block the call?" he asks around his eyes landing on Merrel.

The wizard rubbed his angular chin, noting that he needed a shave rather badly, "I do have a sleep spell of sorts that would work on you. But it would require 4 such castings each night for all of the full-blooded humans. That would use all save one of my spells of that particular power. I suppose we three spell casters could spread the castings out between us.
Yvandel, does one of your specialized talents have access to Deep Slumber? It is a slightly more powerful version of the Sleep spell.

Also,  I am not sure if the call itself would not wake you. I suppose we could experiment but we would not know if it were the spell blocking the call or your own willpower if you were to remain asleep.
"

"Master Mosstreader, How many days did you say we would be within range of the Liches call?"

Yv nods, 'Yes.  I have that spell and it could certainly put some of us to sleep, but the magical nature of the sleep only lasts a few minutes.  After that, if the call is enough to wake us out of normal sleep, it would wake us after being magically slept.   It's just not long enough duration to be useful for this situation.'

"Several days" repeats Mosstreader, replying to Merrell's question.  "At least five I would guess" he adds.

Glancing around the group, he purses his lips.  "I personally would rather be tied up when the call comes" he says after a moment.  "I mean, cutting several of us free in the event of some other alarm that needs the party to be up and ready for action might only take a few moments - but trying to stop several of you from simply walking off and jumping into the river might take longer...  stopping Lucretia took several of us..." he concludes.

"Ah think tying up those who can hear the call makes the most sense.  We'll keep two of us on guard at all times, if something comes after us, one will confront and slow it down while the other cuts the bounds.  If you are asleep and someone wakes and cuts you free, you know you need to do the same to the others still bound, as quick as possible.  Mah guess is, there isn't a lot of random predators hanging out this close to the Lichlords domains"

She had heard the sirine sound of the chanting coming from across the river and began wondering why they had passed so close to where the voices were. Still she was fairly sure that it had not seemed to effect as much as the humans in her group.

"Well, i suspect that means those of us with some resistance to the sirine call will be on watch in the night hours that we are here, which is fine by me for now.
Now i should ask if there are other dangers from that land across the river?. Do the lichs send out undead patrols or flying scouts looking for more bodies they can use.?"

"Probably not the same one - but yes, when I experienced it before, I had to resist several summons" says Mosstreader sombrely.

Pulling out some more rope, he offers it to Ceely.  "Perhaps you could tie me" he asks simply.

Dorn nods and looks a little sad, "Before we do this, non humans, let's talk fer a moment...."

Stepping away, he waits for the others, and then makes an apology if they know this, but then shows them a few basic knots, and how to wrap them underneath not to cause too many rubbing sores, and how to tie them tight enough to work but that will get tighter if someone struggles against them, basic knowledge to himself, and maybe just a refresher to the others.

Merrell watched patiently as the Dwarf showed his knot tying skills. After the demonstration he tries his hand at it. When he feels that he has the basics down he asks the dwarf, "Would it not be better to bind them in a way that we will not have to cut the ropes, but have them loosen with a tug? It will save us on having lots of small pieces of rope afterword and also it will keep them safer as we will not have to cut close to their skin.
Do you think we should also tie them to something so they can not walk far, maybe a tree or maybe one of us?

"I can teach you the best knots" interjects Mosstreader.

A short while later, Dorn, Ceely and Merrell have secured Mosstreader, Milo, Blondung and Yvandel using a combination of Mosstreader's ranger knots and Ceely's fishing knots and it is Lucretia's turn...

Contrary to what he says, he goes over to Merrel. Putting his hands in a gesture of submission meaning 'tie me' he says, "keep your dagger handy. Any sign of danger and I don't want you fiddling about with knots."

Yv seems very uncomfortable once tied up.  He fidgets trying to get comfortable but isn't able to.  'Don't you think you could stop me really easily if i tried to go?  Maybe even just tie my leg to a post that would take me forever to untie.   I'm just trying to figure out a better option than this!'

I know you don't. Neither do I, the Wizard says to his good friend.
"But maybe we should tie it so we can get you loose without having to cut the rope. I mean, do you really trust me trying to cut the ropes instead of your wrist?" he says jokingly.

Luc smiles at his friend and says, "I don't mind a little cut now and then... else I wouldn't have taken up fighting."

Tapping his heart he adds, "after the initial hurt it wouldn't do much lasting harm."

He then breaks up into laughter saying, "Hell, the fireballs you blasted on top me have done more damage!"

Re: 18-20th Eleasias (Highsun) 1370 - Year of the Takard
It is with trepidation that the group finally bedded down for the night, this time with five of their number bound in one way or another with relatively quick release knots.  Uncomfortable, and finding it hard to sleep, the group are almost relieved when the call happens again as it suddenly made what had seemed like a perhaps excessive measure to be highly justified.

11:31, Today: Narrator rolled 17,9,21,20,25 using d20+6,d20+0,d20+8,d20+7,d20+6 with rolls of 11,9,13,13,19. Party_WILL_Rolls:_BLmY+Moss DC10.

Again, Lucretia is the one most affected, who starts mindlessly straining against his bonds in an attempt to break free.  Dorn, Merrell and Ceely are there however to make sure he is unsuccessful and after a short while, the call fades and the silent struggle against it is ceased.

Later, a different summons is heard, this one seemingly more powerful as both Blondung and Mosstreader are also affected along with Lucretia, all three straining at their bonds to try to escape.  Tired and on edge, the three non-humans watch over them carefully, making sure there is no chance of them breaking their bonds or wriggling free in their struggles to escape.  Yvandel and Milo, yet again resisting the magical call simply grit their teeth and watch on helplessly as their more affected companions mindlessly strain to escape.

11:35, Today: Narrator rolled 8,1,11,25,8 using d20+6,d20+0,d20+8,d20+7,d20+6 with rolls of 2,1,3,18,2. Party_WILL_Rolls:_BLmY+Moss DC10.

In the early hours of the morning, with very little sleep having been got by any, another call happens.  This time it seems further away, and even Lucretia manages to resist, and watches with the others as this time it is Milo who is worst affected, the large man almost trying to roll away towards the river once he'd failed to break free.

11:35, Today: Narrator rolled 18,18,19,9,17 using d20+6,d20+0,d20+8,d20+7,d20+6 with rolls of 12,18,11,2,11. Party_WILL_Rolls:_BLmY+Moss DC10.
