Andy is an NPC. As such I don't want to sideline Mac because of his decision.

If you think the snipers would be better in some kind of lookout role I will be fine with that.

Yeah, we split the team in two. The main group up in a building with good field of fire and observation and a mobile team of two. Kel can lead  the second element with whomever wants to join her.

Just to be clear, I don't have access to any maps you don't. Aside from the customs buildings, most structures there are intact. Look at the map, make your choices!

There are some very tall grain silos that would suit Andrews and the Charlie G. To the right of Highway 13 in the farm buildings surrounded by fields.

I would think that in this situation,  we don't necessarily have to be constrained by lines on the map.

I am thinking that little patch of woods just next to the former parking lot, just north of the border.  I think it gives good position no matter the route.

Tony,

Are the trees/undergrowth along the approach highway quite thick ? Thanks.

Instead of an ambush, can we instead shape the hedges into fanciful creatures?

Deploying the charlie G will be a problem then if the only shot is down the road head on. I don't think they will lead the column with armor and after that first shot that's it done. Looking at the map that is probably the only option as a flank shot will be out of the question due to those trees.

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 508):

You can do both!

https://drive.google.com/open?...slhA&usp=sharing

Here is a suggested ambush line. The idea is that the lead vehicle is let through and is smoked by the Cougar, which is hull down on the rise to the north of the old customs house. The MG fires enfilade down the road. Claymores cover both sides to take out any dismounts. You have few dismounts of your own so the old customs house is probably the best place to stick them as it's good cover. The one problem with the building is that there are no windows directly facing the road.

[Private to GM: So we are waiting for the Americans to come up from the USA or are the claymores for once we fall back ?].

I like foxholes better than the building.  Put dismounts in foxholes behind all that nice overgrown, maybe UNDER shrubs.

Re: OOC4

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 512):

You are thinking of deploying an ambush line on the western side? It is easy to dig in as the road is a little raised.

The Claymores can be deployed in 3 ways.

1) On the same side of the ambush line to take out anyone trying to rush the ambushers (as is standard UK/CF/Commonwealth counter-ambush drill).

2) On the far side as the ambush line to catch anyone trying to escape that way.

3) Both. As well, you can open the ambush by setting off your Claymores FIRST. This produces excellent results against soft-skinned vehicles.

NOTE: You do not have a lot of personnel with which to man the Cougar, the M240 dismounted from the Humvee, the Carl Gustav, the ERYX, plus a 2-person mobile detachment in the Humvee. Tremblay will make some suggestions but he'll need to get creative!

Re: OOC4

In reply to helbent4 (msg # 513):

Ah, I see!

Sounds like hide the HMMWV and dismount the 240.

Since we have 4 claymores I would like to see them on two circuits, with a fallback line of foxholes if we need them.

Plan... hit em with two claymores, then if need hit them with two more.  Surprise!

I have no worries about folks escaping, just us surviving.  Those that escape can spread the word that the CF forces here are not to be trifled with.  I hope that word is already getting around after the slaughter we caused a day or two before.

Re: OOC4

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 514):

To clarify, Kel and Abbot will be manning the Humvee, which will be parked hull-down at the northern end of the ambush area, by the Cougar (als0 hull-down).

The M240 will be dismounted (to be manned by Andy and Mac) but Abbot's C9 (FN Minimi/M249) can be mounted on the Humvee instead. Kel will drive the Humvee.

I forgot Kel was a good driver.

I think she is too good in the field for an ambush to sit behind the driver seat for this, though.

Thoughts?

Re: OOC4

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 516):

I think you could move Kel and Abbot to the north end of the ambush line, shift Taras and Trembley to the middle. That way you have a GPMG anchoring one end, the C9 SAW at the other and the ERYX in the middle, which is also where Taras is controlling the Claymores. With the Humvee and Itlis in behind the ambush line almost all the dismounts can go mobile quickly.

Andrews, with the Carl Gustav, is still on his own. He could be moved to the ambush line as well? Less chance of a flank shot and he'd still need to hump the Carl G by himself!

Where would you put the second line of foxholes? Are they even needed, if vehicles are readily available? Maybe what's needed instead is a secondary ambush position somewhere north on highway 13.

Which plan are you going with?

1) Kel and Abbot in Humvee, by the Cougar? Y/N

2) Kel and Abbot the ambush line, Humvee behind them? Y/N

3) Secondary ambush position to the north? (This is for later.)

4) Recce of the Abbotsford crossing to the east? (About 20km by road.)

I think we need to be aware of 4, but it sounds like Taras wants us to plant here.

If Kel is in the Hummer, that leaves her out of the fight as a rifle.  I was thinking of having her nearby in an ambush position.  I want to be able to use her fieldcraft.

Well, it's that time of year again!

Friday, Michelle, Gianna and I will head out into the BC wilderness to relax at a summer camp we've rented for the week for family and friends. I will be running some intro RPGs for the kids. There won't be any internet.

Please post what you're doing to get ready for the night. I might be able to check out posts in the next day or so, then we'll need to leave it until we get back.
