Mac promptly takes off full tilt back to the vehicles to fetch the tanker bar, and returns just as quickly.

Re: Unauthorised Entry

Mac trotted past Kel going one way, then returned with the tanker bar.

Back at the gate, he inserted the metal bar into the chain and twisted it. Try as he might, he couldn't break the chain.

Re: Unauthorised Entry

Before the coup we used to tell joke back in the USSR: "What has 1 year of Capitalism achieved that 70 years of Communism could not? It has made Communism look good". Look at that useless piece of cheap imperialist metal bar!

Taras motioned towards the Cougar: Little push! little push!!

Getting nowhere, Mac paused and considered his angles. Then he reset the bar to give the best leverage and redoubled his efforts.

In reply to Christopher Little Hawk MacDonald (msg # 387):

It seemed to Kel that Mac was having a spot of difficulty popping the chain and padlock that secured the gate.

GM's Note: Mac can make another roll.

Kelsey called over as softly as would carry.

"Need a woman to handle that, Mac?"

Re: Unauthorised Entry

In reply to Christopher Little Hawk MacDonald (msg # 391):

Witty banter aside, all it took was Kel helping out to pop the padlock and open the gate.

It swung open with a rusty squeal. The station was surrounded by trees. First was the radar tower. The building was behind it, a small 1-story structure made of cinderblocks.

The radar dome sat on top of a metal box, which itself was atop a skeletal metal tower. There was a metal stairwell running up to the box, which was about ten by ten metres and probably held the machinery for the weather radar. There were a few small windows in the structure. The radar dome had a geodesic pattern that reminded him of a soccer ball. After a couple years the rust wasn't too bad but noticeable on joints and rivets at the base of the tower.

They stood there. It was not that quiet. There were a good deal of insects and birds. Whatever happened the fallout must not have been too bad, and the Geiger counter wasn't ticking up.

Kelsey nods to Mac, and enters through the open gate, moving with purpose and her eyes surveying.  Keeping to the right.

In reply to Taras Vladimirovich Shevchenko (msg # 395):

While the gate to the radar was open, the vehicle barricades were still intact on the road. The traffic barriers would need to be pushed aside and the wire cut or otherwise pulled out of the way to permit passage.

Re: Unauthorised Entry

At the weather station, Mac and Kel moved past the radar dome. It didn't look stripped for parts, but was getting a little worse for the wear!

The building was just behind it. It was a 1-story rectangular concrete cinder-block structure, securely built. It didn't look broken-into. There was a front door, some dusty windows. It looked like an office was in the front, electronics bays in rear with an adjoining generator.

A "NO ENTRY - ENVIRONMENT CANADA" sign was posted on the front door.
