Re: Safari II

Kelsey dismounts, weapon held at ready cross body.

"Ok folks, spread out."

She herself took a position and was looking around, then radios in.

"This is Bishop one, target reached.  We are scanning for signs of life, so far negative."

Re: Safari II

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 70):

"Will continue on south to, ah, 48 Ave intersection. Rook, you assist with unit on the Game Farm grounds or cover our back-trail north up Highway 13. Or whichever you think is best."

The Cougar passed by them. It was heading for the intersection to the south. From there, they could cover west for a considerable distance.

OOC: Rook can either assist Bishop at the Game Farm (GVZ) or stay on highway 13 and cover the route they came down in case they were followed. Or whatever Andy thinks is best.

Re: Safari II

Mac suggests to Andy that at least one of them ought to go into the Game Farm on account of it was them who examined Woozle's injury so can describe it and ask for advice/assistance in treating her.

"That's a good point," Andy agreed, "Bishop, this is Rook. Suggest that Rook 3 assists meet and greet as he has first hand knowledge of the injury."

He looked at Mac and said, "Get ready to go if we get a green light."

So far, she has seen no signs that this place is still inhabited.

Tom was again out of the vehicle as fast as possible taking up a position with some cover. He covered his arc's with his rifle and then once happy that no one was going to open up he started using his binoculars to have a distant look.

"Everyone out or do you still want a driver and gunner to stay mounted?", Abott asked on the team radio.

Re: Safari II

The dismounts carefully made their way through the rusted-open gate to the main administration wing. From there, a sign directed them to the veterinary office. Inside the small animal clinic, Mac and Hawke were quickly able to find the specialised surgical instruments that would allow them to operate on the wounded elephant.

The stainless steel tools were in good shape. Not surprisingly, the wide store of animal tranquilisers and other drugs were either looted some time ago, or long gone off.

"I had been hoping to find someone who could advise, if not actually attend our patient," said Mac.

He started rooting around for any veterinary textbooks...

It seemed like no one had been there for the better part of a year or more. The whole complex had an abandoned feel.

In the vet's office were an extensive set of reference materials on the kinds of animals once kept at the game farm, including files and binders of the individual animals.

"What about the community?  The people here had to go somewhere.  This is a business, not a residence.  Still lots of work for a vet, especially a large animals vet.  There's a difference.  Your local small animal vet does neutering and dog/cat surgery, not horses or cows.  These guys would be in demand to keep the food production in business."

"Hawke, we need to keep an eye on our objective and the threat level as well as the time.  The people here might be dead or far away.  We weren't really expecting anyone to have set up shop here, if you recall, but we are pretty close to a possible military objective we might want to scope out quickly before moving on."
