A lone man wanders along a dusty road leading a weary mule. The sun beats down on him but the only shadow afforded him is the broad brimmed hat he wears. The tan hills on either side of the road roll in to the distance, the landscape gently falling and rising in soft waves, occasionally broken by a stand of trees.
He stops to drink a little water and look up. The faint outline of a village shimmers in the distance.

I'm looking for a mature, or possibly adult, low fantasy game for myself about a man on a journey. Going from place to place, interacting with the locals, solving the occasional problem, carrying a message to the next village. Small stuff, mostly.
I am thinking mostly free-form, maybe with another player as a companion/lover/friend.
