Traveller 5

 Greetings,

I recently purchased the Traveller fifth edition rules. I was wondering if anyone might be interested in GM a campaign with these rules. Thank you.

Re: Traveller 5

Spinward Marches based. Perhaps a Merchant Crew, and or Privateers. I am more of a solo type player in rping games. But Traveller lends itself to a group dynamic.

Only the two of us appear to be interested.

Traveller 5

I picked up Traveller5 last year when Bundle Of Holding had it, but have never played it. It's not at all like any of the other Traveller editions I've played. Hope there's an online character creation tool, because I've not once managed to finish a character.

Traveller 5

I just recently picked up Traveller 5 rules. Apparently, there aren't any Traveller 5 games on rpol yet?

Traveller5 may not be the best fit for play-by-post. Character creation alone is nearly endless.

Is this thread dead (heh) or are peeps still interested? I've never heard of Traveller but I love me some scifi.

Traveller 5

In reply to TippedVelvet (msg # 11):

As someone unfamiliar with the system, you might be better off looking for a more gentle entry-point into the realm of Traveller. The first and second editions of Mongoose Traveller are very accessible to the beginner. I have plans to start up a new second edition game sometime within the next couple of months, but obviously that's no help right now (I'm still fiddling around with the High Guard supplement, which will feature prominently in the early part of the campaign).

I find Traveller5 to be slightly unhinged. I love extremely-crunchy systems with sprawling, detailed rulesets, and I love Traveller, but Traveller5 is what I would call desperately neurotic. It's probably a little too far up its own rear end even for me - and I assure you that is saying something.

Mongoose has a great ruleset. Frankly the original rules from '77 work just fine.
