Demon: The Fallen
I love Demon... Seriously. Love. A Game could be just about anything. the major problem that comes up, from this ST's perspective, is the various Factions. the suggestion earlier about a group who knew each other during the War of Wrath reuniting in the modern age seems like the best way to go about it. Maybe they escaped from the Pit together?
I've run Demon in the past, in small doses (Most of the people I've gamed with prefer high-flying action/adventure games ala Exalted) and the problem usually rises that Demons in the Modern Age tend to be very focused on mystery, internal politics, and dominance games while trying to keep their Torment at a level they want, all the while having ultimately unattainable goals with a looming apocalypse. 20th Anniversary Edition doesn't have a Demon update, which means it never got updated for games set after 1999, and the End-Times for them is rather blatant, obvious, and has some serious ramifications for a long-term game. The Lore itself is fantastic, but it's also sorely limiting. An ST almost universally has to choose one of a dozen interpretations of how things DID go and how they WILL go because a Demon's memory, no matter how much a player pumps into Legacy, are twisted and tainted by Torment and time spent as a completely insane manifestation of pain imprisoned in isolation with only other twisted insane manifestations of pain and hatred for company.
I love Lucifer the TV Show, and it'd make perfect sense for a Fallen to have started a nightclub just to have fun ((Probably Foustian?)) and the fact that people can be 'nominal' members of their Factions and not give a crap about the overarching goals can be freeing, but the Earthbound tend to make the game almost entirely about hunting down uber-powerful stereotypical 'Demons' like from the movie 'Fallen.' And given that they're pretty much the only beings in WoD who can stand toe-to-toe with a Demon on terms of sheer power? ((Exhibit A: Lore of Death allows you to just touch someone and deal Agg based on a Stamina + Medicine roll. That's it. No Soak. Lore of the Flames lets you burn all the things and it doesn't even cost you much Faith to do it.))
Ultimately, for a Demon ST, it's difficult. This got a bit into game-discussion territory, but it's one of the reasons why finding a Demon ST might be an issue.
Wont stop me from working on my attempts to update it for 2019, nor to put together a plot, but it's nowhere near ready for testing/playing yet.
