I'd like to learn SWN, so if someone would start a fresh new game that didn't use a lot in the way of house rules that'd be awesome, thanks.

I'm in as well. Even more if that's with the revised edition. :)

Depends on what you prefer. The original edition of SWN is OSR; brutal and unforgiving, but very simple in terms of mechanics and how everything functions. I don't have much experience with the Revised ruleset so far, but it seems to bring things closer to modern games while still keeping some of the mechanics of the original.

I've got a fair amount of experience with SWN, playing and GMing. The problem I can see with playing over rpol is it's a very crunch heavy game. Revised is streamlined alot though.

What kind of game are you looking for? Are you looking to be some kind of star trader, a pirate or maybe an officer in a actual star systems navy?

I think trader/ship for hire/freelance troubleshooters might offer the broadest range of interaction with the system.

I've played the original rules over RPoL a fair number of times; it handles pretty well and isn't crunch heavy at all (especially not compared to games like Shadowrun or Warhammer). Although, I suppose YMMV.

I'm not meaning to disregard your opinion or anything; just saying that my experience with it seems to be different from yours. That's all.

I'm up for any of the two editions but I have a preference for the Revised Edition. :)

Re: Stars Without Number

Well it's a GM wanted thread so presumably eventually someone who replies will intend to run the game.
