Re: OOC4

It's the end of July, so this is my "I'm going to Pennsic." post.

I'll be leaving on Friday, odd gods of the galaxy permitting, and back the next weekend.  With a little luck I'll get to spend some time beating various people with a stick.

I apologize for those who play with me in other games, I'm going to stick this in all my games.

"If you need to maintain your position then I support your call. Moving out at night and getting ambushed would be a disaster. Sounds like Belanger and Droz aren't going to die. Quite a little Safari you've had!

I didn't realize that Droz had been wounded. Can you verify either way?

Re: OOC4

Hi group,

Sorry for the lack of posting, we've had my mother-in-law staying since last Monday.

As well, I'm leaving for "summer camp" tomorrow (like, around 80 of my extended family and friends chip in together to rent out an actual summer camp on a lake for a week after their regular program is done). As it's in the Canadian backwoods there's little or no internet. I'll check when I can get into town but not making any promises! I'll be back at the end of the week, Friday or Saturday.

Re: OOC4

In reply to Christopher Little Hawk MacDonald (msg # 256):

We had tons of fun! The weather was beautiful, the lake was comparatively warm (this being Canada it's glacier-fed, after all). Michelle and I ran an intro to RP session (using d6 Star Wars) for the kids (9-11) which they enjoyed. I even did some wargaming which a few showed some interest in ("The Awful Green Things from Outer Space" and "Across Suez"). If we run games next year what I'd like to do is run a game for girls as well, because while some did show interest after the fact (they know Star Wars too!) I think the excitement of the boys put them off.

There was an accident on the Coquihalla highway (tour bus rollover) on the way back. This is the main route to the Interior so it took us 12 hours to make a 3-hour journey. (The alternative route we took was then blocked by some impatient clown who decided to pass across a double-yellow line around a blind corner and nailed an oncoming car head-on.) Some other people who were at camp witnessed the bus roll over and helped render first aid; all 56 passengers were injured (6 air and 19 ground ambulances were dispatched) but no one died.

In reply to helbent4 (msg # 257):

I hate bus rollovers.

How to triage a bus rollover:

Go stand on top of something.

Say "Everybody who can come to the sound of my voice, come over here."

Move them out of the way.

Start triaging the rest.

Get the first group another bus, and call your non-trauma hospital, to see if they have space for the first group.  Have a couple EMT's keep an eye on this group to see if they change status or need some packaging to get where they are going.

Send everyone who didn't respond to your request to the trauma center, in triage order.

Re: OOC4

Useful information, tucked away in a corner of my mind against ever having to deal with a bus rollover or other massive incident.

A single car rollover is bad enough. Been there, dealt with that.

The hard part is declaring the dead or expectant dead.

Reposition head, give them one cpr breath and see if they start breathing on their own.  If no, tag black and move on.

I'm not looking forward to that one.  There will be family, friends or sig others who will not do well with that, and there won't be enough cops to pull them off me.  I'll have to extricate myself from that.

Not the first time I've declared someone dead.

Re: OOC4

Welcome back Tony!

I guess it's time to get ready for a new adventure! We need to take account of what we have at hand in terms of people, vehicles and equipment. Then we need to make a throughout collection of INTEL and based on that and the type of mission we want to plan we can request extra equipment from our HQ.

In the mean time we have to get back and recover the humvee. That can buy us time if we want to get that something extra.

If we are going to take  the fight to the elephant robbers I would like to hear from you what  kind of approach would be that of your choice. I was certainly pleased with the last round and I'm willing to keep going that way due to the great quality of the players and overall gaming experience.

In reply to William Hawke (msg # 258):

In this case, this was a tour from China and no one spoke English save for 2 translators. Even though people were ejected from the bus, no one died, which is a minor miracle! A semi's dash camera caught the accident. The bus was going downhill but not too fast, it veered towards the median, then rolled as the driver overcorrected. Busy day for EMS! All the hospitals in a wide area were issued an "Orange Alert" to prepare them to receive casualties.

Re: OOC4

Once again, another zombie game announcement.

This is a Twilight 2K13 game set in the onset of the another American zombie apocalypse. The US tried to stave off the viral plague but could not hold out in the end.  The game starts for our heroes about a month after the outbreak.  The government has broken down and is in disarray.  The US military has made a break for the coasts and are now consolidating it's position offshore.

We are looking for Special operations troops of all kinds from all services.  There may even be a few foreign service solders in the mix.   The game is in the character generation phase so now is the time to request access.

Take a look and decide for yourself.  so far it sounds like a good time.

In reply to helbent4 (msg # 262):

Monday night we had a bunch of problems.

1 Cessna crashed
2 MVA's in Rensselaer, at least 4 patients.
3 Full moon was Tuesday.

We walked into AMC to learn that two other hospitals in the area were on diversion, and there were 12 other ambulances ahead of us.  It took us an hour to get a nurse to accept the patient and receive report.  I've never seen this before.  Patients were lined up out the door on our arrival.

It was packed.

Is anyone in the away team not good with a machine gun?
Kel is ok with it, but much better with a rifle.  She'll want to snag that M21 they had earlier to bring with.  The Barrett would be even better, of course...
