Re: Change of Mission

Thank you for doing Chris.

Phoenix Command is for those who really want to smell the cordite. Very gritty and realistic, but lots of charts and tables. You either need a near-photographic memory or lots of time to utilise it to the full. Face-to-face it slows a brawl down to a snailspace, but probably works a bit better in a play-by-post game.

helbent4:
For example, Keith is rated as an Expert (4d20L) in Longarm skill and the paired Attribute is Coordination (COR). To hit with ranged Longarm attacks he rolls 4d20, taking the lowest result and compares that to his COR of 10. The lower you roll the better and each additional die that would have made it adds to the success.

MMmmmm glad we have someone with that skill level (Other than Kel)  =P

I WAS an expert with rifle, pistol and grenade in real life back in the day. I was good! My roommate was a sniper! I don't think Tony gave Percy that high a level though.

Chris is also rated Expert with a longarm and is a sniper. Actually it's his best skill :)

Re: Change of Mission

That's fantastic.

I got the impression Kel was one of the only ones rated Expert when we last played.  She's well on the way to "OMFG" now.

Chris did make it, and he trained under Master Sniper McRae. Getting to 16 is possible in the normal course of your career. Getting to Master (32+ skill points) is practically a career all in itself!

Hi,

I am still in the "mulling it over" phase of the restart. I need to go back and review past posts, see if I can pick up the threads.

Thanks,

At Lee's (Kelsey's) suggestion I watched "Hyena Road" on Netflix, about the Canadian army in Afghanistan. A good movie, well worth a view.

Hyena Road was fun!  Not perfect, but fun.

Made me kinda pumped up to play.

Re: Change of Mission

If anyone is looking for a new game I am gauging interest in a Twilight 2000 v2.2 campaign similar to the "Pirates of the Vistula" module, but set on the Danube River.

link to another game

Send me a RTJ with a few character concepts if this sounds of interest. Thanks.

It sounds interesting, not sure if I can put in the time.  I would rather not start something and fail to finish.

Re: Change of Mission

If you have seen or played the original "Pirates of the Vistula" you would know the general concept of the campaign. The start will be different from the original and somewhat longer given the length of the Danube.

The campaign will start on the Austrian/Hungary border and I am pretty open to character concepts and backgrounds as long as you can justify them being in the location. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the original T2K modules except "Escape from Krakow".  I do have some of the later material, but never played or read the pirates one.  So.. donno what to do.

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 690):

There are a couple write ups of different Pirates games that have been run over the years. Following is one. The structure is simple and it works: you are on a fairly well-armed boat or small ship, and you are hired to go down (or up river). Adventure ensues.

Me too!

I might steal one of mine from another game.

I actually thought you meant "Personal Computer"! I found an online NPC/PC generator. I think it's for 1st. ed!

http://www.rpgfu.com/archives/253

There are also some T2.2 online utilities, including a vehicle database and half-completed chargen program. Dang, so close! But the author is still active, maybe he'll finish it if people were interested? (As well it's originally for TNE but the system is the same.)

Re: Change of Mission

I actually have my old character from the Pirates of the Vistula game that Raellus ran.  Some gear would have to be scaled down and skills adjusted at the GM's discretion of course.

If that's an option?

Re: Change of Mission

I spent a long time in Rae's Pirates game. Ideally, you need a few technical or negotiation skills and then a decent spread of recon and weaponry (don't neglect autogun/mortar or heavy gun).

Generally it works this way:
Sections of:
Fixing the boat and scrounging
Water combat and boarding
Exploration
Patrol based combat
The odd set piece land assault or defence

In this game, I'm considering an ex-Airborne medic with reasonable recon and combat. He'd be able to work with the shore parties and liaise with civilians via surgeries. I'm also looking at an ex-war correspondent: not much in the combat department but good for liaison.

Don't spread too thin, if you are clever you can be fully involved in all phases of the game.

In my opinion, POV is the best of the adventures to play. This should be a blast.

To be honest, make the character you want to play, the rest can be fitted around them. Having some difficulties to overcome makes for a great story.
