Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
Varaniel waits a few moments for Vanargand's counsel. She takes Vanargand's silence as a sign that there is no other plan forthcoming. She points to Thunaer and tells Vanargand and Pothriesist,

"Look, he is injured! If you attack him, you may have some effect on him! I will continue with my plan."

She goes back to what she was doing, trying to scoop up a spirit or two in order to infuse them into Thunaer's armor.

Varaniel sounded confident and Vanargand had come to trust her by now and didn't hesitated. Springing into action he threw himself at the angel calling on the nature all around to assist him in the battle to come.

Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
Iormungand looks in surprise, snapping his jaws loudly. Vanargand finds that this particular angel carries a potent power well beyond his own. His claws rake across his flesh as if they were steel, penetrating only part of the time. The armor itself glows with a fiendishly hot light. Thunaer, starting to get annoyed, starts trying to push the persistent Fallen away. In conserving his power and focusing his attention on Vanargand, Varaniel spots an opening as she collects some willing souls...

As if the situation couldn't get any more dire... the sound of a legion of Vikerii incoming on screaming wings adds to the mounting tension.

Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
Varaniel flies forward as she spots the opening that Vanargand created. As she does so, she compresses the souls in her hands to more easily allow them to become infused in the armor. With her hands filled with souls outstretched before her, she attempts to slam into Thunaer's armor. If she is successful in touching the armor, she will attempt to channel the souls into the armor. With both hands on the armor, she will force the souls to join with the armor and power it to their utmost potential. Her eyes glow with a red light at the extreme effort she puts forth.

Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
Thunaer takes a few steps back, looking at his armor.

The area near the Host immediately sears in a roiling sea of brilliantly hot light. The mighty timbers that made up the buildings construction literally glass over before shattering like glass and vaporizing in mid-air. Those demons and angels that were of lesser power than Varaniel and Vanargand are instantly vaporized.

Both Varaniel and Vanargand feel their essences eaten away, the sheer power unleashed consuming their own. The excruciating pain is only amplified as a shockwave blows all nearby to the floor. Given a moment's respite, they too feel that all nearby Fallen have had similar fates to their own.

The smoke begins to fade...

Thunaer chuckles.

... Power... such... POWER!!!

The armor glows like a brilliant sun, a pale blue than yellow now. Iormungand looks in surprise at the turn of events, then at Varaniel. His gaze belies his feelings of confusion.

Thunaer slams his feet on the ground, renewed. I don't know what ya' thought you were plannin' to do Io, butcha' failed. Time to die friend...

Rearing back his hammer, he takes a mighty lunge forward. Iormungand has only a moment's time to see it coming before his eye bursts. The hammer slams into his skull, misty shockwaves flying into the air. Bone breaks like fragile glass, screaming gasps escaping broken nostrils. A white, watery substance pours out of the gaping, decimated wound in his head...

Speaking wasn't Vanargand's normal way to communicate so it never occurred to him to say anything and with a terrible roar he threw himself on the angel. Gone was all thoughts of planning, of strategy, all that mattered was to get close and to kill Thunaer.

His power sundered, Vanargand finds himself barely able to get Thunaer's attention. With a swipe of his hand the devourer is thrown across the floor. Ha! As it should be! Wait...

The armor glows ever brighter. Instead of shattering like Varaniel intended, it begins to sap Thunaer's own strength! The angel looks in a panic, even the mighty Vikerii step back. Iormungand pops his jawbone back into place...

Ah, the vacuum of power... hrrrk. Your kind... never knew... when to quit...

Drudging up the most vile, poisonous essences in his body, Iormungand draws out power from even his own name. Even if your victory is won here, it shall be without YOU.

With that, a viscous, black mixture boils out of the serpent's throat onto Thunaer. His once earthy, stone-like skin-turned-flesh are suddenly all too vulnerable to the venom Iormungand spews. With that last act, Iormungand falls.

Varaniel falls to the floor from the blast of power from Thunaer's armor. As she lies there, she begins to call to her followers for power so that she may recover her strength. She hopes that the host can still be defeated without Iormungand...

With that a battalion of Vikerii drop in from the ceiling, riding on the head of a thunderstorm. The sky grows dark, casting a shadow upon everything. They descend slowly, wings spread.

Several other of the Host come in, reinforcing their comrades. You are defeated here, Fallen. The Lightbringer has surrendered. Do you all have any last words before you are taken away?

A thick silence pervades over the Fallen as the fall back to the center of the room, fear manifesting upon their faces. Many say nothing, only looking at each other in question...

Lucifer has fallen? Is this the end...?

