Yep, somehow there was a bug in the last update that nuked many a Description, although it was still there when you went to edit it.

Ok then! Until more proactive action is taken at the weather station by Kel and/or Mac, I can't progress further. You are there, you see it, what are you going to do about it?

Andrews has dismounted. He wants to help, but is only broadcasting this information telepathically at the moment.

Re: OOC4

Curiously Russian early warning radars for air surveillance that may be well known to Capt. Bezhov operates in B and C-Band as the Environment Canada radar does.

I have no idea about the current status of the Capt and if he and his crew can be contacted. It will do good for the IRON program (reconstruction) to re-open the facility for both environmental and air control issues but so far I'm happy if we can re-possess any information that can be found at the radar site.

Unrelated but you may find interesting. A trail of abandoned paperwork linked an abandoned train station near my hometown in Spain to gold stolen and transported by the Nazis between 1942 and 1943.

Your signaller, Kel, is operating dismounted. Is Taras going to use the radio?

That's an incredible building and an interesting story. Nazi gold smuggled out in 42-43 seems a little early for rats fleeing a sinking ship. Do you think this was to finance espionage outside Europe? A contingency plan for relocation to South America in case of defeat? Payments to the Franco regime?

Re: OOC4

Sure, Taras can use the radio.

As per the gold, there are several theories but the most solid ones point towards the investments towards the future in Spain or South America. At that time Gen. Franco was providing "payments" to Germany for the services rendered by the "Kondor Legion" and other outfits with generous shipments of rare minerals for the war effort like wolfram or tungsten as well as the "Blue Division" of volunteers fighting alongside the 250th Div. of the Wehrmacht in the Eastern Front. Also a few contracts for small weapons took place like ASTRA pistols for the Luftwaffe etc.

You mean the gold was going from Spain to Germany as payments? I thought it was going the other way. The term "Nazi gold" certainly has a kind of implication to it!

From that article:

After the war, evidence was found of significant gold transactions between Germany and Spain, ceasing only in May 1945. It was believed that these were derived from Nazi looting of occupied lands, but attempts by the Allies to obtain control of the gold and return it were largely frustrated.

"Franco won the Spanish Civil War in large part due to the support he received from Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. Truman supported United Nations resolutions in 1945 and 1946 keeping Franco’s Spain out of the world organization and canceling full diplomatic recognition of his regime, and under the President’s direction the 1947 Marshall Plan to rebuild war-ravaged Europe also excluded Spain. However, the U.S. tolerated the presence in Washington of lower-level Spanish diplomats, who hired well-connected lawyers and lobbyists and cultivated relations with the Catholic leaders, right-wing legislators such as Sen. Pat McCarran, Pentagon planners, and selected U.S. exporters. By the end of 1947, important members of Truman’s administration sought a new policy of military cooperation with Franco to counter the alleged Soviet threat to western Europe, and by early 1950 the Senate had voted to extend economic aid to Spain."

Ooops, the link: http://www.albavolunteer.org/2...lliance-with-franco/

" British and French opposition kept Spain out of the nascent North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but in mid-1951 the U.S. began formal negotiations with Spain for a mutual defense agreement. The Pact of Madrid, signed in 1953, provided $1.4 billion in U.S. military and economic aid to Spain over the next 10 years in return for naval and air bases for American forces."

As a result my hometown started hosting since July 1957 facilities providing operational support for SAC Boeing B-47 Stratojet alert force dispersal. Zaragoza was under SAC's 65th Air Division. Support continued for B-47 operations until 1 July 1964, when Zaragoza AB was placed on standby status with the withdrawal of the B-47 from active service.

I forgot to post that shooting the lock did little. It's a very sturdy deadbolt and 9mm is a very poor round to use. It's very hard to do with a pistol.

How can you shoot a lock with an empty chamber and the magazine removed? Why don't read the post properly even if the idea is absurd, brutish, etc?

So harsh! After reading your post a couple times I couldn't quite tell what the specific plan was. Taras seemed to be saying he would be using his 9mm as a lock-smith but that was just a play on words. Either way, no harm no foul.

You probably have bolt cutters. You could smash a window with them, but the lock is internal to the door. A dead-bolt, not padlock. Same with the gate at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the radar.

Kelsey is pretty firm about any REAL damage to the facility, and I am still very confused as to why we are doing this.  Leaving it intact is the best way to preserve it for the team that will recover it, since we are not.. why are we considering vandalism?

This doesn't seem to make sense tactically.

But this fits into the general recovery plan. That is, something as mundane as a weather radar is actually pretty useful if it can be repaired. Maybe it doesn't need to be done this minute but it should be done some time, may as well be now.

It's hard to tell but I think Taras agreed to get a locksmith down from Aldergrove to help with access. That way there is no damage, and if the locks are replaced you would have keys.

Just so... but the site is secure now, and our group doesn't have the capability of getting the weather radar online, so maybe telling command that it's here (which has been done) and letting the specialists get on with it would be a better approach.

That is your approach.

My understanding is that the locksmith will arrive with some militia in an hour. Bezhov and his crew, who are technically proficient in repairing and maintaining radars, will arrive some time after. They are driving the following vehicle. Note the radars mounted on the "Gecko":

Hello,

A friend is running a Robotech game. He's looking for a couple players to join. They will be 1st level ORs (aka "Enlisted") in a unit that my PC is OC (aka "CO"). The game is probably going to shoot for a gritty realistic tone, considering the genre. Here is the information he posted. If interested please contact him via the game's RTJ:

Darkside Trooper:
I know I mentioned it before, but here it is again...

I'm trying to fill a few open slots in my Robotech game:
link to another game

Specifically I'm looking for two 1st level Destroid pilots to fly/drive this, the MBR-10A1 Valiant:
The MBR-10 Valiant was designed to give the UEEF the heavy hitting firepower and armor of the original Destroid designs but in a mecha that was more suited for a variety of environments that could be anticipated when operating on extraterrestrial worlds. The Valiant is capable of sustained flight on a planet with gravity similar to that of Earth and operating in space like space fighter. The mecha can survive an atmospheric reentry by slowing it’s decent with the massive engines built into its legs and be fully combat capable upon landing. The most innovative aspect of the Valiant is the replaceable arms which can be switched for a variety of weapon systems and utility devices. In an effort on the part of the UEEF to make maintenance and replacement of parts easier, the sensor head, hands and leg mounted missile launchers are identical between the MBR-10 Valiant and the first generation of Alpha veritech’s.

The first MBR-10 Valiant platoons were first fielded in 2015. They saw action against Zentraedi Malcontents on both Earth and in Space. Two variants was developed, one was the basic –A1 model and has the same sensor head unit found on the VFA-6A Alpha veritech. The second variant was a command variant and has the same sensor head unit as found on the VFA-6B Alpha veritech.
