Low-powered heroic arc game

I'm running a "players grow from ordinary schlubs to capable heroes over the course of the campaign" game, and I'd like to play in one, if anyone is up to run it.

Preferences:

  • Systems in order of Preference: GURPS 4e, Gumshoe, FATE, Mutants and Masterminds 3e
  • Genre: Pretty much anything allowing players to start out as ordinary people in the mundane world. They don't have to stay there.
  • 2-4 players
  • Starting out as ordinary folk. 50-75 points in GURPS, PL 1-2 in Mutants and Masterminds, etc.
  • Slow growth, though a one-time "power infusion" that occurs after we start playing for a superhero game (or the like) would be fine as long as we had to figure out how it all works over the course of the game, and the powers don't make us more skilled.
  • Sandboxy, or at least player-driven.

Low-powered heroic arc game

Hey Tortuga,
If you’d like, I’d give running this a shot. I’m kind of rusty at DMing and new to DMing PbP. Id been toying with running a low power super game since I couldn’t find one, so this may be kismet.

I’d probably do it in Gurps or Gumshoe depending on the time and theme we go for, but have you heard of the Superlative system. Came out on Kickstarter last year, and it may be a cool way to do it.

What were you feeling for tone? What age or era of comic or movie were you feeling?