Varaniel slowly sits up, her eyes wide with shock. It looks like the desperate battle against the Host was for naught. She does not suspect trickery, because the angels of the Host are naturally above such underhanded tactics. She stands up silently with her head bowed in defeat, and waits to be taken away.

Vanargand knew when he was beaten and against these odds he stood no real chance of getting out in one piece. He was surrendering... for now, until he would be able to get free, they wouldn't be able to keep an eye out for him forever.

A column of smoke rises out from the ashes of the conflict here, glowing brimstone coalescing into form. He regards the Host in a respectful, deep tone. Ah, my friends... I see the host has achieved its final victory. As was designed, of course. May I be assured that my part played here be granted as penance? That I may be spared?

Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
The Viklerii waves a hand over the corpse of Iormungand. Unlike his crystalline body, spatters of dark venom remain. Droplets collect into her hand.

You will be spared what comes.

She kisses the black, viscous fluid as it forms into a long serpent. She drops it to the floor as it rushes towards Lohho, coiling itself around his legs. The blessing has it growing at a voracious rate, silencing his ability to summon the flame. Black veins appear and throb. It finally coils itself over his head.

Your sin weighs heavily, and for that, you will NEVER be forgiven. She will drink from you your power, and from it, a terrible milk will form.

The chimera strikes, latching its fangs into his forehead. It takes a few vampiric draughts from him, the first, potent tastes. Its glands swell, and soon, it releases itself. All watch as a black, sap-like substance roils down his forehead until it reaches his eyes...

All thoughts of fighting, to resist vanished as Vanargand saw what the Host had in store for Lohho, his heart beamed as he saw the traitor being taking care of and he knew that now when he was dead he in return would have peace... now he was ready for anything the Viklerii had in store for him, that Morningstar would be defeated was something he didn't believed a moment worth.

Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
And so, the Fallen are corralled and driven out of the city. The Ophanim, the angels of justice, ride down from the burning white columns of clouds. The sky itself is heavy with the global destruction. Though they gleam brightly near the heavens, they pregnant with gray towards the face of the earth.

The march to the south begins through the planet itself. Angels of the earth press their cold iron blades into the planet and press their will upon it. Seals crack through rock and mud. Workers of time and space add their sigils to the complex weave, and all about the Fallen the wind whips violently. The clouds remain, though their brilliance wanes and waxes as the sun flashes overhead. The earth itself molds and reshapes itself, mountains dip and rise. Plains are cracked and run through with streams. Grass and tree alike grow and fall.

Things slow.

Genhinnom, the capital of the Fallen's vast empire, lays in shambles. Lucifier himself, defiant, is shackled with bands of fire and hate. There is no essence of surrender within, and his flame burns bright yet. All around valley millions of Fallen can be seen, with several million more of the Host watching guard.

The presence of Lucifer himself returns a feeling of audacity to the raging legions of the the Fallen. All wait for Lucifer's command to attack... but he does not. A clamoring rises from the ranks of the Host and Fallen alike. Something is coming.

Something.

Oppressive.

Fear.

Re: The Envoy, the Vizier, and the Serpent
Descending from above, it comes. The avatar of God. It is something that is seen, and yet unseen. That which exists nowhere is perceived only by the wake of destruction it leaves by entering this world. Light dies, the air withers, and the ground melts. Only the tumultuous cloudscape remains, almost acting as an anchor for the divine.

One of the Ophanim, at tall, regal archangel, suddenly dims. His eyes burst with a searing light, his form withering. Wracked with pain, the Ophanim forces himself to stand straight. Even as his flesh suddenly begins to unwind like coiled ribbons, his lips part.

The voice. It is merely that. The depths of its tone rumble creation with power. It is infinitely calm and purposeful, dimming even the light of the sun's rays above.

Lucifer...

There is a profound silence, a pondering quiet.

I have summoned you here... for a purpose.

This is my command.

Immediately Lucifer raises his head.

You will be condemned to darkness eternal...

The Fallen look at one another, the tension rising drastically.

An empty, endless existence. You will be devoid of purpose or worth for time Eternal.

In the center of a field, a massive circle would appear. Forged with the Lore of Realms out of the heat of God's hate, and cooled with the spiteful spit of God's tongue, it came into being screaming. What lay inside could not be sensed, heard, or felt. It was as if, the great tapestry of creation, there was nothing.

Absolutely nothing...

With the clattering of his chains, Lucifer slowly rises to his feet. The pain emanates through every fiber of his being, burdened. Something about him is tarnished, his teeth clenched.

But he opens his eyes.

And with that, turns his face to the Almighty. He clenches his fists and narrows his eyes. His wings flare up and his back stiffens.

He says nothing, but even now, he stares in defiance...
