Time Goes On
This January this game passed its 10 year mark.

To those that played when the game centered around a table with papers, and to those that transitioned here, and to those that never played or let the game go on without them, thank you.

The summation of what has come to pass will be here for reference. My own notes are long lost, but I will rebuild, and, fate willing, the game will reach its penultimate conclusion.

Eroom Nasus fo Srepsihw
So, I've been taking notes and combing through Eroom Nasus fo Srepsihw and I think it's atrocious. Absolutely atrocious, I'm not really digging the writing for it at all. I'm going to post a summary of the basics, but re-reading it I can absolutely tell I had one idea I was going for with the "nurse" but then suddenly changed it.

I can't recall what was going on during that time, but holy shit, most of the thread's writing on my part was ponderous and, well, "sludgy". My posts read very strangely to me now. The cult scene in that thread is awful, full out, and was agonizing to me.

However, I read the portion in The Kindred's Kine and I actually loved the Giovanni scene. I know I have a penchant for the macabre, and I'm not sure how to write this without coming off as a pompous blowhard, but I feel like the writing... matured? I can't put my finger on it, but the portion that embraces the Catholicism, the scripture, etc feel a lot more grounded rather than sloshing through some needlessly "twisted" wordplay.

I'm torn, because I almost want to completely redo that scene, almost top to bottom. To me everything felt a little rushed. I may do some calibrating of this story, it reeks a little of "10 years ago me".

So what I'll do is cobble together my notes and put a bit of a summary to put this whole endeavor back on track.

I just read post #626, and the interaction between Susan, Rory, and Sarah was really strong. It's strange reading these posts years later. I guess sometimes I got wrapped up in my own story I didn't realize how great and impactful some of YOUR posts were.

I can't remember how I felt when I read those posts, but I gotta' say that your handling of Susan as a PERSON was awesome. I'm glad I am getting a change to review this stuff.

I think on my side I'm going to cut back on some of the descriptions... some of them are novel, but there's a lot of needlessly excessive detail on objects that don't require them. I don't think my penchant for macabre has changed per se, but I feel like I'd handle some of these scenes a little differently.

One thing I'm going to endeavor to do is pull away from "role playing" the character's body. Sometimes it feels like I'm controlling your response to things and years later it reads really badly.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on any of this, I'd love some feedback and I try to necro this RP.

So, more thoughts, post #666 is atrocious. What a potentially great scene, left to be railroaded by the GM.

That was hard to read, honestly, because while it read well (as if it were a novel) it read poorly as RP. Presumptive actions, presumptive behaviors, it goes on. Atrocious. I'm giving myself a hefty slap on the hand for that one.

That sort of tomfoolery is done with, I'm hoping you'll be glad to hear.

I haven't seen any feedback that I requested, so I'm going to carry on and finish up the rest of the reading I have left.

Yeah, we definitely had some strong RP throughout the years. As far as your descriptions go, I personally like them. But I can understand if you want to cut back on them for the sake of time.

About role-playing the body, I generally don't mind. This is my first forum-based game, so I don't really have a frame of reference about whether or not it's normal. I can say that it certainly makes sense if the character can't control a reaction, like a reflex or an autonomic response such as a change in heart rate. If it sets a certain mood or it gives me a cue as to the character's frame of mind, then it can lead to some fun RP.

In general, I favor progressing the scene organically over worrying about having my character controlled. Every game has its own limitations. That said, I can't say how Becky feels about any of these issues. As always, thanks for a fun game!

Seeing that post count in the red when I logged in was awesome, thanks for the feedback.

I may retain RP'ing the body's responses, though I'll probably ease up on them. I think maybe what I'd like to do is indicate how your body is responding and then allow YOU to expand on them a little more.

Sometimes I felt like I was telling your character that she was terrified. What I should have done was... note that your hands shook and your knees went weak and then let you work with that rather than "THE TERRIFYING TERROR OF HORROR SUNDERS YOU TO THE CORE, SHATTERING YOUR NERVES!"

I dunno, reading through this also made me wonder how you guys saw some of my really off-the-wall stuff when I was going through my early/mid 20's "WHOA SO EDGY BRAH" phase.

So, what I'm going to do is do a deep summarization. Something that we can all reference to not only catch up, but refer to past incidents. It's going to also pick important details from past posts that may have vanished (mostly the Demon pre-story).

As a little tid-bit, fun fact, before this became Crimson Legion, back in the table-top days, the actual plot effectively was going to have God attempting to enter into the world. I don't remember how I was going to manage it, but God couldn't enter into this reality because if the creator touched its creation it would result in annihilation. I guess the takeaway was that imperfections in creation were necessary to differentiate God and... well, not God.

The result was going to be God trying to summon himself into this reality. Yeah, subtle huh?
