Fate Zombie Apocalypse

I'd like to learn FATE and what all it can do, and one of my favorite vehicles to learn a game is a zombie apocalypse. I'd like to find a small game for that purpose. Or really a large one, with lots of community-building and stuff. Either one would be fun. Here are a few of the things I'd like to see:

• Compelling Gameplay: Show me what Aspects can really do. How we can use compels and invokes and everything else to really help set a scene? Give me a lot of scene interaction. One thing that interests me is how you can apply and interact with aspects on things like the setting itself.

• Survival: More than just combat, I like survival elements. Scrounging an apocalyptic cityscape for supplies, shelter, make contact with other survivors. Finding resources and using them to build, reinforce, maybe make a home. In fact, one of the dramatic elements of the game would be finding a place to call home in this post-apocalyptic world.

• Gritty, but Not Hopeless: I like my zombie apocalypses pretty gritty, but not like TWD where nothing good ever happens or stays that way. I'd like to see the opportunity to rebuild, gathering together survivors, building up shelters, and starting to create points of light in a darkened world. Conflict with other survivors, sure, the drama of all the danger and resource scarcity (or difficulty getting it), sure. But let's have an ability to actually create real progress with time and effort.

• Rules Variations: I'd like to see what the rules can do. How can we customize them to fit this setting? Are there good books with survival-oriented rules options?

• Zombie Variations: Personally, I prefer settings that have your occasional horrifying zombie aberration, and animal zombies. It's a way to keep the primary environmental threat fresh and occasionally get you back to basics—even well-stocked and fortified survivors could be stuck on a scouting mission across the city when things go wrong and packs of zombie dogs are howling in the surrounding neighborhoods.

• Possible Supernatural Elements: Finally, one possible variation for all of this would be something like urban fantasy meets zombie apocalypse. So it's not just human survivors out there, but witches, vampires, werewolves, psychics, etc. As long as it doesn't become too superheroic, I think it'd be fun. After all, vampires still need living blood, werewolves might be more than a match for most zombies but don't have unlimited strength (plus zombie werewolves would be cool, zombies that look like human zombies then shapeshift into horrific zombie wolf-beasts!) and need more food, etc.

Adult-rated game, please, not necessarily for graphic love scenes, but just the often gritty and savage nature of the setting. Would also be willing to try out something like Outbreak: Undead 2nd Edition, but I thought I would like to learn FATE and this would be a great way to do it.

Fate Zombie Apocalypse

I love to run zombie horror apocalypse settings.

But, I'm not a fan of FATE or Fudge.

If you ultimately decide to play instead of just learning FATE I can give all the things you are looking for in a zombie apocalypse in another system or free form.
